Provided is an LED device presenting minimal risk of bottom-surface contamination even when foreign substances such as liquids adhere thereto. The LED device has an LED die, a submount substrate on the surface of which the LED die is mounted, a frame-shaped electrode disposed along the outer circumferential part of the bottom surface of the submount substrate, and an inner-side electrode surrounded by the frame-shaped electrode and connected to the electrode of the LED die. In the LED device, the frame-shaped electrode is disposed along the entire outer circumferential part of the bottom surface. In an LED device, the bottom surface is rectangular, and the frame-shaped electrode is disposed along three sides of the bottom surface.

In an aspect of the present invention, a light-emitting device includes a substrate; a first electrode and a second electrode arranged on an upper surface of the substrate with a gap between the first electrode and the second electrode, the gap being positioned at a central portion of the upper surface of the substrate; a first light-emitting diode element electrically mounted on the first electrode; and a second light-emitting diode element electrically mounted on the second electrode, wherein the first electrode includes a first inner portion and a first outer portion that are two equal area portions divided at a center line of the first electrode, and the first light-emitting diode element is mounted on the first outer portion of the first electrode, and wherein the second electrode includes a second inner portion and a second outer portion that are two equal area portions divided at a center line of the second electrode, and the second light-emitting diode element is mounted on the second outer portion of the second electrode.

In a first aspect of the present invention, a light-emitting diode includes a light-emitting element with a p-n junction, a first light-transmitting member including a phosphor and sealing the light-emitting element, and first and second covers disposed on opposite surfaces of the first light-transmitting member. It is disclosed that the first and second covers extend over edges of the opposite surfaces of the first light-transmitting member. In a second aspect of the present invention, a first cover disposed on a first parallel surface of a first light-transmitting member can be greater in thickness than a second cover. In some embodiments, it is disclosed that a second light-transmitting member with higher diffusion coefficient than the first light-transmitting member is disposed in contact with a first perpendicular surface of the first light-transmitting member.

Light-emitting diode and lighting device including the same

A light-emitting device is provided that aims not to affect a service life and characteristics of light emission and includes two electrodes formed on the upper surface of a substrate with a gap at a central portion of the upper surface of the substrate between the two electrodes, a first light-emitting diode element mounted on the first electrode, and a second light-emitting diode element mounted on the second electrode. The first light-emitting diode element includes a pair of element electrodes on an upper surface of the first light-emitting diode element and the second light-emitting diode element includes a pair of element electrodes on an upper surface of the second light-emitting diode element. The first light-emitting diode element is connected by a wire to the first electrode and/or the second electrode. A light-emitting diode includes a substrate, a light-emitting diode element mounted on an upper surface of the substrate, and a sealing member that covers the light-emitting diode element. Side-surface light-emitting unit and illuminated panel using the same

A through-hole extending from an element-mounting surface to a back surface of a substrate is formed along an edge area of a bottom surface of the substrate. This through-hole is filled with a conductive resin paste directly into a quarter through-hole made in the substrate. This makes the conductive resin paste firmly adhere to the substrate preventing the conductive resin paste from being peeling off from the quarter through-hole even if the through-hole is reduced in diameter or has a cross-sectional configuration.
