A device for controlling a rotation of a lens in a digital camera includes a lens connected to and exposed out of the housing of a digital camera and a motor disposed within the housing of the digital camera. The lens is provided with a shaft which extends through the housing to have an end extending into the interior of the housing which is disposed with a follower gear. The motor has a drive spindle which is disposed with a driving gear. A set of reduction gears are disposed between and engageable with the follower gear on the shaft of the lens and the driving gear on the drive spindle of the motor. By means of the rotation of the motor, the lens is rotatable horizontally, while the digital camera remains stationary, to a desired direction in order to take a picture.

Device for controlling a rotation of a lens in a digital camera

A focusing and defocusing mechanism incorporated in a digital camera lens for simplifying the lens structure. The mechanism includes an outer lens barrel, a cam barrel having a slot of multiple slopes for adapting to the outer lens barrel, a guide pin affixed onto the outer wall of the outer lens barrel for rotating into the slot of the multiple slopes, and controlling elements affixed to the guide pin for controlling the distance and movement of the guide pin on the slot of multiple slopes.

Spring-free type focusing and defocusing mechanism for a digital camera

An aperture switching device to be incorporated in a digital cameral for moving an aperture plate having an aperture formed thereon with respect to a lens between a shutting position where the lens is partially covered by the aperture plate with the aperture aligned with the lens and an open position where the lens is not covered by the aperture plate, includes a slide block formed on the aperture plate, a guide member mounted to the lens and having a guide channel to slidably receive the slide block therein. A driving device has an output rod movable along an arc path and mechanically coupled to the aperture plate to reciprocate the slide block along the guide channel so as to move the aperture plate between the shutting position and the open position. The mechanical coupling between the driving device and the aperture plate may include a pinion rotated by the driving device and engaged by a rack provided on the aperture plate. Alternatively, the mechanical coupling may include a transverse channel formed on the aperture plate to receive the output rod of the driving device therein. The transverse channel extends in a direction substantially normal to the movement of the aperture plate so as to convert the arcuated movement of the rod into linear motion of the aperture plate.

Aperture switching device

An optical scanning apparatus including a first optical unit and a second optical unit used to illuminate a document and direct the reflected light via a lens unit to the light sensing device; a movement mechanism used to move the first and second optical units in such a way that the optical path from the light source to the lens unit is always a fixed length. The movement mechanism includes a first driving unit having a first driving wheel, a first passive wheel, and a first transmission member coupling the first driving and passive wheels and affixed to the first optical unit; a second driving unit having a second driving wheel, a second passive wheel, and a second transmission member coupling the second driving and passive wheels and affixed to the second optical unit; and a driving motor. The diameter of the first driving wheel is of a predetermined multiple of that of the second driving wheel such that the optical path from the light source to the lens unit is always a fixed length.

Optical scanning apparatus

A multi-lens changing mechanism is disclosed for use in optical scanners; it comprises: (a) a main mechanism having a bottom, first and second sides, and an aperture as an inlet for receiving light, each of the first and second sides having a magnetic means attached thereto; (b) a sliding lens carriage including at least two lenses, the sliding lens carriage being slidable within the main mechanism: and (c) a driving mechanism including a guide rod and a swinging arm. The guide rod is fitted at the bottom of the main mechanism, and is able to move back and forth. The swinging arm has a first end attached to the sliding lens carriage and a second end pivotally mounted to the main mechanism such that the swinging arm will swing when it is driven by the guide rod. The swinging arm of the driving mechanism is constructed such that a vertical movement of the guide rod is convened into a horizontal movement of the sliding lens carriage so as to switch between different lenses Furthermore, the sliding lens carriage has first and second sides opposite the first and second sides of the main mechanism, respectively, each of the first and second sides of the sliding lens carriage is provided with a magnetic means, which, in cooperation with the magnetic means provided on the main mechanism, causes the sliding lens carriage to be firmly but movably attached onto either of the first or second side of the main mechanism so as to effectuate a lens-changing function.
