This invention uses a 4-line color CCD sensor including four line sensors Y, R, G, and B. In a low-speed color read mode, outputs from these sensors are processed by A/D converters and subsequent processing units provided in one-to-one correspondence with the sensors. In a high-speed monochromatic read mode, an output from the Y sensor is divisionally processed by using A/D converters and subsequent processing units provided in one-to-one correspondence not only with the Y sensor but also with the other R, G, and B sensors. This provides an image reading apparatus usable in both the high-speed monochromatic mode and the low-speed color mode and capable of achieving high speed, high accuracy, and low cost.

Method and apparatus for sensing image

Images to be printed include color images and monochromatic images in combination, the color and monochromatic images are transferred onto an intermediate transfer member, in such a manner that no image-bearable area of the intermediate transfer member is left unused. Before all the four colors of the color image are transferred to the intermediate transfer member, the printing of the monochromatic images are completed. A sheet bearing the printed monochromatic images are temporarily stacked and stored so that the sheets can be finally discharged in the original order of the images. In this manner, it is possible to make good use of the intermediate transfer member, thereby shortening the time required for image formation and improving the throughput of the printing operation.

Image forming apparatus having color and monochromatic images transferred to intermediate transfer member

An image forming apparatus has a function for recognizing a sorting mode, a function of recognizing a copy specification, a function of storing an original image, and a function of rotating this stored image. The apparatus has a function of alternately outputting sets of copy sheets in an angular difference of about 90.degree. in accordance with the copy specifications. An operator can discriminate the sets of copy sheets from each other using landscape and portrait copy sheets without using a mechanical sorter mechanism. When a binding unit is added to this image forming apparatus, the apparatus has a function of reversing the reading order of the pages of each set to reproduce the images and alternately binding and outputting the copy sheets at an angular interval of about 90.degree. in units of sets.

Image forming apparatus having electronic sorting by image rotation

This invention modifies printing information from a laser scanner to improve the appearance of printed matter. This improvement takes into account the image data of a target pixel to be printed and the image data of adjacent pixels located before and after the target pixel, the pulse position of the target pixel. An operator can select whether to shift the radiation timing of a laser beam to the left or the right within one pixel, and whether to squeeze the laser beam to reduce its beam size or broaden it to increase its beam size.

Image forming apparatus using variable light beam

A plurality of semiconductor integrated circuit devices are mounted on a film carrier. First electrical connecting sections and first electrical wiring sections for electrically connecting the first electrical connecting sections to the semiconductor integrated circuit devices are provided on the film carrier. Second and third electrical connecting sections and second electrical wiring sections are provided on a film-like probe for electrical characteristic test. The second electrical connecting sections are provided in position corresponding to the first electrical connecting sections of the film carrier. The third electrical connecting sections are used to supply electrical signals to the exterior or derive an electrical signal to the exterior and check the electrical signal. The second electrical wiring sections electrically connects the second and third electrical connecting sections to each other. When the test is effected, the film-like probe and the film carrier are superposed on each other so as to set the second electrical connecting sections of the film-like probe into contact with the first electrical connecting sections of the film carrier. The electrical characteristic test of the semiconductor integrated circuit devices are effected by supplying electrical signals necessary for the electrical characteristic test of the semiconductor integrated circuit devices from the exterior via the third electrical connecting sections or deriving the electrical signals to the exterior and checking the electrical signals.

System and carrier for testing semiconductor integrated circuit devices

A plurality of semiconductor integrated circuit devices are mounted on a film carrier. First electrical connecting sections and first electrical wiring sections for electrically connecting the first electrical connecting sections to the semiconductor integrated circuit devices are provided on the film carrier. Second and third electrical connecting sections and second electrical wiring sections are provided on a film-like probe for electrical characteristic test. The second electrical connecting sections are provided in position corresponding to the first electrical connecting sections of the film carrier. The third electrical connecting sections are used to supply electrical signals to the exterior or derive an electrical signal to the exterior and check the electrical signal. The second electrical wiring sections connects the second and third electrical connecting sections to each other. The film-like probe and the film carrier are superposed on each other so as to set the second electrical connecting sections of the filmlike probe into contact with the first electrical connecting sections of the film carrier.
