The present disclosure related to acquisition of color calibration charts. In at least some examples herein, an image of a calibration color chart is processed. A lighting condition of the color calibration chart may be automatically determined.

To generate a proof of a printable item, a data structure is provided that maps a set of spot colors into a respective set of color values based on measurement data provided by a measurement device of colors printed by a printing system from the spot colors.

A target and a method to use the target to determine the translucence of media is disclosed. The target has a first region and a second region. The first region comprises a color chart. The second region comprises a test pattern that is covered by the sample media when the sample media is loaded onto the target. The test target has a first area and a second area. An image of the target loaded with the sample media is used to determine the translucence of the sample media. The color of the media over the first and second areas of the test target are matched to the nearest color patches in the image of the color chart. The estimated actual colors of the media over the first and second areas of the test target are determined using the known colors of the nearest color patches. The translucence is determined using the difference between the estimated actual colors of the media over the first and second areas of the test target.

Measuring translucence

The present disclosure provides methods and systems for aggregating print jobs of different lengths and/or customers to decrease the need for rewinding and splicing operations. An exemplary embodiment provides a method that comprises identifying individual label-printing jobs (1-8) that can be aggregated onto a roll of substrate (), and forming an aggregated label-printing job (). A set of colorants for printing a multi-colored image when viewed under non-visible radiation outside of the visible spectrum can include a first colorant and a second colorant. The first colorant can be capable of absorbing non-visible radiation and shifting the wavelength of the non-visible radiation to a visible wavelength, thus producing a visible color. Likewise, the second colorant can be capable of absorbing the non-visible radiation and shifting the wavelength to a second visible wavelength, thus producing a different visible color.
