Provided is an image forming apparatus including: an image bearing member which is configured to bear a toner image; an intermediate transfer belt; a transfer roller; a drive roller; a driven roller; a meandering prevention pulley; and a meandering prevention belt. The meandering prevention pulley is arranged to face an end surface of the driven roller in an axial direction of the driven roller. The meandering prevention belt is arranged on an outside in the axial direction relative to the meandering prevention pulley, and protrudes from an inner peripheral surface of the intermediate transfer belt. The meandering prevention pulley has a guide surface which faces the meandering prevention belt in the axial direction, and which is formed to have a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.5 μm or more.

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image carrying member units and an intermediate transfer unit. The image carrying member units include image carrying members and image carrying member support frames. The intermediate transfer unit includes an intermediate transfer belt. The image forming apparatus includes: a locating member; image carrying member-side guide rails that are formed on upper end portions of the image carrying member support frames and extend along a horizontal direction; and a main body-side guide rail that is formed as a bridge in the horizontal direction between the image carrying member-side guide rails. When the intermediate transfer unit is fitted to the main body of the apparatus, the intermediate transfer unit slides on the image carrying member-side guide rails and the main body-side guide rail and is guided by the locating member to be located in a fitting position.

Image forming apparatus adopting an intermediate transfer method

An image forming apparatus of the present disclosure includes a drum unit, a development unit, a stopper, a pressing unit and an interlock device. The development unit includes a development roller that develops a toner image on the photoconductor drum. The drum unit and the development unit can be removed from the main body of the apparatus. The stopper is freely moved between a restriction position where the removal of the drum unit is restricted and a release position where the restriction of the removal of the drum unit is released. The pressing unit is freely moved between a pressing position where the development roller is pressed onto the photoconductor drum and a pressing release position where the development roller is separated from the photoconductor drum such that the pressing is released. The interlocking device interlocks the movements of the stopper and the pressing unit.

A sheet conveying apparatus includes a casing, a first conveying path, a second conveying path, a joining conveyance path, and a guide member. The joining conveyance path is connected to a junction portion of the first conveying path and the second conveying path, and extends downward in a sheet conveying direction. The guide member is disposed in the junction portion of the first conveying path and the second conveying path, and shifted to a position between a first position to guide the first sheet from the first conveying path to the joining conveyance path and a second position to guide the second sheet from the second conveying path to the joining conveyance path. The guide member includes a supporting point portion disposed at a central part or around thereof in a lengthwise direction, so as to change in position by pivoting around the supporting point portion.

A developing device includes a developing container for accommodating a two-component developer; a developer bearing member for bearing and conveying the developer, a fixed magnet including a release pole for releasing the developer from the developer bearing member, being fixed to the inside of the developer bearing member; and a backflow prevention member that is a sheet-shaped member disposed along the entire length in the longitudinal direction of the developer bearing member so as to be upstream in the direction of rotation of the developer bearing member as viewed from the release pole, the backflow prevention member being disposed so that a proximal end portion thereof is fixed to an inside surface of the developing container, and a distal end portion thereof is in contact with or adjacent to the developer bearing member and facing downstream in the direction of rotation of the developer bearing member.

A developer supply mechanism is composed of: a developer supply path one end side of which is opened upward and which guides the developer in substantially a vertical direction; a convex portion that is formed on a wall surface of the developer supply path; a coil spring that is disposed in the developer supply path, stretchable and shrinkable in a longitudinal direction of the developer supply path, pressurized to the convex portion in a natural-length state, stretched toward one end side of the developer supply path when the convex portion is hooked on between pitches by a circumferential-direction rotation, and is given a horizontal-direction movement to leave the convex portion when coming off the convex portion; and a drive portion that is connected to the coil spring at the other end side of the developer supply path and rotates the coil spring in a circumferential direction of the coil spring.

An intermediate transfer unit of an image forming apparatus is provided between a plurality of developer containers for containing developer and a plurality of developing devices. The intermediate transfer unit includes an intermediate transfer unit for secondarily transferring primarily transferred developed images from the plurality of image carriers onto a paper, an intermediate transfer unit driving mechanism for driving the intermediate transfer unit, and a housing for supporting the intermediate transfer unit driving mechanism. One end of the housing includes a plurality of developer inlet ports positionally corresponding to the developer supply ports of the developer containers respectively, a plurality of developer outlet ports positionally corresponding to the developer receiving ports of the developing devices respectively, and a plurality of developer supply paths connecting between the developer inlet ports and the developer outlet ports respectively.
