An end face polishing apparatus with improved polishing precision regardless of the length of ferrules when end faces of the ferrules are polished is provided. In an end face polishing apparatus polishing a rod-shaped member mounted at a polishing fixture by pressing the rod-shaped member against a lapping member on a lapping machine provided on a surface plate that is supported at the main body of the apparatus to rotate and rock, there are a plurality of rod-shaped guide members provided at the polishing fixture radially outwardly projecting and a tubular member capable of supporting the polishing fixture through the guide members on the surface plate. In this way, the guide members at the polishing fixture and the tubular member abut against each other so that the movement of the polishing fixture in the pressing direction is restricted.

Disclosed are an optical connector plug and an optical connector, wherein the grip member includes an inner barrel and an outer barrel, which are freely slid with respect to each other, the grip member having a reduction state where the inner barrel is accommodated in the outer barrel and an extension state where the inner barrel projects forwardly, and the plug frame being engaged and supported such that the plug frame is movable by a predetermined amount with respect to the outer barrel, and, at a leading end inside the inner barrel are provided a shield plate supported at a free slant with respect to the inner barrel via a base end of the shield plate, disposed at a shield position at which a leading end of the ferrule is shielded in the extension state, and disposed at a non-shield position at which accommodation of the plug frame in the inner barrel is allowed, an action plate supported at a free slant inside the shield plate via a base end of the action plate, and inclined along with the shield plate, with a leading end of the action plate contacting with or engaged with the shield plate, and a biasing supporting means for biasing the shield plate for positioning the shield plate such that the shield plate is disposed at the shield position in the extension position.

An end face polishing apparatus has a support member mounted on the main body for undergoing revolving and rotational movement during a polishing operation, a tubular member mounted on the support member for rotation and revolving movement therewith, a lapping member mounted on the support member for rotation and revolving movement therewith, and a polishing fixture for supporting at least one workpiece having an end face for pressure contact with the lapping member to polish the end face of the workpiece during rotation and revolving movement of the lapping member. The polishing fixture has radially outwardly projecting guide members for contacting the tubular member to limit the amount of polishing of the end face of the workpiece in a pressing direction during rotation and revolving movement of the lapping member.

To provide an optical connector promoting reliability by reducing insertion loss of an optical fiber and downsized, there is provided an optical connector plug having a ferrule including a cylindrical member for the ferrule for holding an optical fiber and a flange member provided at a rear end portion of the cylindrical member for the ferrule, an urge spring provided on a side of a rear end portion of the flange member of the ferrule, and a plug housing for holding the ferrule and the urge spring directly at inside thereof and directly engaged with an optical connector adapter inserted with a front end portion of the ferrule to carry out optical connection, in which the plug housing is formed with a slit capable of inserting the optical fiber in a radius direction thereof at a portion of an outer periphery thereof over an axial direction.

An optical connector adapter has a tubular sleeve having opposite open ends each for receiving a ferrule supporting an optical fiber to bring front end faces of the ferrules into contact with each other to optically connect together the optical fibers. An adapter housing supports therein the sleeve. The adapter housing has at least one elastically deformable engaging portion projecting from an outer peripheral surface portion of the adapter housing for detachable engagement directly to a mounting board or for detachable engagement to a mounting member detachably engageable with the mounting board to detachably mount the adapter housing to the mounting board.

Provided are an optical connector plug and an optical connector, including: a shielding plate which is held in a plug frame holding hole of a plug housing in a manner that allows the shielding plate to tilt, the distal end of the shielding plate moving between a shielding position and an unshielding position; an operating plate which is held in a tiltable manner in the plug frame holding hole and adapted to tilt along with the shielding plate, the plug frame being capable of retracting, upon movement of the shielding plate to the shielding position, to a housing position at which no interference occurs with the shielding plate and the operating plate; and a biasing and holding member for biasing and positioning the shielding plate and the operating plate in a manner that brings the shielding plate to the shielding position as the plug frame moves to the housing position. When the plug frame is moved toward a front end of the plug housing, the operating plate is tilted by this movement of the plug frame, and the tilted operating plate pushes the shielding plate to the unshielding position, thus allowing the plug frame to move to an optical connection position with respect to the plug housing.

