A fuel feed apparatus pumps fuel in a fuel tank to an outside of the fuel tank. The fuel feed apparatus includes a lid member that covers an opening formed in the fuel tank. The lid member includes an outlet passage, through which fuel passes to the outside of the fuel tank. A pump module is accommodated in the fuel tank. The pump module is supported by the lid member. The pump module includes a fuel pump that pumps fuel in the fuel tank to the outside of the fuel tank. A pipe member connects with a pipe connecting portion of the outlet passage and a pipe connecting portion of the pump module. The pipe member introduces fuel discharged from the pump module to the outlet passage. The pipe connecting portion of the outlet passage and the pipe connecting portion of the pump module are substantially perpendicular to an axis of the lid member.

Fuel feed apparatus having fuel pump

A fuel feed apparatus supplies fuel in a fuel tank to an outside of the fuel tank. The fuel feed apparatus includes a fuel pump that is accommodated in the fuel tank. The fuel pump pumps fuel in the fuel tank. The suction filter connects with an inlet of the fuel pump. The suction filter is arranged in a bottom portion of the fuel tank. The suction filter removes foreign matters contained in fuel drawn into the fuel pump. The holder engages with a lateral portion of the suction filter. The holder restricts the suction lifter from moving in a lateral direction of the suction filter.

Fuel feed apparatus having fuel pump and filter

A fuel feed apparatus is provided to a fuel tank. The fuel feed apparatus includes a lid member, a canister, and a fuel pump. The lid member covers a through hole of the fuel tank. The canister connects with the lid member. The canister is accommodated in the fuel tank for removably absorbing fuel vapor in the fuel tank. The canister has a cross section, which is in a substantially semicircle shape. The canister has an outer peripheral wall that partially defines a remaining space on the lateral side of the canister. The fuel pump is received in the remaining space on the lateral side of the canister in the fuel tank for pumping fuel in the fuel tank.

Fuel feed apparatus having canister

A pump module includes a fuel pump, a fuel filter having a filter casing and a filter element, a fuel outlet, and a pressure regulator. The filter casing covers at least a part of the outer circumference of the fuel pump, and accommodates the filter element. The fuel outlet is disposed outside the outer circumference of the filter casing, and includes an outflow passage for flowing the fuel from a discharge opening disposed on a sidewall of the outer circumference of the filter casing. The outflow passage includes a retrieve passage extending from the discharge opening to the sidewall of the outer circumference of the filter casing. The pressure regulator is disposed outside the outer circumference of the filter casing, and includes a regulator inlet for introducing the fuel, the regulator inlet being opened to the retrieve passage.

Pump module

A fuel feed apparatus includes a lid module that includes a canister accommodated in a fuel tank. The canister defines a space in the vicinity of a lateral periphery of the canister in the fuel tank. The fuel feed apparatus further includes a pump module that is located in the space. The fuel feed apparatus further includes a connecting member that is axially slidable with respect to the lid module and the pump module along the lateral periphery of the canister and a lateral periphery of the pump module. When the lid module is connected to the fuel tank by moving the lid module toward the pump module along the connecting member, the connecting member hooks to the pump module, so that the connecting member is restricted from moving in a direction, in which the lid module moves toward the pump module.

Fuel feed apparatus

Fuel passes through a fuel filter from the outer layer of the fuel filter toward the inner layer of the fuel filter. Large debris is arrested in the outer layer made of nonwoven fabric, and small debris is arrested in the inner layer made of filter paper, so that plugging is prevented. The fuel filter is inserted between a fuel pump and a sub-tank. The fuel pump is supported by the fuel filter via both a suction pipe and a fixing section. Vibration generated in the fuel pump is absorbed by the fuel filter which has sufficient thickness, so that the vibration is not transferred to the sub-tank. Thus, filtering performance and lifespan of the fuel filter are easily secured while decreasing vibration transfer.

Fuel filter having double layer structure

A fuel feed apparatus is accommodated in a fuel tank. Hooking projection parts have claws formed on a fuel discharge side of a fuel pump. The claws are fitted and hooked in an opening formed on a filter case, so that the fuel pump is protected from dropping out from the filter case. The entire circumference of the fuel discharge side of the fuel pump is inserted with force into a press-insertion part formed in the filter case. A fuel suction side of the fuel pump is not supported by other parts, so it is in free condition.

