Disclosed is a cable identifying system for accurately discriminating one cable from another on site over a long period of time, the system enabling a cable layer or a cable user, when laying out an RFID built-in cable, to do without manually writing any information in the RFID tags built in the cable. One cable having RFID tags built therein can be accurately realized. The individual ID's of the RFID tags are read and stored in a storage apparatus. When a part of the cable is cut, the ID's of the RFID tags nearest to the both end of the cable are read out, and the ID-related data of the RFID tags in the cut-out cable are recorded on a desired medium or electronic information medium.

Methods for manufacturing and application of RFID built-in cable, and dedicated RFID reading systems

A circuit chip having a loop-shaped antenna coil on a main surface and a tag sheet having an antenna pattern on a main surface are prepared, and the circuit chip is mounted on the main surface of the tag sheet so as not to place over the antenna pattern. The circuit chip is placed closely to the antenna pattern, and at least the half of the main surface is desirably faced against the antenna pattern. Thus, signals and/or power can be securely exchanged between the circuit chip (or antenna coil) and the antenna pattern. Therefore, a high-performance and rigid RFID tag can be obtained by roughly aligning the circuit chip and the tag sheet.

RFID tag

A magnetic field probe apparatus includes a loop-like conductor and feeder lines spaced at a distance from the loop-like conductor. The shape of the loop-like conductor and the arrangement of the feeder lines are adjusted in such a manner that the resonance frequency determined by the combination of the inductance of the loop-like conductor line and the capacitance formed between the looped-conductor and the feeder lines, is matched to the frequency of the magnetic field generated by and in the vicinity of a measurement object (e.g. electronic device) or the frequency of the electric signal which generates the magnetic field. With the magnetic field probe apparatus according to this invention, the magnetic field in the vicinity of the measurement object can be measured with high sensitivity.

To provide an RFID (a signal processing circuit) equipped with a single rectangular spiral antenna and being capable of transmitting and receiving an electric power and signal by a plurality of frequency bands therewith, the present invention limits a longitudinal dimension (long sides) of the rectangular spiral antenna designed for transmission and reception of carrier of the HF band thereby to the length suitable for transmission and reception of carrier of the UHF band thereby as well as a widthwise dimension thereof so as to prevent a current waveform due to the carrier of the UHF band from reversing in phase at one of the long sides thereof.

The present invention intends to prevent the communication distance from becoming shorter with a reduction in size of a coil antenna to the chip size and with a consequent decrease of an induced voltage. According to the present invention there is provided a semiconductor chip having a coil antenna and a circuit surface and adapted to transmit and receive signals by radio to and from an external device. The semiconductor chip has a configuration for increasing an electromagnetic coupling coefficient between the coil antenna and the external device. According to a concrete example thereof, a magnetic material is disposed, the coil antenna is formed by a stacked structure comprising plural conductor layers and insulating layers superimposed one on another, or the coil antenna is disposed outside an external form of a circuit of the semiconductor chip.

The present invention provides a magnetic field measuring method and system for determining the magnetic field of an integrated circuit (IC) inside the IC package, including the pre-packaged IC. In one embodiment, induced voltages due only to the magnetic field are determined at measurement heights on the order of the line spacings in an integrated circuit. A magnetic probe is used; the probe has a loop of wire parallel to the current, for measuring the induced voltage of the horizontal component of the magnetic field. The induced voltage due to the electric field is removed by using a calculation including the difference of two measurements. The magnetic field distribution for the integrated circuit may be determined by using the above procedure on a grid like pattern above the IC.
