The invention provides a power storage and supply method and system for a drilling rig. The system comprises a primary common direct current (DC) bus, at least one secondary DC bus, at least one bi-directional DC-to-DC converter connected between the primary common DC bus and the secondary DC bus, at least one motor group each connected to the secondary DC bus through a DC-to-AC inverter, and an Energy Storage System (ESS) configured to be charged by regenerative energy from at least one motor group and discharge power to at least one motor group through the primary common DC bus and the bi-directional DC-to-DC converter. The system may further comprise a bi-directional AC-to-DC converter between the primary DC bus and an AC bus, wherein the ESS is further configured to be charged by regenerative energy generated during lowering operation of a jacking system for the drilling rig, wherein the jacking system is connected to the AC bus.

A reliquefaction system and process for innovative reliquefaction of LNG boil-off gas (BOG), where the reliquefaction is propelled by LNG gas fuel. The reliquefaction system is preferably installed on shipboard including LNG carrier or harbor tug, where the LNG carrier and harbor tug use a gas fuel engine.

Process and system for reliquefying boil-off gas (BOG)

A structural block is fabricated with necessary components and structure for LNG storage and/or process. The structural block may be an LNG tank with the same configuration as that in an LNG carrier. The structural block may also be a regasification plant or a liquefaction plant to be used for LNG process. An existing vessel, e.g. an LNG carrier, is cut apart to form a forward section and an aft section. The forward section and the aft section are moved away from each other to form a space therebetween. The structural block is then placed into the space and jointed to the forward and aft sections, by welding for example, to form an integrated new vessel. The structural block provides the new vessel with increased LNG storage and transportation capabilities as well as regasification and/or liquefaction process facilities to meet the increased demand for LNG storage, transportation and processing.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a process for liquefaction of a natural gas. The process includes cooling the natural gas with a first refrigerant provided by a first cooling system and cooling the natural gas with a second refrigerant provided by a second cooling system. The second cooling system is a single phase cooling system. The first and second cooling systems operate independently from each other. The second refrigerant is cooled with the first refrigerant so that the cooling capacity of the second refrigerant and the second cooling system is increased.

A cargo transfer monitoring system at least comprises at least one vessel motion sensor, one pair of wireless modems, a central data processing unit with decision-making module, a rugged display panel as the operator station, and communication coupling. The cargo transfer operation will be carried out by a crane operator sitting in the crane cabin on the primary vessel. The transfer will take place either from target vessel to primary vessel or from primary vessel to target vessel. The sensor(s) collect the real-time motion of vessels, which is carried over to the central computer through data cable or wireless radio link. The decision-making module predicts the motion of the vessels for a subsequent time period. Based on the predicted value, the decision-making module projects the expected or predicted impact force on the payload if the operation is started at the particular time. If the predicted impact force on the payload is below a predetermined threshold, the system recommends the crane operator to resume the landing operation. The system can predict the motion and hence the rope tension for lifting operations and make similar recommendation to resume the lifting operation if the predicted rope tension falls below a predefined threshold.

During an offloading operation between a first and a second body, an operating envelope of an offloading system can be displaced to compensate for a drifting movement of one of the bodies. By appropriately displacing the operating envelope, offloading operation can continue under safe conditions even though the working limit of the original operating envelope is breached due to the drifting movement of one of the bodies.

Disclosed are various apparatus and method for transferring a hydrocarbon fluid between two bodies. To this purpose, a transfer skid and transfer hoses are moved from a first body to a second body to be installed thereupon to provide fluid communication between the two bodies. Offloading of hydrocarbon fluid may then take place between the two bodies. Emergency release operation may be triggered during the offloading, where the transfer hoses are disconnected from the transfer skid, and are returned to the first body. Various features of the transfer skid and associated apparatus allow the transfer skid to be installed on the second body with improved mating connections, transfer hoses to be returned to the first body after offloading operation without hydrocarbon fluid leakage, and transfer hoses to disconnect with speed and safety during emergency release operation.
