This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for adjacent channel interference (ACI) mitigation techniques for ultra-wideband (UWB) systems. Some aspects more specifically relate to ACI mitigation for UWB systems. In some implementations, a wireless communication device may receive control information that identifies a preamble for communications to the wireless communication device in a UWB system. The wireless communication device may receive, via a signal in the UWB system, a data packet that includes the preamble. The wireless communication device may estimate a channel impulse response (CIR) of the signal and determine an interference metric that is based on the estimated CIR. The wireless communication device may process the data packet based on the interference metric.

Adjacent channel interference mitigation for ultra-wideband systems

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a responding device may receive a signal from an initiating device. The responding device may estimate, from the signal, a channel impulse response (CIR) that represents signal reflections from one or more objects as multiple taps. The responding device may select one or more taps, from the multiple taps, that are within a first time window that starts at a first offset from a reference point and that has a first specified time duration. The responding device may transmit, to the initiating device, a CIR report that indicates the one or more taps. Numerous other aspects are described.

Radio frequency sensing with channel impulse response

Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first wireless communication device (WCD) may transmit, to a second wireless communication device, a first synchronization message using a first radio frequency (RF) technology and a first frequency resource, the first synchronization message associated with synchronization for a second RF technology. The first WCD may transmit, to the second WCD and after switching to a second frequency resource, a second synchronization message using the first RF technology, the second synchronization message associated with synchronization for the second RF technology, and the switching to the second frequency resource based at least in part on one or more of: transmission of the second synchronization message being associated with ranging or sensing, or failure of the first synchronization message or failure of a reply, from the second WCD, to the first synchronization message. Narrowband assisted ultrawideband frequency hopping

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless device may perform a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure for a narrowband communication that provides time and frequency synchronization and/or scheduling information for an ultra-wideband (UWB) communication. The wireless device may transmit the narrowband communication in response to the LBT procedure being successful. The wireless device may transmit the UWB communication based at least in part on the time and frequency synchronization and/or scheduling information. Numerous other aspects are described.

Narrowband communication for ultra-wideband communication

An example method of ultra-wideband (UWB) sensing performed by a wireless communication device, the method comprising determining a first channel impulse response (CIR) estimation of a first frequency channel based on a radio access technology (RAT) session, wherein the RAT is different from UWB. The method also comprises determining a second CIR estimation of a second frequency channel based on a UWB session and determining a third CIR estimation of the first frequency channel based on determining a phase difference between the third CIR estimation and the first CIR estimation. The method further comprises determining a total CIR estimation for a combined frequency channel comprising the first frequency channel and the second frequency channel based on stitching the first CIR estimation, the second CIR estimation, and the third CIR estimation.

Wideband-assisted ultra-wideband (UWB) sensing

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first wireless communication device may transmit, to a second wireless communication device, a time and/or frequency synchronization message using a first radio frequency (RF) technology, wherein the time and/or frequency synchronization message is used to obtain synchronization information for a second RF technology. The first wireless communication device may transmit, to the second wireless communication device, a first set of ranging measurement signals associated with the second RF technology. The first wireless communication device may receive, from the second wireless communication device, a second set of ranging measurement signals associated with the second RF technology. Narrowband assisted ultrawideband message sequences

Aspects described herein include devices and methods for smart ultra wideband transmissions. In one aspect, an apparatus includes pulse generation circuitry configured to output a plurality of transmission (TX) pulse samples at a selected signal sample rate, where each pulse sample of the plurality of TX pulse samples comprises a value associated with a pulse amplitude at a corresponding sample time The apparatus includes a plurality of power amplifier (PA) cells, with each PA cell of the plurality of PA cells comprising a corresponding current source and associated gates, and where the associated gates of a PA cell are selectable to configure an on state and an off state. Logic circuitry of the apparatus is configured to set the on state or the off state for each PA cell.

Ultra wideband transmitter

In some implementations, an ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitter may generate a data packet for performing the UWB ranging, wherein: the data packet comprises a plurality of symbols, and the data packet further includes one or more zero-power symbols at one or more respective pseudo-random locations in the plurality of symbols. The UWB transmitter may transmit the data packet via UWB radio frequency (RF) signals during a UWB ranging session between the UWB transmitter and a UWB receiver.

Secure ranging and interference mitigation for UWB

Systems and methods are directed to phase modulation of polar coordinates in a transmitter of wireless signals, to achieve high transmit power levels while meeting spectral mask and EVM requirements. An input signal is mapped to a sequence of modulation frequency (e.g., O-QPSK to MSK) to generate a mapped signal. A digital frequency shaping filter is applied to the mapped signal to generate a shaped signal. An adaptive rounding algorithm is applied to the shaped signal to generate a reduced bit-width signal. A digital frequency synthesizer is applied to the reduced bit-width signal to generate an analog waveform for transmission.

Frequency shaping and adaptive rounding for O-QPSK and MSK transmission in polar coordinates

A method for setting an initial gain and an initial offset for an automatic gain and offset controller (AGOC) is described. The method includes determining a gain level at which a signal does not under-saturate or over-saturate an input to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) by performing a binary search over a fixed set of gain levels while an offset is fixed. The method also includes determining an offset correction to bring an unmodulated carrier level at an output of the ADC to a target level. The method may also include updating the gain and the offset in response to changes in a signal level.

A method for inductively-coupled communications is described. The method includes receiving a signal. The method also includes analyzing the signal to estimate a symbol timing error. Estimating the symbol timing error may include comparing a location of a pause, a low-to-high or a high-to-low transition in the received signal with an ideal location of a pause or a transition. Methods and apparatus for improving acquisition for NFC load modulation

In a wireless near field communication (NFC) system, a target, such as a smart card, can communicate with an initiator, such as a card reader, by load modulating a radio frequency (RF) signal generated by the initiator. When two or more targets load modulate the RF signal generated, 'collisions' can occur with the load modulation. Apparatus and methods detect the presence or absence of collisions in a lower layer or physical layer and report the presence of detected collisions to an upper layer for further handling.

Systems and methods for detecting data collisions for a near field communication system

The present systems and methods may shape signals to meet emission mask requirements, current consumption requirements, and overshoot/undershoot requirements relating to the interaction that, for example, occurs when a near field communications (NFC) target comes within range of an NFC initiator, and the initiator generates and transmits an NFC waveform. In some implementations, a pair of bit patterns are defined whose differential output from an amplifier is a shaped pulse width modulated waveform. Varying individual bits of the bit patterns can vary the shaped pulse waveform with predictability. The pulse width modulated waveform may be filtered using a matching network that reduces higher order harmonics, thereby reducing out-of-band emissions.
