A method and system for performing at least one transaction on at least one column of a table in a database system is disclosed. The method includes determining whether a first transaction of the at least one transaction fulfills all of at least one criteria. The method further includes ensuring that the at least one column is in a shared numeric lock if the first transaction fulfills all of the at least one criteria, wherein the shared numeric lock is a lock that allows at least a second transaction fulfilling all of the at least one criteria to access the same column concurrently with the first transaction without releasing the shared numeric lock between transactions, and wherein the shared numeric lock is released only after all of the transactions fulfilling all of the criteria have completed processing. The method further includes processing the first transaction.

Utilizing shared numeric locks

Techniques are provided for resynchronizing instances of a replicated table. In one embodiment, a database server is provided as a member of a plurality of communicatively coupled database servers. Each database server is configured to support a replicating mode of operation and a non-replicating mode of operation. The instances of the replicated table are resynchronized responsive to a user request, without stopping any of the plurality of database servers and without requiring any of the plurality of database servers to operate in the non-replicating mode of operation.

Online repair of a replicated table

A method repairs a table. A replication environment has a first replicate comprising a source table on a source server and a target table on a target server. The source server transmits replication data from the source server with repair data from the source server to the target table in accordance with a commit order of the replication data and the repair data. The target server applies the repair data and the replication data to the target table based on the commit order.

A method and system for performing at least one transaction on at least one column of a table in a database system is disclosed. The method and system include determining whether a first transaction of the at least one transaction fulfills all of the criteria and ensuring that the at least one column is in a shared numeric lock if the first transaction fulfills the at least one criteria. The shared numeric lock allows at least a second transaction fulfilling the at least one criteria to be processed concurrently with the first transaction without releasing the shared numeric lock. The method and system also include processing the first transaction. Thus, the method and system allow multiple transactions to be processed concurrently.
