An image sensor includes an optical system including a liquid lens, a nonvolatile memory that stores property information about an amount of change in a refractive power of the liquid lens in response to an application voltage, a temperature sensor that detects a temperature of the liquid lens, and a body module. The optical system, the nonvolatile memory, and the temperature sensor are disconnectable from the body module that includes a controller that performs image processing on image data received from a imaging device and performs liquid lens control for determining the application voltage to be applied to the liquid lens based on the property information stored in the nonvolatile memory, the temperature of the liquid lens detected by the temperature sensor, and a target value for the refractive power of the liquid lens and applying the application voltage to the liquid lens.

An image sensor includes a body module including a refractive power controller that adjusts an application voltage applicable to a liquid lens in a lens module to control a refractive power of the liquid lens, a recognition processor that analyzes, after a preset period elapses from when the refractive power controller changes the application voltage to the liquid lens, image data from an imaging device in an imaging module, and an adjuster that reads first information from a memory in the lens module and second information from a memory in the imaging module and adjusts, based on the first and second information, the preset period to a period corresponding to a combination of the lens module and the imaging device. The first information indicates a specification for or a type of the lens module. The second information indicates a specification for or a type of the imaging device.

An image sensor includes an imaging device, an optical system including a liquid lens, a temperature sensor that detects a temperature of the liquid lens, a heater that heats the liquid lens, a temperature adjuster that controls the heater to adjust the temperature of the liquid lens to a predetermined temperature, a nonvolatile memory storing property information about the liquid lens, a refractive power controller that determines, based on a target refractive power and the property information stored in the nonvolatile memory, an application voltage applicable to the liquid lens adjusted to have the predetermined temperature and applies the application voltage to the liquid lens to control a refractive power of the liquid lens to match the target refractive power, and an image processor. The optical system, the nonvolatile memory, and the temperature sensor are disconnectable from a body module including the refractive power controller and the image processor.

An image sensor includes an imaging device, an optical system including a liquid lens to form an image of a subject on an imaging surface of the imaging device, and a controller that performs a refractive power control process of adjusting an application voltage applicable to the liquid lens to control a refractive power of the liquid lens, and a recognition process of analyzing image data from the imaging device to recognize predetermined information about the subject. The controller is operable in a plurality of operation modes each with a different wait period from a change in the application voltage to the liquid lens in response to the refractive power control process to a start of the recognition process.

The disclosure provides an image sensor. A body module of the image sensor acquires specification information of each module from the installed imaging module and lens module, generates shading correction information corresponding to the combination of the installed two modules based on the acquired specification information, and performs shading correction of a content corresponding to the generated shading correction information on image data from the imaging module.

An image sensor capable of performing satisfactory distortion aberration correction on an imaging result regardless of a combination of a lens module and an imaging module being used is provided. A main body module of an image sensor acquires size information of an imaging element from a mounted imaging module, acquires distortion aberration characteristic information of an optical system from the mounted lens module, and performs distortion aberration correction using the acquired information.
