A fail-safe circuit of a fixed speed traveling apparatus wherein there are provided with a control valve for introducing an engine negative pressure to an actuator which controls a throttle opening degree, a release valve for introducing an atmospheric pressure to an actuator and a control circuit for controlling the control valve and the release valve. At brake ON, a first cancel signal is supplied to the control circuit for canceling a fixed speed traveling and to open a current passage of the release valve. A second cancel signal is generated to the control circuit in the case where the current passage of the release valve is open.

Fail-safe circuit of a fixed speed traveling apparatus

A device for controlling the speed of an automotive vehicle based on a preselected vehicle speed, including a vehicle speed detector, an actual speed setting switch, a vehicle speed selection unit, a selected speed presetting switch, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit receives the signals from the vehicle speed detector, the actual speed setting switch, the vehicle speed selection unit, and the selected speed presetting switch and generates a signal for control of the output of the vehicle engine.

Automotive vehicle speed control device based on a preselected speed

A cruise control system for an automotive vehicle, which automatically controls the throttle valve opening to maintain the vehicle speed constant without a driver's operation of the accelerator pedal once the vehicle speed is set to a desired value, is designed so that acceleration at the time of operating an increase set switch or resume switch is increased to ensure a comfortable drive while ascending a long slope. To this end, the cruise control system is provided with an overdrive controller which releases the overdrive at the time of operating the increase set switch and which resumes the overdrive at the time of releasing the operation of the increase set switch, or an overdrive controller which releases the overdrive at the time of operating the resume switch when the vehicle speed at that time is sufficiently lower than the set speed and which resumes the overdrive when the vehicle speed has been restored substantially to the set speed. Further, in the cruise control system which is adapted to prevent a decrease in the vehicle speed during hill climbing by releasing and resuming the overdrive, a timer is provided which is reset when the vehicle speed has been reduced and is set when the vehicle speed has been restored substantially to the set speed. Even if the vehicle speed has been restored to the set speed, resumption of the overdrive is retarded by the set time of the timer.

Cruise control system for automotive vehicle

A cruise control system for an automotive vehicle which automatically controls the throttle valve opening to maintain the vehicle speed constant without a driver's operation of the accelerator pedal once the vehicle speed is set to a desired value, is designed so that acceleration at the time of operating an increase set switch or resume switch is increased to ensure a comfortable drive while ascending a long slope. Apparatus for controlling the speed of an automobile in which the speed is maintained at a preset speed when a resume switch is manipulated. A memory stores data corresponding to the preset speed. The difference between the preset speed and the actual speed of the automobile is detected and this difference is employed to switch the reduction ratio of transmission gears of the automobile. The reduction ratio is increased when the actual speed becomes a predetermined speed less than the preset speed and when a predetermined condition is established. The predetermined condition is, for example, a condition in which the actual speed is less than the predetermined speed, the actual degree of acceleration is less than the predetermined degree of acceleration, or a predetermined time period elapses after the resume switch is manipulated.

Apparatus for controlling the speed of an automobile

A set switch 28 is connected via a first gate 34 to an analog switch 16, a speed incrementing circuit 36, and a latch circuit 30, but is connected directly to a second gate 22. When set switch 28 is actuated, a setting signal is passed through the first gate 34, unless the gate is closed by a signal from an upper-speed limit switch 38, thereby actuating analog switch 16 to pass vehicle speed signals from detector 10 to a storage device 18, and actuating latch circuit 30 to partially enable second gate 22. When set switch 28 is released, analog switch 16 closes, thereby storing the present vehicle speed signal in device 18 as a desired speed signal, and second gate 22 is fully enabled, thereby passing an actual speed/desired speed difference signal from comparator 20 to a speed controller 26. Desired speed can be incremented via circuit 36 by tap-up actuation of set switch 28, but the direct connection of set switch 28 to second gate 22 permits speed retard by actuation of set switch 28 even if the first gate is shut by a signal from upper-speed limit switch 38.

Vehicle speed control apparatus

A warning display system provides a warning when it detects an abnormal condition in an operating element closely related to the safe operation of a vehicle. An abnormal condition of an operating element is detected by one of a plurality of sensors each provided at a corresponding operating element. Detected signals of the sensors are fed as input to the fixed contacts of a rotary switch. The sliding arm of the rotary switch and a rotary drum are connected to a rotary driving device. The rotary driving device is driven step by step by the output of an energization circuit which generates a pulse signal. The drum has a plurality of display items indicated on its circumference, which display items respectively correspond to each fixed contact of the rotary switch. A display window is provided adjacent the drum for visual observation of one of the display items at a time. A control circuit discontinues the operation of the energization circuit when the sliding arm of the rotary switch reaches the position of the fixed contact corresponding to the sensor which detects an abnormal condition.

Warning display system for vehicles

Abnormal conditions of the operating members of an automotive vehicle are detected by a plurality of sensors provided at the operating members. Detection signals of the sensors are fed as input to a plurality of warning issuing devices of the vehicle warning system. A priority sequence judging circuit is connected between the sensors and the warning issuing devices. The priority sequence judging circuit operates when more than one of the sensors detect abnormal conditions simultaneously, determines the degree of importance of the detected signals from the sensors and preferentially provides the most important signals as outputs to the warning issuing devices in accordance with the order of their importance. A check circuit is connected to the warning issuing devices. The check circuit artificially creates the same condition as that obtained when the sensors detect abnormalities to actuate all the warning issuing devices and releases such condition in accordance with a predetermined sequence at predetermined time delays. The warning issuing devices are thereby checked for normal operation in accordance with the sequence.
