An occupant restraint system of the present invention includes a curtain airbag (), a side airbag (), a seat belt () with a built-in pretensioner, and a rollover detection device () configured to detect or predict rollover of a vehicle (). The occupant restraint system further includes a control device () configured to perform control of deploying the side airbag when the rollover of the vehicle is detected or predicted by the rollover detection device, activating the pretensioner () after a predetermined time elapses from the deployment of the side airbag, and then deploying the curtain airbag.

Occupant restraint system and occupant restraint method

A vehicle occupant restraint system including: a seatbelt device including a shoulder belt portion restraining a part of a vehicle occupant from one of shoulders to a chest, and a lap belt portion restraining a waist of the vehicle occupant; an upper airbag provided in the shoulder belt portion, and configured to be deployed forward from the shoulder belt portion; a lower airbag provided in the lap belt portion, and configured to be deployed forward from the lap belt portion, the deployed upper and lower airbags coming into contact with each other in a vertical direction; and a movement restraining portion restraining relative movement of the deployed upper and lower airbags in a front-rear direction, extending downward from a lower side of the deployed upper airbag, and positioned in the rear of the deployed lower airbag.

Vehicle occupant restraint system

A vehicle occupant protection system includes: a seat belt apparatus including a shoulder belt () and a lap belt (); an upper air bag (); a lower air bag (); and an inflation limiting structure () which is provided in the lower air bag and limits inflation of a part of the lower air bag in a vehicle back-and-forth direction when the lower air bag is inflated. When the vehicle collision is detected or predicted, the upper and lower air bags are inflated and vertically come into contact with each other. Further, an upper part () of the inflated lower air bag positioned above the inflation limiting structure is pressed by the upper air bag and bends toward the front of the vehicle at the inflation limiting structure.

Vehicle occupant protection system

To provide a passenger protective device and method that can achieve a stable protective performance even when deploying the airbag from the seat belt, thus allowing for appropriate restraint of the passenger's head. Passenger protective devicemakes the timing in which the internal pressure of thigh airbagpeaks slower than the timing in which the internal pressure of head airbagpeaks. In addition, it also makes the timing in which the capacity of thigh airbagreaches the maximum slower than the timing in which the capacity of head airbagreaches the maximum. In this manner, the passenger's head, which moves due to inertial force, is caught by head airbagand head airbagis supported by thigh airbag, which is softer than said airbag. Therefore, the passenger's head can be caught softly.

Passenger protective device and method

A vehicular body front structure, includes: 1) a reactive force member disposed adjacent to a front edge part of a vehicular body and configured to be displaceable from i) a received state where the reactive force member is received in the vehicular body to ii) a protruding state where the reactive force member protrudes to a position higher than a surface of the vehicular body; 2) a mover mechanism disposed between the vehicular body and the reactive force member and configured to displace the reactive force member from the received state to the protruding state; and 3) a shock sensor configured to sense or calculate a collision of the vehicular body with an obstacle to thereby output a sensing signal for moving the mover mechanism.
