The fundus observation apparatushas a function to form tomographic images and 3-dimensional images of a fundus Ef by scanning signal light LS as well as a function to form a moving image (observation image K) of a fundus Ef during OCT measurement. Furthermore, the fundus observation apparatusincludes an x-correction partand a y-correction partfor correcting a position in the fundus surface direction of the 3-dimensional image based on the observation image K, and a z-correction partfor correcting the position in the fundus depth direction of a 3-dimensional image, based on a tomographic image Gi of the fundus Ef based on the detection results of interference light LC of separately scanned signal light LS and reference light LR.

A fundus oculi observation device comprises: a first image forming part configured to optically acquire data and form a 2-dimensional image of a surface of a fundus oculi of an eye based on the data; a second image forming part configured to optically acquire data and form a tomographic image of the fundus oculi based on the data; a display; a controller configured to cause the display to display the 2-dimensional image and the tomographic image side by side; and a designating part configured to designate a partial region of the displayed tomographic image, wherein the controller finds a position within the 2-dimensional image corresponding to the designated partial region, and displays designated-position information in a superimposed state on the position within the 2-dimensional image.

A first signal and a second signal are captured at the same time, and the optical characteristics of a subject eye and the corneal shape thereof are measured simultaneously or substantially simultaneously. A calculation section captures a received light signal (first signal) from a first light receiving section and a received light signal (second signal) from a second light receiving section at the same timing or substantially the same timing, obtains the optical characteristics of the subject eye on the basis of the first signal, and obtains the corneal shape of the subject eye on the basis of the second signal. A measurement timing decision section decides, on the basis of the first and/or the second signal, measurement timings of the first signal and the second signal as objects for which a measurement calculation is carried out.
