It is possible to provide a temperature detection ink, which allows color initialization by a simple method and discolors with addition of time and temperature at a reaction temperature or higher. To solve the problem, the temperature detection ink according to the present invention includes a temperature detection material and a solvent. The temperature detection material has a structure in which a thermosensitive material containing a leuco dye, a color-developing agent, and a decolorant is contained in a microcapsule, or a structure in which a phase containing the thermosensitive material is phase-separated from a matrix material. The thermosensitive material is solidified while being decolored by cooling from a molten state to a glass transition temperature or lower at a predetermined rate or higher. The thermosensitive material has a glass transition temperature of −20 to 60° C., and a melting point that is 60 to 250° C. and lower than the boiling point of the solvent.

An object of the present invention is to provide a temperature sensing material that changes a color density continuously with the lapse of time at a temperature not lower or higher than a predetermined temperature and a temperature deviation time estimating system using it. In order to achieve the above object, the temperature sensing material according to the present invention is a temperature sensing material having a structure of dispersing a temperature indicating material that changes color by crystallization in a dispersion medium and is characterized in that an average particle size of the temperature indicating material is not larger than a resolution when observed and a volume fraction of the temperature indicating material to the temperature sensing material is not less than 5% to less than 90%.

An object of the present invention is to provide a temperature detection material that can be manufactured through a simple step and is excellent in handleability. In order to solve the above problem, the temperature detection material according to the present invention includes a temperature-indicating material including a leuco dye, a color developer, and a color eraser and a matrix material; and is characterized in that the matrix material is in a solid state, a melting point of the matrix material is higher than a melting point of the temperature-indicating material, and a phase separation structure in which the temperature-indicating material disperses in the matrix material is formed.

A liquid crystal display includes: a pair of substrates including at least one transparent substrate; a liquid crystal layer disposed between the pair of substrates; and an electrode group formed on at least one of the pair of substrates so as to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal layer contains at least one kind of liquid crystalline compound and at least one kind of chiral dopant. The concentration c of the chiral dopant is lower than a saturation solubility s thereof. The concentration c of the chiral dopant and a helical twisting power [HTP] of the chiral dopant satisfy a relation of [HTP]&#xb7;c&#x2267;5.5 (&#x3bc;m).

There is provided a liquid crystal device that exhibits excellent response properties over a wide temperature range even when the weight percentage of the polymerizable monomer used for generating polymers is decreased. The present invention reduces a connection failure between two conductive layers which are connected with each other via a through hole in a display device and reduces a defect of an orientation film formed on a TFT substrate side in a liquid crystal display device. A display device includes a display panel in which a first conductive layer formed on a surface of a substrate, and a second conductive layer which is formed over the first conductive layer as viewed from a surface of the substrate by way of a thin film layer formed of one insulation film or two or more stacked thin films including one insulation film are electrically connected with each other in an opening portion formed in the thin film layer. Out of opening ends of the opening portion of the thin film layer, an outer periphery of the opening end remote from the surface of the substrate changes a distance from the surface of the substrate one time or more during one turn of the outer periphery.

An object of the present invention is to obtain color filters having a high contrast, a high color purity and an improved transmittance for blue color, and a display using the color filters. In the present invention, there is used a colored composition for color filter comprising at least one coloring agent, a base polymer and at least one solvent, said base polymer containing a polyamicacid whose light transmittance decreases by 2% or less in the visible region (wavelength: 400 nm to 800 nm).

In an active matrix type liquid crystal display device using a liquid crystal of negative dielectric anisotropy, low voltage driving and high quality display are made compatible. A liquid crystal display device has: a pair of substrates ; a liquid crystal layer ; a common electrode , a pixel electrode , a signal electrode , and an active element arranged on the substrate so that an electric field parallel to the plane of the substrate is generated by applying a voltage; alignment film formed on the substrate ; and a polarizer ; wherein the liquid crystal of negative dielectric anisotropy containing liquid crystal molecule having dicyanobenzene structure in its molecule structure is used. Realizing low driving voltage, high contrast, and high response speed in an active matrix type liquid crystal display device of the in-plane switching mode type. The construction of the liquid crystal display device according to the present invention comprises a pair of substrates whose spacing is determined by spacers placed in a non-displaying region, a liquid crystal layer filled in the space between said pair of substrates, a set of electrodes formed on the surface of one of the substrates of said pair of substrates for applying an electric field to said liquid crystal layer, and a pair of optical polarizers placed so that they enclose said liquid crystal layer and with their axes of polarization almost at right angles to each other, with the liquid crystal layer containing 40% or more weight percentage or 100% or less weight percentage of a constituent component with a dielectric anisotropy of &Dgr;&isin;&lE;1, the directions of controlled orientation of liquid crystal molecules at the two surfaces between said liquid crystal layer and said pair of substrates being almost parallel, and with the axis of polarization of one of the polarizers being almost aligned with the direction of controlled orientation of liquid crystal molecules at said surfaces.
