A monitoring system for an environment of a vehicle. The vehicle includes a group of sensors adapted to cover various regions of the environment. The monitoring system includes a receiving module, a classification module, and a processing module. The receiving module is adapted to obtain information about a driving task of the vehicle. The classification module is adapted to classify, based on the obtained information, the group of sensors in at least a first subset and a second subset. The processing module is adapted to process sensor data of the first subset with higher priority than sensor data from sensors from the second subset.

Monitoring system and method for monitoring

An apparatus determines a road friction of a commercial vehicle. The commercial vehicle has a first axle and a second axle, a load distribution mechanism for changing a load on the first axle or on the second axle, and a slip sensor for determining a slip value for at least one wheel on the first axle or on the second axle. The apparatus includes an evaluation unit configured to control the load distribution mechanism to change the load of the first axle or on second axle, determine a change in the slip value in response to the change of the load, and evaluate the road friction based on the change in the slip value.

A system for providing power to an unpowered vehicle by a powered vehicle has a line arrangement with multiple lines representing inputs, each of which includes at least one power line for supplying power. A merging unit combines the power lines of the line arrangement to a total voltage on a common voltage line. A steering system for a vehicle includes a steering gear, two knuckles of two steerable wheels, a steering actuator, a plurality of sensors, and a processing unit. The steering gear is connected to a first knuckle of the two knuckles and the steering gear is connected to a second knuckle of the two knuckles. The steering gear is connected to the steering actuator. The sensors are mounted at locations associated with the steering gear. Each of the plurality of sensors is configured to acquire steering system position information. Each of the plurality of sensors are configured to provide acquired steering system information to the processing unit.

A brake system for a vehicle includes a first axle pressure modulator (APM) for service-brake-chambers for a first vehicle-axle, a second axle pressure modulator for spring-brake-cylinders for a second vehicle-axle, the second APM being connected to an electronic-brake-control-unit, which is configured to issue a first electric-control-signal for controlling the first APM and a second electric-control-signal for controlling the second APM, an intelligent foot brake module, which is configured to issue a first pneumatic-control-signal for controlling the first APM and a second pneumatic-control-signal for controlling the second APM, an electronic parking brake controller, which is configured to issue a second pneumatic parking brake signal for controlling the spring-brake-cylinders, and a pressure control valve, which is configured to convert the second pneumatic parking brake signal into a first pneumatic parking brake signal for controlling the first APM.

A brake system (BS) includes first/second electric-power-supply-units (EPSU), and an electronic-brake-control-unit (EBCU) connected to the first EPSU. The BS includes a first axle-pressure-modulator (APM) for service-brake-chambers for a first vehicle-axle (VA). The first APM is connected to the EBCU. The BS includes a second APM for spring-brake-cylinders for a second VA. The second APM is connected to the EBCU. The BS includes a redundant-brake-pedal-sensor (BPS) connected to the EBCU. The second PM commands pneumatic-control-pressure for the second APM depending on the second CS from the redundant-BPS.

A brake system, for a vehicle, includes a first electric-power-supply-unit (EPSU), and an electronic-brake-control-unit (EBCU) connected to the first EPSU. Furthermore, the brake system includes a first axle-pressure-modulator (APM) for service-brake-chambers associated with a first vehicle-axle. The first APM is connected to the EBCU. The brake system includes a second APM for spring-brake-cylinders associated with a second vehicle-axle. The second APM is connected to the EBCU. The brake system further includes a second EPSU, and an electronic-parking-brake-controller (EPBC). The EPBC is connected to the second EPSU. The PMU is connected to the EPBC, which issues a control-signal for controlling the PMU. The PMU commands pneumatic-control-pressure for the first APM depending on the control-signal from the EPBC.

An apparatus for determining a speed of a vehicle, in which the vehicle includes one or more sensors to determine a distance to or a relative speed of an object in an environment of the vehicle, and in which the apparatus includes a data interface and a processing module. The data interface is configured to receive sensor data from the one or more sensors, where the sensor data indicates the distance to and/or the relative speed of the object. The processing module is configured to determine (i) a motion state of the object based on the received sensor data, and (ii) the speed of the vehicle based on the determined motion state and the received sensor data.

Apparatus and method for determining a speed of a vehicle

A steering control system for a commercial vehicle having braking and steering systems. The braking system brakes dissymetrically side wheels of the vehicle. The steering system steers the vehicle based on a steering signal. The steering control system includes selection and control modules. The selection module switches between first and second steering modes. The first mode indicates steering of the vehicle by turning vehicle wheels. The second mode indicates steering of the vehicle by generating a braking signal for at least one wheel providing a yaw moment applied to the vehicle. The control module generates the first signal indicating a steering demand in the first mode and a second signal indicating a steering demand in the second mode. The control module provides the first signal to the steering system and the second signal to the braking system to brake the vehicle dissymetrically to steer the vehicle with the yaw moment.

Steering control system and a method for controlling steering

A trailer electronic braking system is provided for a road train having a tractor and a plurality of trailers. The braking system includes a braking ECU on each trailer and a communication interface being provided so that the braking ECU on a first trailer and the braking ECU on a second trailer are able to communicate with one another. In use, the respective braking ECU on the first and second trailer receive an input from a respective sensor on the first and second trailer adapted to detect lateral acceleration and/or wheel speed. In the event that one of the sensors detects lateral acceleration and/or a wheel speed indicative of a loss of stability, the sensor generates a signal for actuating stability control, which signal is passed via the communication interface to the braking ECU on the other trailer, so that the other trailer can actuate stability control.
