A method of forming a power electronics assembly includes forming a plurality of pathway openings in a heat exchanger body and inserting a tubular member in each pathway opening of the plurality of pathway openings. The tubular member includes a plurality of internal surface enhancements. An interference fit is defined between the tubular members and the heat exchanger body via one or more of mechanical or thermal expansion to define a plurality of fluid pathways in the heat exchanger. One or more power electronics devices are installed to the heat exchanger body.

A power electronics assembly includes one or more power electronics devices, and a heat exchanger to which the one or more power electronics devices are mounted. The heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger body, and one or more fluid pathways extending through the heat exchanger body, the heat exchanger configured to transfer thermal energy from the one or more power electronics devices into a flow of fluid passing through the one or more fluid pathways. A plurality of fins extend from an outer surface of the heat exchanger body. The flow of fluid is a flow of liquid refrigerant diverted from a condenser of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system.

A converter includes an input section including an inductive element, the input section configured to receive a multiphase, AC input voltage; a rectifier section coupled to the input section; a voltage regulator section coupled to the rectifier section, the voltage regulator section configured to control a DC output voltage across a positive DC bus and a negative DC bus; and a controller in communication with the voltage regulator section, the controller configured to command the voltage regulator section to operate in one of a first mode and a second mode.
