A speaker system includes a first speaker; a second speaker; and a first spacer for separating the first speaker and the second speaker from each other so that the first speaker and the second speaker face each other. The first speaker and the second speaker are located so that opposing faces of the first speaker and the second speaker output sounds of an identical phase. The first speaker, the second speaker and the first spacer form a first sound path through which the sounds output from the opposing faces of the first speaker and the second speaker pass. The speaker system according to the present invention includes n number speakers and (n&minus;1) number of spacers and can be arranged so that the opposing faces of even-numbered speakers and odd-numbered speakers output sounds of an identical phase.

Speaker system

A speaker system has an acoustic diaphragm and an image projection screen provided on a surface of the diaphragm integrally therewith so as to enable the user to enjoy both realistic image on the screen and powerful sound reproduced through the diaphragm. The rear surface of the diaphragm is closed at a peripheral portion thereof while the central portion of the rear surface of the diaphragm is opened to the exterior, so that the speaker system can provide a high level of reproduced sound pressure in low-pitched region, while the thickness of the speaker is reduced remarkably. The diaphgram can be driven by a plurality of driving units so that the speaker system can operate only with an ordinary stereophonic amplifier. The diaphragm can be composed of a pair of diaphragm elements capable of vibrating independently of each other and the screen may be integrally and commonly attached to the surfaces of these diaphragm elements in such a manner as to allow the diaphragm elements to vibrate independently of each other, whereby the speaker system can operate in stereophonic mode. Any variation in the acoustic characteristic attributable to variation in the condition of installation is compensated for by a change in the ratio of the opened area of the rear surface of the diaphragm to the whole effective vibration area or by a selective provision of a sound absorbing member on the rear side of the cabinet.

A diaphragm for acoustic equipment molded from a composition mainly consisting of a polyester-polyether block copolymer prepared by condensing a polytetramethylene-terephthalate with a poly(tetramethyleneoxide)glycol or any other polyester-polyether block copolymer. This diaphragm for acoustic equipment has an excellent low-pitched sound reproducing performance and flat acoustic pressure-frequency characteristics.

A speaker diaphragm molded from a poly-bisphenol phthalate type plastic film having ester linkages prepared from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid such as isophthalic acid or terephthalic acid or a mixture thereof and a bifunctional phenol such as bisphenol A. This speaker diaphragm has an excellent low-pitched sound reproducing performance and is further featured by the flat acoustic pressure-frequency characteristic and improved transduce efficiency.
