An optical connecting component is an optical connecting component to be connected to another optical connecting component, which includes an optical waveguide component, an alignment component for fixing the optical waveguide component, and a magnetic structure integrated with the alignment component. A positioning structure is provided on a connecting end face of the alignment component, in which the positioning structure determines a relative position between the connecting end face and a connecting end face of an alignment component provided in the other optical connecting component.

The guide member is made of a photocurable resin. On the plane perpendicular to the direction in which the optical fiber is inserted into the space, the diameter of an inscribed circle within an inner wall of the guide member configured to form the space is substantially identical to the outer diameter of the optical fiber. The center of the inscribed circle coincides with the center of the core exposed from the connection surface of the optical waveguide device when viewed in the direction in which the optical fiber is inserted.

An optical fiber guide structure includes a guide member that is configured to be erected on a connection end surface of an optical waveguide device and forms a space for accommodating a leading end portion of an optical fiber to be connected to the optical waveguide device. The guide member is formed of an elastically deformable material, and in a specific region a longitudinal direction of the guide member, and a diameter of an inscribed circle in contact with an inner wall of the guide member in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is smaller than an outer diameter of the optical fiber.

A light conversion portion includes a conversion material that converts infrared light to visible light. A reflection portion is fixed to a position on a main substrate at which the reflection portion faces an output end of an optical waveguide chip on the side from which light is output to an external space. The reflection portion includes a reflection surface that faces the output end and is inclined with respect to a plane of the main substrate such that a reflection direction is toward the upper side of the main substrate. The reflection surface reflects near infrared light.

Wavelength checker

An optical connector includes a ferrule, an optical fiber, a tube, and a holding component. The ferrule includes a guide hole. The ferrule is formed from either crystallized glass, borosilicate glass, or quartz glass. The optical fiber includes an optical fiber body and a cover that covers the optical fiber body. The tube is disposed on the fiber extension side of one end of the guide hole and houses the optical fiber extending out from the fiber extension side. The tube is formed from either glass or polyimide resin.

Provided is an optical connection component that is constituted of a plate-shaped substrate configured to transmit light to be used, and a resin optical waveguide. The resin optical waveguide is constituted of a resin core formed with a resin through which light to be used passes. For example, the resin core is formed with a light-cured resin. The resin optical waveguide uses air surrounding the resin core as a cladding. The resin core has a folded back structure in which the resin core once separates from the surface of the substrate and then returns to the surface of the substrate, and is connected to each of a first input/output end and a second input/output end of the substrate.

Optical device

Optical alignment between an optical waveguide device and an optical connection part is realized easily and at low cost. An optical circuit in which optical waveguides to be connected to optical fibers are formed includes: an alignment optical waveguide configured to be opposed to, on an optical waveguide edge face to which an optical connection part having guide holes for insertion of core wires of the optical fibers is to be fixed, a guide hole into which an alignment optical fiber is to be inserted; and a light path changing member configured to change a path of light to a vertical direction with respect to the optical axis direction of the core of the alignment optical waveguide.

Optical circuit and optical connection structure

An embodiment optical body is provided in a propagation path of light between a Si waveguide and an optical fiber. The optical body changes a course of some of radiation mode light, which is emitted from the Si waveguide and propagates in a direction away from an optical axis thereof, to obtain waveguide mode light passing through itself. Thus, the amount of waveguide mode light incident on the optical fiber increases, and the coupling efficiency between the Si waveguide and the optical fiber is improved.
