The invention relates to specific quaternary amidoamine detergents, the process to make them, and their use. The quaternary amidoamine detergents are obtainable by reacting a multifunctional acid with an amino amine, followed by quaternization, suitably with dimethyl carbonate, and subsequent reaction with a fatty acid. In the process to make the quaternary amidoamine detergents a multifunctional fatty acid is reacted with an amino amine, typically an amino alkylene amine, followed by quaternization with a quaternizing agent and subsequent replacement of the anion of said quaternizing agent with a fatty acid anion. The quaternary fatty amidoamine detergents are particularly useful as a surface-active compound that is soluble in an a-polar medium, for example when used as a stabilizer for solids in an a-polar medium.

The present invention relates in general to the use of amides of the following general formula (I) wherein Ris a linear or branched hydrocarbyl group containing 9 to 14 carbon atoms; Ris selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl and benzyl; and Ris selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl and ethyl, as solvents for organic agriculturally active ingredients, compositions comprising organic agriculturally active ingredients and such amides, methods for treating a plant utilizing such compositions, as well as some of the amides as such and methods for their production.

The present invention relates in general to the use of amides of the following general formula (I) wherein Ris a linear or branched hydrocarbyl group containing 9 to 14 carbon atoms; Ris selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl and benzyl; and Ris selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl and ethyl, as solvents for organic agriculturally active ingredients, compositions comprising organic agriculturally active ingredients and such amides, methods for treating a plant utilizing such compositions, as well as some of the amides as such and methods for their production. 

The present invention relates to nitrogen-containing hydroxyethyl substituted compounds to be used as corrosion inhibitors for metal surfaces, for example in aqueous systems and in particular in oil-field applications, e.g. in oil or gas wells, and which could be used under sweet-well conditions as well as under sour-well conditions. It may also be used in oil-field acidizing and fracture-acidizing well stimulation treatment. The compounds belong to the group of partly ethoxylated fatty alkylamines, partly ethoxylated alkyletheramines and partly or fully hydroxyethyl substituted alkylamidopropylamines. The corrosion inhibitors have the formula (I) where R is a hydrocarbyl or an acyl group having 14-24 carbon atoms, or the group R'OCHCHCHwhere R&#x2032; is a hydrocarbyl group with 14-24 carbon atoms; X is hydrogen, CHOH or the group Y is hydrogen or CHOH and n is 0-3, with the proviso that at least one of the symbols X and Y is CHOH, at most one of the symbols X is n is at least one when R is an acyl group, and when R is a hydrocarbyl group or the group R&#x2032;OCHCHCHat least one of the symbols X and Y is hydrogen. 

Nitrogen containing compounds as corrosion inhibitors

The present invention relates to the use of an alkyl di(lower alkyl)mono(polyoxyethylene) quaternary ammonium compound as a hydrotrope in 5 aqueous solutions for a nonionic surfactant, preferably a C8-C18-alcohol alkoxylate containing 1-20 ethyleneoxy units and 0-5 propyleneoxy units. It also relates to a composition comprising said quaternary ammonium compound and said nonionic surfactant. The cationic surfactant has the formula 10 R2+R(1)N(CH2CH2O)n H X R1 wherein R&#x2550;C6-C22 alkyl; R1 and R2 are independently a C1-C4 alkyl group; n=8-25; and X&#x2212; is an anion. The compositions may be used for the cleaning of hard surfaces, for example for vehicle cleaning or machine dishwashing.

Use of quaternary ammonium compound as a hydrotrope and a composition containing the quaternary ammonium compound

Methods for producing carboxylic amides involves combining near-stoichiometric amounts of carboxylic acid and amine in a reaction vessel and reacting under pressures greater than atmospheric pressure. Alternatively, an excess of amine is reacted with carboxylic acid at atmospheric pressure to produce a carboxylic amide.

Process for making carboxylic amides

A process is disclosed for making a solid composition comprising at least one quaternary ester ammonium compound and at least one substantially saturated fatty acid compound, a solid composition obtainable by that process, and a solid composition containing essentially more than 50 wt % of at least one quaternary ester ammonium compound, at most 50 wt % of at least one substantially saturated fatty acid compound, and less than 5.5 wt % of impurities.

Process for making solid compositions comprising quaternary ester

The invention relates to a solid composition comprising a hygroscopic amphoteric surfactant and a fatty acid which is substantially free from other detergents and/or detergent additives. Preferably, the fatty acid is a linear, saturated C.sub.6 -C.sub.22 acid. The weight ratio of amphoteric surfactant to fatty acid in said composition preferably is from 4:1 to 1:2. Examples of amphoteric surfactants include amine oxides and betaines. The solid composition of the invention may be shaped into a particulate form, such as granules. The invention further pertains to a process for preparing said composition and to the use of same, for example, in soap bars.
