A control method for an accelerator according to the present embodiment is a control method for an accelerator that supplies a current generating a magnetic field to a plurality of deflection electromagnets based on a current-value instruction signal. The method includes providing a flat region that makes a current value of the deflection electromagnet constant in a case of an acceleration cycle involving emission of the charged particles, not providing the flat region in the current-value instruction signal in a case of an acceleration cycle, smoothing time change of a current value in a transition of the current value to the flat region or a transition from the flat region, and determining a time required for the smoothing based on a predetermined energy for extracting the charged particles or a difference between energies before and after change to the predetermined extraction energy.

Control method for accelerator, control device for accelerator, and particle-beam radiation treatment system

Disclosed a particle accelerator that accelerates a charged particle beam while circulating the charged particle beam as a circulating beam and outputs some of the circulating beam as an output beam, the particle accelerator including: a first deflection section and a second deflection sections each having a deflection electromagnet; a first straight section, a second straight section, and third straight section each not having the deflection electromagnet; and a control unit, wherein a preceding output deflector of the first straight section deflects some of the circulating beam toward an inner side of a circulating trajectory of the circulating beam to separate the some of the circulating beam as an output beam, wherein a succeeding output deflector of the third straight section deflects the output beam separated from the circulating beam by the preceding output deflector toward an outer side of the circulating trajectory of the circulating beam, and wherein the control unit controls at least the quadrupole electromagnet such that a phase advance of a betatron oscillation of the output beam is 270±45 degrees in a section from the preceding output deflector to the succeeding output deflector.

A charged particle emission control technique where slow extraction of a charged particle beam from a synchrotron can be stably performed even in a state where beam adjustment has not been performed or completed. A charged particle emission control device includes a first receiver configured to receive a first detection signal obtained by detecting a current value of charged particles orbiting in a synchrotron; an arithmetic processor configured to time-differentiate the first detection signal and output a beam-intensity equivalent-value; and an emission controller configured to output a control signal for emitting a charged particle beam from the synchrotron to a beam transport system in such a manner that the beam intensity-equivalent value matches a target value.

The coil pair generates an effective magnetic field region in which a magnetic field is oriented in a direction (z-axis) perpendicular to a traveling direction (x-axis) of a charged particle beam. According to some embodiments, an accelerator control device has a high-frequency power controller and a timing controller. The high-frequency power controller supplies high frequency power for accelerating a charged particle beam to an accelerator. The timing controller controls an operation timing of a blocker that blocks the charged particle beam emitted from the accelerator based on a current value of the charged particle beam circulating in the accelerator.
