A composition may be suitable for flowable refractory materials and include calcium aluminate cement, a filler, a plasticizer in the form of a copolymer comprising polyether side chains, and a retarder having at least one acid. An article may include such a composition.

Composition for flowable fire-resistant materials

An admixture comprises an aqueous composition of a) a copolymeric dispersing component, b) an antifoaming agent component, c) a surfactant component, and d) water. The components may be a blend or physically or chemically attached and result in a stable liquid system that can be used as a dispersing agent for a calcium sulfate compound containing construction chemicals composition.

Copolymers include two monomer components, a) an olefinic unsaturated monocarboxylic acid comonomer or an ester or a salt thereof of an olefinic unsaturated sulfuric acid comonomer or a salt thereof, and b) an ether comonomer of the general formula (I) Components a) and b) are present in amounts of from 30 to 90 mol-% and from 70 to 10 mol-%, respectively, and comonomer component a) is selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, crotonic acid, isocrotonic acid, allylsulfonic acid, vinylsulfonic acid and a salt thereof or an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl ester. Compositions including a hydraulic binder such as cement, gypsum, lime and anhydrite and the copolymer are also disclosed. The copolymer can be used as superplasticizer or dispersant for non-hardened (wet) and a hydraulic binder containing compositions.

Polyether-containing copolymer

The invention relates to the use of water-soluble polymers, consisting of a) monoethylenically unsaturated monomers consisting of acidic groups in an acidic, partially or fully neutralized form and b) other monomers which can be copolymerized with monomers a) as a drying agent for the production of redispersion power and/or powdery polymer dispersing agents. The water-soluble polymers contain at least 20 wt. % monomers (a) and a maximum of 8O wt. % monomers (b) and are supplied to the production process in the form of aqueous solutions in amounts of up to 50 wt. % maximum, enabling powder, polymer products with a residual moisture of &#x3c;2 wt. % to be obtained, particularly in spray drying processes, and which are added to mineral systems as dispersing agents in amounts of 0.05-5 wt. % or are used as building materials for the mineral binding of redispersion powder in adhesives or as a binders in their own right.

Use of water-soluble polymers as auxiliary drying agents for the production of polymer dispersing agents

The use of a three-component water-soluble polymer comprising 5&#x2013;90% by weight of a component a), preferably of the maleic acid, fumaric acid or itaconic acid type, 5&#x2013;90% by weight of a component b) essentially from the group consisting of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, vinylsulfonic acid and vinylphosphonic acid, and 5&#x2013;90% by weight of a component c) comprising acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylamide or methacrylamide, as fluidizer for refractory compositions comprising alumina cement is described. The copolymer, which has a preferred molecular weight Mof &#x3c;50,000, can also be combined with further quality-improving additives such as silica, lime or soda and further customary additives for refractory compositions.

Use of water-soluble mixed polymers as a flowing medium and/or as a hardening retarder for refractory materials which contain aluminate cement

Stabilized, water-soluble polymer powders based on polyoxyalkylene glycol carboxylates are described, wherein the powders comprise from 0.01 to 10% by weight of a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of phenols, amines, phosphites, thioethers, and also thioacids, and where the stabilizer was added in liquid or dissolved form to the aqueous polymer solution prior to its conversion into the powder form. The polymer powders thus protected against autoignition and oxidative degradation have unexpectedly high thermooxidative stability, even on exposure to high temperatures and oxidizing action (air, oxygen).
