The present disclosure describes systems, methods, and apparatus that facilitate exercise. The system may include one or more convenient, fun, easy to use and low impact exercise apparatuses. An exercise apparatus may comprise one or more physical user interface components configured to engage one or more body parts of the user. The user may perform exercises by exerting forces on individual ones of the one or more user interface components. In some implementations, gameplay may be incorporated into one or more exercises through a game interface presented to the users. Users may be coached during gameplay to perform one or more exercises such that exercise and gameplay may be seamlessly integrated.

Exercise systems, methods, and apparatuses configured for evaluating muscular activity of users during physical exercise and/or providing feedback to users

An exercise system may be configured to gather and quantify data related to energy expenditure during physical activity. The exercise system may include at least one force sensing node and a portable hub that is physically separate and distinct from the at least one force sensing node. The at least one force sensing node may be configured to gather data related to energy expenditure during physical activity. The portable hub may be configured to quantify data related to energy expended during physical activity. For example, according to exemplary implementations, the portable hub may be include a processor configured to execute an exercise analysis module. The exercise analysis module may be configured to determine one or more exercise parameters based on an output signal generated at the at least one force sensing node responsive to force exerted on the at least one force sensing node during physical activity.

Physical activity monitoring system

Force measurement systems and methods are disclosed for accurate real-time measurement of forces. The system is configured to measure force as a function of time. The system may comprise a handheld device capable of measuring a force externally applied to opposing surface regions thereof for the purpose of monitoring or directing isometric exercises for personal wellness. Additionally, the system may be configured to communicate force measurement data to a remote device or server.

A personal wellness system may facilitate merchandizing and/or socializing via personal wellness devices. Facilitating a user to provide inputs to a computing platform by applying varying pressure to one or more external points on a pressure sensitive peripheral device is disclosed. The pressure sensitive peripheral device may include one or more pressure sensors disposed within a housing body or housing bodies of the pressure sensitive peripheral device. The pressure sensors may provide pressure signals conveying information associated with compressive forces applied to the housing body or bodies of the pressure sensitive peripheral device. Inputs to control one or more aspects of a computing platform coupled to the pressure sensitive peripheral device may be provided based on the pressure signals. The one or more aspects of the computing platform may include one or more aspects of a graphical user interface on a display associated with the computing platform, operational aspects of the computing platform and/or any other aspects of the computing platform.

Pressure sensitive peripheral devices, and associated methods of use

A personal wellness system may facilitate personal wellness management via personal wellness devices. The personal wellness devices may be portable, handheld devices configured to facilitate personal exercise and personal wellness management using the device. Exercises performed using the personal wellness devices may be tracked based on forces exerted on the personal wellness device, a location and/or motion of the personal wellness device, and/or other bases for tracking personal exercise. Tracked exercises may be a basis for determining exercise parameters such as information associated with cardiovascular endurance, respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, and/or balance; calories burnt or energy expended; a completion level of a prescribed exercise routine; a quantified improvement in an exercise; and/or other exercise parameters. The personal wellness system may facilitate automated and/or live coaching, exercise regimen design, exercise scheduling, diet program design, rehabilitation, and/or other functions associated with personal wellness management.

Personal wellness management platform

Receipt of user input may be facilitated using a handheld computing platform with an integrated pressure sensor. Exemplary implementations may allow a user to simply squeeze the handheld computing platform in order to control one or more aspects of operation of the handheld computing platform. That is, instead of tapping a touch screen or pressing buttons, a user may merely need to apply compressive pressure to the handheld computing platform by applying opposing forces to opposing surfaces of the handheld computing platform. By way of non-limiting example, the one or more aspects of operation controlled by squeezing the handheld computing platform may include one or more of input of a value, selection from a menu, manipulation of a virtual object, entry of a password or a code, interaction with a fitness program, interaction with a rehabilitation and/or medical treatment program, interaction with a game, and/or other aspects of operation.

Handheld computing platform with integrated pressure sensor and associated methods of use

This disclosure relates to a personal handheld electronic device with a touchscreen on a peripheral surface. In some implementations, the device may comprise one or more of a primary interface, a touchscreen, a processor, one or more information collection systems, electronic storage, a power supply, and/or other components. One or more components of the device may be disposed in or on a first housing body. In some implementations, one or more components of the device may be disposed in or on one or more housing bodies. The device may be configured such that the touchscreen is disposed on a peripheral surface of a housing body. The touchscreen being disposed on a peripheral surface may enable the device to receive information from a user and/or display information to the user when the device is in an open configuration and/or in a closed configuration.

A personal wellness device comprise two housing bodies, a force sensor, a user interface, one or more processors, and/or other components. A first housing body and a second housing body may be movably coupled together by way of a coupling mechanism such that the two housing bodies are reconfigurable between an open configuration and a closed configuration.
