A spinning reel having a reverse rotation preventing mechanism for selectively preventing the reverse rotation of the rotor of the reel in which the amount of protrusion of an operating lever for setting the rotation preventing state is reduced. A rocker lever pivotably mounted to the reel body has only one actuating portion extending beyond the surface of the reel body when in either operative position, namely, the rotation locked or unlocked position. A forward arm of the rocker lever is pivotably joined to a locking lever, the forward end of which is engageable with a locking gear fixed to the shaft of the rotor. If desired, a locking pawl can be interposed between the forward end of the locking lever and the locking gear.

Spinning reel having reverse rotation preventing mechanism

A fishing spinning reel in which a bail arm has opposite ends secured to a bail arm lever and a bail arm cam, the bail arm lever and the bail arm cam being rotatably shouldered on a pair of opposing arms of a rotor. The bail arm is rotatable from a line-casting position to a line-rewinding position. A first kick lever is provided for rotating the bail arm from its line-casting position to an intermediate position upon the rotation of a handle of the fishing spinning reel. A second kick lever is provided for rotating the bail arm from its intermediate position to its line-rewinding position upon successive rotation of the handle of the fishing spinning reel.

In a fishing spinning reel of the type wherein a rotor is rotated by a handle through a main drag mechanism and a drag shaft, a boss of the handle is connected through screw threads to a sleeve which supports the main drag mechanism, the drag shaft extends through the sleeve, and a drag knob is connected to one end of the drag shaft, there is provided an auxiliary drag mechanism interposed between the handle bars and the drag knob. The auxiliary drag mechanism comprises an annular ring interposed between the drag knob and the handle boss and a torque spring interposed between the annular ring and the handle boss so that when the handle is rotated in one direction the torque spring is compressed against the drag knob. The sleeve is provided with multiple threads and a polygonal portion adjacent the multiple threads, and the annular ring is provided with a polygonal opening to receive the polygonal portion.