In-tank type fuel feed apparatus

A fuel supply system having a pump for drawing and discharging fuel from a tank and a filter for catching foreign matter in the fuel. A housing has a fuel outlet and supports the pump. The pump has a fuel intake port and a fuel discharge port. A fuel passage is located in the housing and connects the fuel outlet with the discharge port The filter is located in the fuel passage. The filter has a filter case and a filter element therein. The filter case is located in the housing spaced from the inner wall thereof.

Fuel supply system having a pump with a resiliently mounted filter

Resin having a susceptibility to electrostatic charge which is opposite in polarity to the susceptibility to electrostatic charge of a filter sheet or member forming a filter element is impregnated into the filter member. For example, when the filter member is composed of polyester of 50-70 weight percentage and glass fiber of 5-25 weight percentage as well as pulp of 15-35 weight percentage, resin composed of phenol resin of 5-20 weight percentage and melamine resin of 80-95 weight percentage is impregnated into the filter member so that the susceptibility to electrostatic charge of the filter member can be neutralized. Thus, static electricity generated by friction between the filter element and fuel flowing therethrough can be controlled.

Filter element

A cover for covering an opening of a fuel tank holds a fuel pump, a fuel filter, a fuel level gauge and a pressure regulator inside the fuel tank. The fuel filter is contained inside a filter housing having a C-shaped cross-section. A filter element also has a C-shaped cross-section. This type of filter element is formed by bending flat stacked pre-assembled bodies into a C-shape. Other components such as the fuel level gauge, a fuel passage and the like are placed in an open part of the C-shaped cross-section and thus, the fuel filter and the other components are integrated in a high density.

Fuel filter and pump assembly

A cover for a fuel tank opening is molded with insulating resin and a plurality of terminal pins is directly inserted thereinto. A lower housing portion, made of conductive resin and containing a fuel filter element, is weld-connected to the fuel tank side of the cover. A fuel pump is held under the cover. When electricity is supplied to the fuel pump via an electric connector, fuel is discharged from the fuel pump and this discharged fuel is filtered by a fuel filter. Static electricity generated in the fuel filter dissipates through the lower housing portion made of conductive resin. This construction enables suppression of electrostatic voltage generated in the fuel filter. Moreover, a plurality of connector terminals are directly inserted into the upper housing cover portion of the fuel filter housing at the time of molding, which can therefore supply electric power to the fuel pump with a simplified construction.

Fuel supply system

A fuel supply system is installed inside a fuel tank as part of a cover closing an opening of the fuel tank. The fuel filter is integrally fixed to the cover and a fuel pump is mounted via the fuel filter. The fuel filter is in the shape of a partial annulus disposed in a certain angular range. Such system parts as a pressure regulator, an electric connector, a fuel level gauge and a fuel pipe are contained in the remaining angular range of the fuel pump periphery where the fuel filter is not disposed.

A compact pressure regulating valve makes installation work simple and has a hermetic structure of a stationary value member without a specific seal member. A pressure regulator (201) has a body (203) which includes a fuel inlet (215) and an inner periphery for positioning a stationary valve member (205) in a radial direction. When the movable valve member (208) leaves the stationary valve member (205), the valve opens. Operation of the movable valve member (208) is controlled by a diaphragm which moves to balance the pressure of the pressure chamber (211) and the pressure of a back pressure chamber (213) combined with a biasing pressure of a compression coil spring (214). As a result, the pressure of the pressure chamber (211) can be controlled without a specific sealing member or complex structure. In addition, a pressure regulating valve according to the present invention is compact and easy to install, and has no specific member to seal the stationary valve member.

Pressure regulating valve and fuel supply system using the same

A fuel pump for pumping fuel is provided in a sub-tank suspended in a fuel tank in order to reserve a fuel volume necessary for the fuel pump to be started on an inlet side of the fuel pump in the fuel tank. A fuel level holding member formed so as to rise upward on a suction opening side of the fuel pump reserves the fuel in space of the risen part. Thus, a structure for reserving the fuel volume pumped by the fuel pump in the fuel tank can be obtained with a simple construction.

Fuel supply system having a suction filter in a sub-tank

The fixing apparatus for fixing a fuel filter in the present invention comprises a ring portion for fixing fuel filter body securely by utilizing contraction force of resin. The fixing apparatus is made of resin softened by heat. The resin fixing apparatus has ring portion for accommodating and fixing a fuel filter. The inside shape of the ring portion is formed similar and somewhat smaller than the outer cylindrical shape of the fuel filter body. When the ring portion is heated and the resin and resin become flexible, the fuel filter is allowed to be press fitted into the ring portion.
