A three-dimensional object printer includes a head having a plurality of nozzles that discharge a liquid, a movement mechanism having an arm section that supports the head and having a plurality of joint sections provided on the arm section, a drive circuit that generates a drive signal to drive the head, a control circuit that generates a control signal to control supply of the drive signal to the head, a first cable for transmitting the drive signal from the drive circuit to the head, and a second cable for transmitting the control signal from the control circuit to the head. At least a part of the second cable is arranged along the arm section. The control signal is transmitted as a differential signal to the second cable.

A molding apparatus includes a heating section, a spreading section, a molding section, a drawing section and a curing section. The heating section which heats a mold material including particles and a binder agent which bonds together the particles, to a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the binder agent and forms a fluid mold material. The spreading section forms a mold layer by spreading the fluid mold material. The molding section layers the mold layers. The drawing section applies UV ink to a desired region of the mold layer. The curing section cures the UV ink applied to the desired region of the mold layer.

An ultraviolet ray curable ink composition adapted to be ejected by using an ink jet method is provided. The ultraviolet ray curable ink composition includes a polymerizable compound and metal powder. The metal powder is constituted from metal particles subjected to a surface treatment with a fluorine type silane compound and/or a fluorine type phosphoric acid ester as a surface treatment agent. A polymerizable compound includes a monomer having an alicyclic structure. This makes it possible to provide the ultraviolet ray curable ink composition which has excellent storage stability, can provide excellent dispersion stability of the metal particles of the metal powder. A printed object is also provided. Such a printed object is produced by using the ultraviolet ray curable ink composition.

A method for producing a three-dimensionally shaped object by stacking layers includes forming each layer using a three-dimensional shape composition containing particles, measuring the thickness of the layer, and ejecting onto the layer a liquid binder containing a binding agent capable of binding the particles. For the ejecting, the amount of the liquid binder to be ejected per unit area of the layer when viewed from above is adjusted according to the result of the measuring.
