A communication apparatus includes an antenna, a driving unit, a reading control unit, an acquisition unit, and a setting unit. The driving unit is configured to move a relative position of the antenna relative to one or more wireless tags. The measurement control unit is configured to control measurement of tag data of the one or more wireless tags based on reception of radio waves from the one or more wireless tags by the antenna. The acquisition unit is configured to acquire the number of the one or more wireless tags based on the measurement of the tag data of the one or more wireless tags that is accompanied by the movement of the relative position at a first moving speed. The setting unit is configured to set a second moving speed of the relative position based on the acquired number of the one or more wireless tags. The measurement control unit controls measurement of the tag data of the one or more wireless tags that is accompanied by movement of the relative position at the set second moving speed.

Communication apparatus and method

A communication apparatus includes an antenna, an actuator assembly, a transducer, and a controller. The actuator assembly is configured to move the antenna in two dimensions relative to a space configured to contain a wireless tag. The transducer is configured to provide phase data indicating a phase of a signal transmitted from the wireless tag in at least (a) a first detection condition in which the antenna has a first position relative to the space and (b) a second detection condition in which the antenna has a second position relative to the space. The controller is configured to determine whether the wireless tag is located inside of the space based on the phase data.

Communication apparatus

A sheet conveyance device includes a roller by which a sheet having a wireless tag is conveyed along a path, a communication device configured to transmit a radio signal to the wireless tag and receive a response signal therefrom, and a processor configured to repeatedly perform a process of controlling the roller to convey a sheet along the path while controlling the communication device to transmit the radio signal to a wireless tag of the sheet using a transmission power that is different in each repeat, and acquire a strength of the response signal from the wireless tag, and specify a minimum strength of the response signal that has been acquired in the repeated process, the minimum strength being equal to or greater than a threshold, and set a transmission power that has been used when the minimum strength has been acquired as a reference strength of the radio signal.

Sheet conveyance device and method

A wireless tag communication device includes a communication interface device configured to communicate with a wireless tag attached to or included in a sheet conveyed along a conveyance direction in a printer, and a controller configured to acquire light reception information indicating a time period in which light emitted towards the sheet has been blocked by the wireless tag during conveyance of the sheet, compare the acquired light reception information to reference information and determine a direction of the wireless tag with respect to the conveyance direction, determine a polarization direction of a radio wave to be transmitted to the wireless tag based on the determined orientation direction of the wireless tag, and control the communication interface device to transmit to the wireless tag the radio wave having the determined polarization direction.
