A light source device includes a first light source, a second light source, and a processor. The processor controls, based on spectrum setting information, an emitted light amount of the first light source and an emitted light amount of the second light source so that the emitted light amount of the first light source becomes larger than the emitted light amount of the second light source. The observation object includes a region of interest, a merkmal, and a peripheral portion. The spectrum setting information is set based on a merkmal observed ratio that is a ratio between a spectral reflectance in the merkmal and a spectral reflectance in the peripheral portion. A degree of disassociation of the merkmal observed ratio in the first wavelength region from 1 is greater than a degree of disassociation of the merkmal observed ratio in the second wavelength region from 1.

Light source device, endoscope system, and control method

Provided is a biological observation apparatus including irradiating portions that radiate illumination light onto biological tissue, an imaging portion that, of reflected light reflected at the biological tissue due to the illumination light radiated by the irradiating portions, captures reflected light in a wavelength band in which an absorption characteristic of &#x3b2;-carotene is greater than an absorption characteristic of hemoglobin, thus acquiring a reflected-light image, and a display portion that displays the reflected-light image acquired by the imaging portion.

An endoscope system includes an spouting portion spouting a fluorescent agent and a cleaning liquid, a light source portion emitting excitation light and irradiation light having different spectral characteristics, an optical system transmitting the excitation light or the irradiation light to the object, an image capture portion disposed in a section inserted into the coelom and picking up fluorescence and light having a different spectrum band that are emitted from the object, a spectroscopic portion disposed in an optical pass between the image capture portion and an end of the inserted section and restraining light having the same spectrum band as the excitation light from entering the image capture portion, and a control portion allowing the light source portion to emit excitation light at least once after the spouting portion spouts the fluorescent agent onto the object and before the spouting portion spouts the cleaning liquid.

The number of aberrant crypt foci (ACF) can be readily counted without overlooking the existence of ACF to achieve reduced observation time. A fluorescence observation apparatus includes a light source unit inserted into a body cavity of a biological organism and emitting excitation light onto an inner wall of the body cavity; an image acquisition unit that acquires image information by acquiring an image of fluorescence generated when a fluorescent probe whose fluorescence characteristic changes by reacting with a molecule existing in an ACF formed in the inner wall of the body cavity is excited by the excitation light; a position control unit that moves the light source unit and the image acquisition unit relative to the inner wall of the body cavity; and a counting section that counts the number of fluorescence generation sites included in the image acquired by the image acquisition unit.

Fluorescence observation apparatus

A spectral imaging apparatus includes: a spectral transmittance variable element having a spectral transmittance characteristics such that a transmittance periodically varies with wavelength and being capable of changing the variation period, for converting light from an object under observation into light having a plurality of peak wavelengths; a light extracting device for extracting, from the light having a plurality of peak wavelengths, light for imaging that contains a peak wavelength proximate to a predetermined command wavelength designated by a user and light for calibration that contains a peak wavelength other than the peak wavelength proximate to the command wavelength; an image sensor for capturing an image of the object under observation formed of the light for imaging; a detector for detecting, from the light for calibration, the peak wavelength other than the peak wavelength proximate to the command wavelength; and a control unit including, an operation processing section that calculates the peak wavelength that is proximate to the command wavelength and is contained in the light for imaging, from the peak wavelength that is other than the peak wavelength proximate to the command wavelength, is contained in the light for calibration and is detected by the detector, calculates an amount of shift between the peak wavelength proximate to the command wavelength as calculated and the command wavelength, and determines an amount of adjustment of the variation period on a basis of the amount of shift, and a drive processing section that drives the spectral transmittance variable element for changing the variation period.

A fluorescence distribution image of each fluorescent agent can be acquired from a fluorescence image that has been captured in a mixed state so as to improve the diagnosability of cancer cells. An endoscope system comprises: a light source section for selectively irradiating two or more types of excitation lights having different spectral characteristics so as to excite two or more types of fluorescent agents having different optical characteristics; an imaging section provided on a part to be inserted into a body cavity, and having a light-receiving sensitivity in the wavelength bands of the two or more types of fluorescence radiated from the observation target by respective types of excitation lights; a storage section for storing relation information between the fluorescence intensity and the concentration of each of the fluorescent agents; a concentration information computing section for computing concentration information of each of the fluorescent agents on the basis of the fluorescence intensities of two or more images captured by the imaging section and the relation information stored in the storage section, and outputting the concentration information; and a mode switching section capable of switching between a first fluorescence observation mode in which at least one of the fluorescence intensity images acquired by the imaging section is presented, and a second fluorescence observation mode in which the concentration information of each of the florescent agents computed by the concentration information computing section is presented.

Provided is a fluorescence endoscope system for observing fluorescence from a fluorochrome attached to or absorbed in biological tissue, including an excitation light source that emits excitation light that excites the fluorochrome; an image-acquisition section that acquires fluorescence emitted from the biological tissue when irradiated with the excitation light from the excitation light source; an autofluorescence signal setting section that sets an autofluorescence signal intensity to be emitted from the biological tissue when irradiated with the excitation light; and an image compensation section that compensates fluorescence image information acquired by the image-acquisition section on the basis of the autofluorescence signal intensity set by the autofluorescence signal setting section.

Provided is a fluorescence observation apparatus including an excitation light source that emits excitation light; a Fabry-Perot resonator including a variable passband in which the wavelength of light that passes therethrough changes with changes in distance between the surfaces of optical members opposing each other with a distance therebetween, a fixed passband in which the wavelength of light that passes therethrough does not change irrespective of changes in the distance between the surfaces, and a transition band therebetween; an excitation-light cut filter that blocks passage of the excitation light; a band cut filter having a cut-off band including the transition band and not including the wavelength of the excitation light; and a photodetector that detects fluorescence that has passed through the Fabry-Perot resonator, the excitation-light cut filter, and the band cut filter.

An endoscope system and an observation method using the same includes an agent dispensing portion for dispensing towards an acquisition object a fluorescent agent; a light source portion for emitting excitation light for exciting the fluorescent agent and irradiation light having different spectral characteristics from the excitation light; an optical system for transmitting the excitation light and the irradiation light towards the acquisition object; image-acquisition means, disposed at a portion that is inserted inside a body cavity and capable of acquiring fluorescence excited from the acquisition object by the excitation light, and light in a different wavelength band, which is excited from the acquisition object by the irradiation light; and control means for controlling the agent-dispensing means so that the acquisition object is irradiated with the irradiation light before the fluorescent agent is spouted out towards the acquisition object and for synchronizing at least the operation for spouting the fluorescent agent from the agent dispensing portion with the irradiation of the excitation light.
