Systems and methods are provided for simulating a target platform. An incoming radar signal is transmitted from a radar source and is received at a first platform. Time of the received radar signal is modulated to generate first and second range extent signals. The first range extent signal is vector modulated, and the second range extent signal is divided into a plurality of divided second range extent signals. A first of the plurality of divided second range extent signals is phase modulated. A second of the plurality of divided second range extent signals is amplitude modulated. The modulated signals are transmitted from the first platform.

Radio frequency signature augmentation system

The invention is a radar decoy which electronically simulates objects by generating radar detectable signals over the entire microwave frequency range. The simulator includes a series of tuned, spaced diode networks for generating carrier suppressed doppler side bands. Each diode network operates at a single, different frequency. The diode networks are enclosed by a corner reflector which modulates the amplitude and the phase of an impinging radar signal. The diode networks are controlled by a switching network which turns the diodes on and off at a desire frequency to produce a doppler frequency shift and thereby simulate moving objects.

Broadband passive moving target simulator

A bi-static radar system with an autonulling feature. The system may be used to detect clear air turbulence, for example, in the vicinity of the airports, or to provide an electronic fence for moving air-borne targets having low radar cross sections. The receiver comprises signal and nulling antennas, and the signal received by the nulling antenna is electronically adjusted in phase and amplitude to provide autonulling of the background signal received directly from the transmitter.

Air turbulence detection using bi-static CW Doppler radar

Disclosed is an arrangement of two conical radiators that electromagnetically interact with one another to produce circularly polarized radiation in a surface wave transmission system. One of the radiators includes an annular conductive region that coaxially surrounds the surface wave transmission line with a pair of spiral antenna arms extending outwardly along the conical surface of the radiator from oppositely disposed positions on the outer boundary of the annular conductive region. The second radiator, which is spaced apart from the first radiator, includes a circular conductive region to which the end of the surface wave transmission line is joined and further includes a pair of spiral antenna arms that extend outwardly along the surface of the second conical radiator. The annular opening in the first radiator is dimensioned so that one-half of the surface wave energy incident on the first radiator is radiated and the remaining one-half of the electromagnetic energy propagates through the circular opening of the annular conductive region and is radiated by the second radiator. The orientation between the first and second radiators is established both with respect to axial distance between the radiators and the spatial position of the inner ends of the spiral antenna arms to cause the individual signals radiated by the two radiators to combine in a manner that results in far field circular polarization.

Apparatus for circularly polarized radiation from surface wave

Disclosed is a conically shaped reflector for producing dual polarized electromagnetic radiation in a surface wave transmission system. The reflector includes a circular conductive region that covers the apex of the conical reflector with the surface wave transmission line being joined to the center of the circular conductive region. Extending outwardly from equally spaced apart positions along the circumference of the circular conductive region are four conductive log-periodic arms.
