A secondary battery has a positive electrode, an electrolyte, and a negative electrode. The electrolyte is made up of a high molecular gel electrolyte comprising a matrix polymer and an electrolyte solution included in the matrix polymer. The electrolyte solution is formed by dissolving an ionic compound in a nonaqueous organic solvent. The matrix polymer forms a high molecular network by dispersing (i) a compound containing at least two polymerizable functional groups, (ii) compound having a polymerizable functional group and containing one of a carbonyl group, an amido group, and an oxyalkylene group, and (iii) a vinylidene fluoride polymer and polymerizing them.

High molecular gel electrolyte and secondary battery using the same

A heat resistant derivative conductive polymer containing nitrogen atoms exclusively in units of polyaniline or a derivative thereof contains a sulfonic acid compound as a dopant, and the percentage of sulfonic acid groups per recurring unit of the polyaniline or derivative thereof is set to 28 to 40%. Also, a solid electrolytic capacitor uses a solid electrolyte of polyaniline or derivative thereof containing a sulfonic acid compound as a dopant, wherein the percentage of sulfonic acid groups per recurring unit of polyaniline or derivative thereof is set to 28 to 40%. In this selected range of the concentration of the dopant, the conductivity and the pyrolysis commencement temperature characteristics are excellent.

Solid electrolytic capacitor with heat resisting polyaniline and method

A process for the preparation of polyaniline by an oxidation polymerization of aniline with use of an oxidizing agent and a protonic acid, wherein the pKa value of a byproduct produced by the reduction of the oxidizing agent is greater than the pKa value of the protonic acid. The protonic acid is an aromatic sulfonic acid compound having at least a sulfonic-acid group. A process is also provided for the formation of a solid electrolytic capacitor including an electrolyte of the polyaniline. A method is provided of improving the electrical conductivity of the polyaniline prepared by the above process. The polyaniline is subjected to a heat treatment in a vacuum or an inert gas in which a partial pressure of oxygen is 10 mmHg or below.

Method of forming a solid electrolytic capacitor

In a solid electrolyte capacitor in which the solid electrolyte is polyaniline or a polymer of an aniline derivative doped with a prototnic acid, a disulfonic acid represented by the general formula (1) is used as the protonic acid to enhance high-temperature endurance and humidity resistance of the solid electrolyte: ##STR1## where R is m-phenylene, p-phenylene or a C.sub.7 to C.sub.10 bridged cycloalkylene group, and n and m are independently integers from 1 to 3. Disulfonic acids of the general formula (1) are novel compounds.

Solid electrolyte capacitor using polyaniline doped with disulfonic acid

A light-resistant polyaniline light-shielding film, comprising a thin polyaniline film in which Lewis acid is contained in an amount of 0.1 to 5 mol % per monomer unit of the polyaniline. The thin film is used as a black matrix for a liquid crystal display device. The device thus obtained has high reliability.