An optical functioning component has a tubular housing with a front end side having substantially the same shape as that of a front end of a removable plug housing of an optical connector plug. A rear end side of the tubular housing has a shape configured for connection to the optical connector plug when the plug housing is removed from the optical connector plug. A ferrule is provided on the front end side of the tubular housing and has a mechanism capable of attenuating, cutting-off, reflecting or absorbing a specific wavelength of light. An optical connection sleeve is connected to an end of the ferrule. A frame supports the ferrule and the optical connection sleeve and is mounted in the tubular housing for undergoing axial movement therein by a preselected amount.

An end face polishing method provides an end face polishing apparatus having a main body, a jig board mounted on the main body and supporting at least one workpiece, a polishing board mounted on the main body for undergoing rotational and revolving movements relative to the main body, and abrasive members each removably connectable to the polishing board for rotational and revolving movements therewith. Each of the abrasive members has an abrasive surface with a hardness that is either higher or lower than the hardness of the abrasive surface of the others of the abrasive members. An end face of a workpiece is successively brought into pressure contact with the abrasive surface of each of the abrasive members in descending order of hardness of the abrasive surfaces while rotating and revolving the polishing board to thereby successively polish the end face of the workpiece.

A transmitting part selects polishing pressure information stored in the computer in accordance with polishing information inputted from the ferrule type input part, the ferrule end face shape input part, the connector type input part, and the ferrule polishing number input part, and transmits the polishing pressure information to a ferrule polishing machine.

A synchronizing signal processing circuit for use in a video apparatus such as a display apparatus and an information recording/reproducing is disclosed. The synchronizing signal processing circuit is capable of not only removing false synchronizing pulses included in incoming synchronizing signals and compensating for missing signals, but also causing its output to follow its input quickly after a phase of the incoming synchronizing signals has shifted abruptly.

An optical connector has a ferrule comprises of a cylindrical body for supporting an optical fiber, and a flange member having an end portion connected to a first end of the cylindrical body and a flange part projecting from the end portion. A holding member supports the ferrule and has an engaging part. A rotation positioning part is formed in the flange part of the flange member for positioning the flange part relative to the holding member to provide a first clearance between the rotation positioning part and the engaging part of the holding member for restricting rotation of the ferrule about the fiber optical axis relative to the holding member. In an edge correcting circuit of an image to be represented by a digitized image signal, a high-frequency signal extracting circuit () extracts a high-frequency signal of the image by calculation based on a signal of a target pixel, a signal of a pixel shifted from the target pixel by m (m being an integer not smaller than 2) pixels in the right or lower direction, and a signal of a pixel shifted from the target pixel by m pixels in the left or upper direction, an amplitude-restricting signal generator () determines an amplitude-restricting signal (Si) based on a minimum value or a maximum value of an absolute value of a difference between the signal of the target pixel and a signal of a pixel shifted from the target pixel by n (n being an integer not smaller than 1 and smaller than m) pixels in the right or lower direction, and an absolute value of a difference between the signal of the target pixel and a signal of a pixel shifted from the target pixel by n pixels in the left or upper direction, an amplitude restricting circuit () restricts the output of the high-frequency extracting circuit () to the output of the amplitude-restricting signal generator (), and an adder () adds the output (Si) of the amplitude restricting circuit () or a signal obtained therefrom, as an edge correction signal (Sj, Sq), to the signal (Sc) of the target pixel. It is possible to obtain an edge-corrected image signal with the horizontal or vertical overshoots having been reduced or removed.

An end face polishing device has a first revolution shaft mounted for undergoing revolving movement about a first axis, a rotational shaft mounted for undergoing rotation about a second axis eccentric from the first axis, and a second revolution shaft mounted for undergoing revolving movement about a third axis eccentric from the second axis. A polishing disc is connected to the second revolution shaft for revolving movement therewith.

End face polishing device

An end face polishing apparatus has a lapping board mounted to undergo rotation and revolving movement, a lapping member having a polishing surface and disposed on the lapping board for rotation and revolving movement therewith, a polishing fixture for supporting a workpiece having an end face, and a pressing member. During a polishing operation, preselected portion thereof to bring the end face of the workpiece into pressure contact with the polishing surface of the lapping member and to dispose the preselected portion at a position closer to the polishing surface than to a center of gravity of the polishing fixture to thereby polish the end face of the workpiece during rotation and revolving movement of the lapping board.
