A method for producing a bundle composed of book blocks includes gathering a plurality of printed sheets to form respective book blocks. The plurality of the book blocks are positioned with the same orientation and respectively positioned on lower edges of the printed sheets. Respectively two adjacent book blocks are offset from one another parallel to the lower edges of the printed sheets and transverse to a height of the bundle to be formed, such that a side edge of one of the two book block projects relative to a side edge of the adjacent book block. Thereafter the offset book blocks are combined to form the bundle and the bundle is compressed to fix the offset position of the book blocks.

Bundle of printed products and method for producing same

A bundle of identical book blocks composed of a plurality of folded print sheets or signatures standing upright on lower edges of the printed sheets or book blocks. The book blocks are formed with first and last book block sections having different dimensions. A quadrangular bundle is formed from the book blocks by aligning first limit surfaces of the book block sections flush with each other along one of the two side surfaces or along the upper or lower surfaces of the bundle so that a second limit surface of the first book block section opposite the first limit surface of the first book block section projects with an offset with respect to a limit surface of the last book block section opposite the first limit surface of the last book block section. The bundle is compressed and then secured.

Bundle composed of printed products and method for producing the bundle

A method and device to produce printed items having at least one printed product and a supplement. The device includes a gathering device with a gathering section such that the gathering section includes a continuously circulating conveyor. A printer is also provided to produce the printed products wherein the printed products include a single page or partial block stacks. The device further includes feeders to supply the printed products to the conveyor and at least one supplement feeder arranged between two of the feeders to feed at least one supplement to the circulating conveyor.

A method for inserting a supplement into a multipage printed product having a back and composed of signatures and/or individual sheets, and being transported with the back oriented parallel to a conveying direction. The multipage printed product is supplied with a signature or an individual sheet projecting from the multipage printed product to define a predetermined separating location between the projecting signature or individual sheet and an adjacent signature or sheet. The multipage printed product is opened at the predetermined separating location and then the opening is expanded. The supplement is thereafter inserted into the expanded separating location.

An apparatus is provided for pressing a casing or a slip-fold against an adhesive-covered back and adjacent side flanks of a book block, which is conveyed while clamped into a circulating clamp of a perfect binder with the book back projecting downward. The apparatus includes a back pressing device for pressing the casing against the adhesive-covered back and a flank pressing device for pressing the casing against the side flanks. These devices are driven synchronized with the timing of the book binder clamps for conveying the book blocks. At least the flank pressing device is assigned an individual drive unit which is connected to a control device of the perfect binder.

A method for producing perfect-bound book blocks for books or similar printed products, including driving successively arranged clamps to circulate along an endless path of a perfect binding apparatus, positioning loose book blocks composed of gathered printed sheets inside conveying units of a conveying device, supplying the book blocks upon or prior to reaching the transfer region below the endless path to the clamps of the perfect binding apparatus, the supplying including inserting the book blocks into the clamps pivoted by approximately 90&#xb0; around a perpendicular axis from a processing position for the book blocks and clamping the book blocks in the clamps with spines facing downwards, and transporting the clamped book blocks in an upright position for further processing in the perfect binding apparatus. An arrangement for producing perfect-bound book blocks is also provided.

Method and arrangement for producing perfect bound book blocks

A method of producing perfect-bound printed products formed from several printed products, includes feeding printed products, which are gathered to form loose book blocks, are fed by feeders, which are arranged along a conveying line and are driven at least approximately with synchronous timing, to a conveyance device that has receiving devices that follow one another at regular intervals, and are transferred by this conveyance device into a gluing machine. The gluing machine, which is arranged downstream of the conveyance device and also has a conveying function, is run until it is empty in the event of an interruption of a processing operation by discontinuing further feeding of printed products to the receiving devices of the conveyance device and further feeding of loose book blocks to the gluing machine while the gluing machine is emptying.
