Disclosed embodiments include computer-implemented methods, systems, and vehicles for detecting an intention to make a turn and automatically changing a view presented by the navigation system to increase a viewable portion of the turn. In an illustrative embodiment, a system includes a computing device that includes a processor and computer-readable media configured to store computer-executable instructions configured to cause the processor to: detect that a navigation system of a vehicle is operating without a predetermined destination; identify an intention of an operator to turn the vehicle; and, responsive to identifying the intention to turn the vehicle, automatically adjusting a view presented by a display of the navigation system to increase a viewable portion of the turn.

Map positioning via indication of turn intention

A method for dynamically displaying driver vehicle information within a vehicle is implemented by an in-vehicle computing system. The method includes detecting, by the computing system, in communication with a first display and a second display of the vehicle, that the first display is in a first state. The first display is configured to display driver content. The method further includes determining, by the computing system, a portion of the driver content to be displayed on the second display, and providing, by the computing system, and in response to the first state, at least the portion of the driver content for display on the second display.

Dynamically displaying driver vehicle information for vehicles

Various disclosed embodiments include systems, vehicles, and methods for providing decision support to a person planning to make a trip in a vehicle. In an illustrative embodiment, a computing device has computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions configured to cause the computing device to identify a current travel capability for the vehicle based on available energy aboard the vehicle. A selection of travel information is presented to a user of the computing device. The travel information may include information including a duration of charging required to provide sufficient additional energy to perform a first trip, at least one range of additional travel possible without additional charging after performing the first trip, and at least one potential intermediate destination reachable while performing the first trip without undertaking additional charging.

Decision support for trip planning based on energy requirements

Technical solutions provide a model-based cooling control of an EV battery during a direct current fast charging (DCFC) event. The technical solutions can include a processor coupled with memory to identify a state of charge (SOC), a temperature threshold and a gradient threshold for a difference in temperature between at least two cells of an EV battery. The processor can determine an amount of cooling to apply during a charge of the battery based at least on the SOC, the temperature of the battery and the difference in temperature input into a model for cooling the battery to maintain the temperature below the temperature threshold and the difference in temperature below the gradient threshold. The processor can provide to the battery the amount of cooling determined by the model to maintain the temperature below the temperature threshold and the difference in temperature below the gradient threshold during the charge.

Various embodiments provide recommendations for a parking area for a vehicle. Information regarding an object within a specified area is detected by a sensor of the vehicle. The specified area is divided into a plurality of tiles. Based on the information regarding the object, one or more of the tiles is classified as unobstructed tiles. Based on the one or more unobstructed tiles and a footprint of the vehicle, a parking area for the vehicle is identified within the specified area. The footprint of the vehicle fits inside the parking area. A visualization associated with the parking area is generated.

Disclosed embodiments include systems, vehicles, and computer-implemented methods to adjust a threshold level of force to be applied to a steering wheel to disengage an autosteering system. In an illustrative embodiment, a system includes a computing device operably coupled with a vehicle that includes a processor and a computer-readable media configured to store computer-executable instructions configured to cause the processor to: detect that an autosteering system of the vehicle is engaged; detect a level of force applied by an operator to a steering wheel of the vehicle; and disengage the autosteering system when the level of force surpasses a threshold chosen from a default threshold and an adjusted threshold, wherein the adjusted threshold is applied upon detecting a predetermined condition.

Systems and methods are provided for suggesting a charging station for an electric vehicle. A partial range of the electric vehicle corresponding to a predetermined percentage of the current state of charge of a battery of the electric vehicle is determined. A location corresponding to the partial range, along a route to a destination, is determined and used to select a suggested charging station based on the location corresponding to the partial range. The suggested charging station is generated for presentation at a display.

Smart electric vehicle trip planner algorithm

Systems and methods are provided for suggesting a charging station for an electric vehicle. A destination of the electric vehicle is determined, and a schedule of a user of the electric vehicle is accessed. An event scheduled during a travel period to reach the destination is identified in the schedule of the user, and a suggested charging station is selected based at least on the destination and the identified scheduled event. The suggested charging station is generated for presentation at a display.

Disclosed embodiments include systems, vehicles, and methods for tracking off-road travel. In an illustrative embodiment, a system includes a computing device having computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions configured to cause the computing device to monitor a vehicle location. The vehicle location is identified on map data for an area encompassing the location and including road data for recognized roads in the area. Off-road travel is detected in response to determining that the vehicle location is outside of the recognized roads. Travel data is recorded representing the off-road travel of the vehicle.

A zoom command to modify a zoom level of the map interface may be received, and in response to receiving the zoom command, a subset of the plurality of electric charging stations having a charging speed above a threshold charging speed may be identified, and a second plurality of icons, corresponding to the identified subset of the plurality of electric charging stations, may be generated for presentation at the display on a zoomed-out view of the map interface. Selectable options to display a detailed view of information related to an electric charger associated with an electric charger category from among multiple electric charger categories may be provided.

In an illustrative embodiment, a perimeter is determined indicating a travel range of a vehicle from a starting location based on the capacity of the battery system. An option is provided to generate an extended perimeter indicating an extended travel range of the vehicle travel from the starting location based on a recharge of the battery system at the at least one charging location. Map data is generated including at least one visualized travel range chosen from the perimeter and the extended perimeter.

Disclosed embodiments include systems, vehicles, and methods for receiving inputs indicative of a destination and a potential intermediate destination and determining a time potentially available at the intermediate destination. In an illustrative embodiment, a system includes a computing device having computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions configured to cause the computing device to receive a first input indicative of a destination. A second input is received that is indicative of a desired arrival time at the destination. A third input is received that is indicative of an intermediate destination to be visited before traveling to the destination. A first travel time to the intermediate destination, a second travel time to the destination, and a time available at the intermediate destination are determined. The time available at the intermediate destination is communicated to a user.

A system and method of operation of a computing system comprising: receiving a current location; determining a travel path based on the current location; determining a directionality along the travel path while in a free drive navigation mode; predicting a connectivity area based on the directionality; generating map information for a connectivity segment in the connectivity area with a low connectivity; and communicating the map information for storing onto a device for displaying when the connectivity segment is at a surrounding geographic adjacent area relative to the current location and while in the free drive navigation mode.
