A vehicle periphery monitoring device includes a first bird's-eye view image generation section generating a first bird's-eye view image through a two-dimensional plane projective transformation based on a photographed image acquired by an in-vehicle camera module, a second bird's-eye view image generation section generating a second bird's-eye view image through a three-dimensional plane projective transformation based on the photographed image, and a displaying image generation section generating a first displaying image for monitor displaying from the first bird's-eye view image and a second displaying image for monitor displaying having a higher displaying magnification than the first displaying image, from a predetermined area of the second bird's-eye view image corresponding to a predetermined area of the first bird's-eye view image.

A parking assistance apparatus has a region detector capable of detecting a plurality of possible parking regions where a vehicle can park in at least one side to the left or right of the vehicle, a photographic image of the scenery surrounding the vehicle including the possible parking regions is displayed on a monitor device, the possible parking regions detected by the region detector are superimposed on the photographic image as graphic images showing parking target candidates in all of the corresponding positions, and one of the parking target candidates can be selected as a parking target on the basis of a command input from a driving device of the vehicle.

A soundings monitoring system for a vehicle includes a first camera capturing a fist imaging surface, a second camera capturing a second imaging surface, and a monitor for displaying a first image of the first imaging surface and a second image of the second imaging surface. A standard point is specified relative to the vehicle, the first image and the second image are synthesized and displayed on the monitor so that a coordinate position of the standard point in an expanded imaging surface from the first imaging surface and a coordinate position of the standard point in the second imaging surface match each other, and an imaginary line including the standard point and extending over the first image and the second image is displayed on the monitor in such a manner that the imaginary line is superimposed on the synthesized image of the first image and the second image.

Surroundings monitoring system for a vehicle

A parking assist device includes a monitor () for displaying a captured image from a camera (), assist information output means for providing assistance during introduction of a vehicle into a parking position, and correction control means () for correcting an inappropriate operation performed when the vehicle is introduced into the parking position. When a steering operation, an accelerator operation, or a brake operation is inappropriate, the correction control means () performs control to correct the travel course and the stop position. Thus, even if the driver performs an inappropriate operation when introducing the vehicle into the parking position, the driver can appropriately introduce the vehicle into the parking position according to the display on the monitor ().

Parking assist device

A parking assist apparatus includes a monitor displaying an image captured by a camera mounted to a vehicle for capturing an image in a moving direction of the vehicle and an assist information output device outputting assist information for assisting a parking operation and displaying the assist information on the monitor, wherein the assist information output device: calculates a locus for guiding the vehicle to a parking position specified on the image displayed on the monitor; sets a target position on the locus for guiding the vehicle to the parking position; outputs guide information corresponding to the target position so as to be displayed on the locus in the image displayed on the monitor; and outputs a navigation mark corresponding to a current position of the vehicle so as to be displayed on the monitor.

A monitoring system for monitoring surroundings of a vehicle by displaying images taken by a plurality of cameras provided at the vehicle on a display apparatus provided in a vehicle compartment includes an image processing portion. The image processing portion includes a boundary-determining portion for determining a boundary of the neighboring images taken by the plurality of cameras for synthesizing the neighboring images in a horizontal direction by approximating the boundary to an exponential curve, a horizontally normalizing portion for normalizing the neighboring images in a horizontal direction so that the boundary approximated to the exponential curve is converted into a linear vertical boundary, a vertically compensating portion for compensating a vertical displacement between the neighboring images on the linear vertical boundary, and a pixel-adjusting portion for adjusting the number of pixels of the synthesized image to the number of pixels suitable for displaying the synthesized image produced by the image processing portion on the display apparatus.
