A conductor arrangement for an inductive power transfer, the conductor arrangement comprising at least three coils arranged along a longitudinal axis and formed of at least one conductor; and at least two winding heads arranged opposite one another and in which conductor sections of each coil extend along one another and along the longitudinal axis; wherein, within at least one of the winding heads, the conductor sections of the first and second coils that extend along the longitudinal axis are arranged at a first distance to one another, the first distance &#x2265;zero, and the conductor section of the third coil that extends along the longitudinal axis is arranged at second distances to said conductor sections of the first and second coils, the second distances being larger than the first distance. Also disclosed are an inductive power transfer arrangement and methods for providing conductor arrangements for an inductive power transfer.

Inductive power transfer with reduced electromagnetic interactions within a conductor arrangement

A linear induction motor (LIM) including a primary core extending longitudinally and having a front portion and a rear portion. Coils are mounted on the primary core. The coils include a first set of coils mounted on the front portion and spaced apart from each other by a first pitch. The coils further having a second set of coils, between the first set of coils and the rear portion, which are spaced apart from each other by an industry-standard distance. Each one of the first pitch is greater than the industry-standard distance for reducing an end effect onto the LIM when the LIM travels forward. The first set of coils may have different spaces between its coils and may also include equally spaced coils.

The invention relates to a method of operating a three phase primary winding structure of a system for inductive power transfer, wherein the primary winding structure includes a first phase line, a second phase line and a third phase line, wherein in a standard operational mode a first phase input voltage, a second phase input voltage and a third phase input voltage are controlled such that a predetermined phase shift between all three phase input voltages is provided, wherein in a modified operational mode the first phase input voltage, the second phase input voltage and the third phase input voltage are controlled such that the set of phase shift values includes at most two non-zero values and all non-zero phase shift values are equal. Furthermore, the invention relates to a primary unit of a system for inductive power transfer.

An arrangement for providing a land vehicle, with electric energy includes producing an electromagnetic field on a primary side located on the track of the vehicle and/or located at a stop of the vehicle, by receiving the magnetic component of the electromagnetic field on a secondary side on board the vehicle above the source of the electromagnetic field and by magnetic induction on the secondary side. In a method of operating a dual mode DC-DC converter having first and second bridge converters connected via a transformer, a capacitor in series with each winding of the transformer, and an inductance, wherein each bridge converter includes a number of switches operating under the control of a controller, in a first mode of operation, the switching of the number of switches is controlled in a manner to transfer DC electrical power from the first bridge converter to the second bridge converter, or vice versa. In a second mode of operation, one switch of each bridge converter is maintained in a closed state and one switch of each bridge converter is maintained in an open state while the switching of the other of the number of switches of the first and second bridge converters is controlled in a manner to transfer DC electrical power from the first bridge converter to the second bridge converter, or vice versa.

An arrangement for providing a vehicle with electric energy, including a receiving device adapted to receive an alternating electromagnetic field and to produce an alternating electric current by magnetic induction, a plurality of phase lines adapted to carry a different phase current of the alternating electric current. Each phase line forms at least two coils. Each coil includes at least one turn of the phase line. The turn of any one of the coils including only one turn is turned around a central axis of the coil. The turns of any one of the coils including more than one turn are consecutive sections of the phase line turned around a central axis of the coil. The at least two coils of each phase line are located next to each other so as to form a sequence of coils.

The system includes an electric conductor arrangement which produces an alternating electromagnetic field, transfers electromagnetic energy to the vehicle and includes a plurality of segments. Each segment extends along the vehicle path of travel and includes one line for each phase of alternating current carried by the segment. The system includes a current supply for conducting electric energy to the segments which are electrically connected in parallel. At least one segment is coupled to the current supply via a constant current source. Each constant current source includes one or more inductances and one or more capacitances, the inductances and capacitances being adapted to each other and the input side of the constant current source so that a constant current is output to the output side.

System and method for transferring electric energy to a vehicle using constant current operation of segments of a conductor arrangement

A system for transferring electric energy to a vehicle, including an electric conductor arrangement for producing an alternating electromagnetic field and for thereby transferring electric energy to a vehicle. The conductor arrangement includes a plurality of consecutive segments. Each segment is combined with an assigned controller adapted to control the operation of the segment independently of the other segments. The controllers of at least two consecutive segments are connected to each other and/or to a central controlling device so that the at least two consecutive segments can operate at the same time. Each segment includes at least three alternating current lines for carrying phases of a multi-phase alternating current. The consecutive segments are electrically connected in parallel to each other to a current supply. The alternating current lines of each segment include a plurality of sections which extend transversely to the direction of travel of the vehicle.

A system and method for transferring electric energy to a vehicle includes at least one electric conductor arrangement for producing an alternating electromagnetic field and for transferring electromagnetic energy to the vehicle. The conductor arrangement includes a plurality of segments, each extending along a section of the path of travel of the vehicle and including one line for each phase of alternating current carried by the segment to produce the electromagnetic field. A plurality of source units connected in parallel provide the alternating current to the segment and a current supply conducts electrical energy to the plurality of source units. At least a first source unit is connectable to each segment of a first set of at least two segments of the at least one conductor arrangement. Each neighboring segment of the first set of segments is exclusively connectable to another source unit.

System and method for transferring electric energy to a vehicle using segments of a conductor arrangement which can be operated independently

A shaped block for positioning and/or holding a plurality of line sections of one or more electric lines along the track of a vehicle includes a plurality of recesses and/or projections. Edges of the recesses and/or the projections each delimit a space for the line sections into which one of the line sections can be introduced, so that said line section extends through the space in a longitudinal direction of the space. The longitudinal directions of the spaces delimited by the edges of the recesses and/or by the projections extend essentially mutually parallel in a common plane.
