A process for hydrogenating aromatic polymers is disclosed. The process entails using a supported catalyst wherein support contains alumina and where the catalyst comprise at least one metal of subgroup VIII of the Periodic Table. The catalyst is characterized in that the pore volume of the pores having diameters of 1000 to 10,000 Angstrom is 15 to 100% relative to the total pore volume, as determined by mercury porosimetry.

Method for hydrogenating aromatic polymers in the presence of special catalysts

A thermoplastic molding composition containing a (co)polymer of vinylcyclohexane and a stabilizer system is disclosed. The stabilizer system contains lactone, sterically hindered phenol and a phosphite compound. The composition that is characterized by its improved thermal stability is suitable for the preparation of molded articles, including optical data carriers.

Vinylcyclohexane&mdash;based polymer/copolymer mixture and stabilizer system

A molding composition comprising a (co)polymer of vinylcyclohexane is disclosed. The copolymer is characterized in having an absolute molecular weight M of 100,000 to 450,000 g/mol, polydispersity index of 1 to 3 and maximum melt viscosity of 1000 Pa&middot;s, as measured at 300&deg; C. and at a shear rate of 1000 sec . The composition is suitable for producing a variety of molded article most notably optical data storage media.

Vinylcyclohexane-based polymers

A branched polyamide and a process for its preparation are disclosed. Aliphatic or aromatic esters of carbonic acid are used as branching agents in an optionally catalyzed reaction with crystalline polyamide to produce resins having good flow properties, high degree of crystallinity and excellent mechanical properties. Amorphous polyamides that are branched in accordance with the inventive process have improved flow properties.

The present invention relates to block copolymers which are predominantly based on vinylcyclohexane and to a process for producing them. The block copolymers can be processed to form mouldings by extrusion or injection moulding. The mouldings which result therefrom are distinguished by their high resistance to thermal deformation, good mechanical properties, high transparency in the visible and near UV range, and by their particularly low birefringence and water absorption.
