A work positioning device for a computer sewing machine includes an auxiliary table and a positioning arm having one end removably and turnably connected to the auxiliary table. The positioning arm has the opposite end provided with a positioning part and may be turned between an upper position where the positioning part is spaced from the upper surface of the auxiliary table and a lower position where the positioning part is in contact with the upper surface of the table, the positioning part having a reference mark provided for showing an initialized position for starting the pattern stitching operation when the embroidery frame is connected to the carriage.

Work positioning device

Sewing machine provided with an indication device including a display that is so large that the lower leftward portion protrudes into the stitch working area of the machine. The display may be moved up and down by of a switch and may be moved up until the lower end side of the display aligns with the lower end side of the machine arm and may be stopped at an upper optional position. At the lowest position, the upper end side of display has the upper side located in alignment with the top side of machine body and has the front side plane planar with the front side of the arm and has the lateral end side planar with the lateral end side of the machine body. The display has no part protruding from the machine body at the lowest position, and is thus placed compactly in the machine frame of machine body.

Embroidery sewing machine having a Y-direction drive mechanism including an elongated arm which is normally accommodated in a cutout portion formed at a bed of the machine body and forms a part of that body. The upper side of the arm is continuous with the upper side of the bed in a same plane. The arm has a frame support to which an embroidery frame is removably attached, the frame holding a work to be embroidered. The arm is arranged as turnable to extend from the rear side of the bed into the depth direction (Y-direction) of the machine, where the arm is operative for embroidery stitching. The arm is connected to an X-direction drive mechanism arranged in the machine body and may be moved in the width direction (X-direction) of the machine body, by the X-direction drive mechanism while the embroidery frame is moved in the Y-direction along the arm.

A sewing machine has a drive mechanism for driving an embroidering frame B, means for holding the embroidering frame B and operatively connected to the drive mechanism to be driven thereby to move the embroidering frame B in X-Y direction relative to a vertically reciprocating needle on the surface of a machine bed, and means for normally pressing the embroidering frame B against the surface of the machine bed with an optimal force to absorb the vibrations of the embroidering frame B which may be caused during embroidery stitching operation.

A sewing machine having a free arm which is provided with free arm sensors and for detecting a contact between the free arm and a cylindrical work during embroidery stitching operation, the cylindrical work being held by an embroidering frame and placed on the free arm as covering the same so as to be embroidered thereon. The contact as detected is indicated to the machine user or the sewing machine is stopped. Further, the contact detection may be used to seek an area where the work may be allowed to be embroidered. The area as sought is discriminated prior to initiation of stitching operation if the work may be embroidered in the area.

Embroidery stitching device and sewing machine having a free arm

A sewing machine having a threading device is disclosed. The sewing machine comprises a needle bar having a needle attached to a lower end thereof. The needle has a needle eye and a threading shaft has a threading member mounted to the lower end thereof. The threading member has a threading hook, a drive motor for vertically moving the threading shaft along the needle bar, guide means for guiding and rotating the threading shaft at a threading position as the threading shaft is vertically moved, and a regulating member for deciding the threading position of the threading shaft. The threading shaft is moved down and stopped at the threading position and is axially rotated to pass the threading hook through the needle eye. The threading shaft is maintained in this state until a return signal is given such that the drive motor is driven again to pull the threading hook out of the needle eye and move up the threading shaft.

A sewing machine with pattern stitching function is disclosed, wherein pattern data may be optionally selected to control the swinging movement of the vertically reciprocating needle and the work feeding amount of the work feeding mechanism, thereby to form a pattern composed of a plurality of pattern elements, the selected pattern data being modified with respect to each of the pattern elements.
