A radar device includes a transmission part that transmits a radar wave which has been frequency-modulated such that one measurement cycle has a rising section in which a frequency increases and a falling section in which a frequency decreases, a reception part that derives respective beat signals of the rising section and the falling section, and a signal processor that performs a precipitation determining process on the basis of an analysis of the beat signals. In the precipitation determining process, in the absence of objects other than precipitation objects from a transmission range of the radar wave, it is determined whether a spectral similarity of the frequency spectra of the rising and falling section with precipitation reference spectra is not less than a threshold, and if the spectral similarity is not less than the threshold as a result of the determination, it is determined that precipitation is present.

Precipitation determining device

In a radar apparatus, a determining unit compares a ratio (&#x2212;Vr/Vn) of a relative velocity (Vr) to a radar-apparatus-installed vehicle velocity (Vn) with a determination value (&#x3b1;) that is a cosine (cos &#x3b8;c) of the detection limit angle (&#xb1;&#x3b8;c) or the cosine (cos &#x3b8;c) plus a correction value including a measurement error. When a determination is made that the ratio (&#x2212;Vr/Vn) exceeds the determination value (&#x3b1;), a target is determined to be a real target of a crossing object, such as a crossing pedestrian, or a stationary object, whereas when a determination is made that the target is not a real target, the target is determined to be a ghost of a crossing object or a stationary object. Thus, a real target of a crossing object or a stationary object can be distinguished from a ghost of the object, and hence a ghost is not falsely determined to be a real target, preventing inappropriate brake control.

Radar apparatus

The object detection apparatus is provided with a signal processing unit and an object detection unit. The signal processing unit performs a frequency analysis of a beat signal obtained by transmitting and receiving continuous waves and estimates an incoming direction of reception waves, the object detection unit executes, based on a processing result of the signal processing unit, at least an extracting process of an object candidate, a tracking process for an object and the object candidate, and an object recognition process that recognizes the object candidate to be the object. The object detection unit is characterized in that the unit executes, individually for each type of object to be detected, the extracting process, the tracking process and the object recognition process, and changes content of processes depending on a feature of the object to be detected.

A radar apparatus generates a spectrum distribution where frequencies in a beat signal are associated with intensities of respective frequency components. Based on a plurality of spectrum distributions generated over a predetermined number of measurement cycles prescribed in advance, the radar apparatus generates a reflection intensity distribution where frequencies are associated with road surface reflection intensities of the radar wave from a road surface at each frequency. In the reflection intensity distribution, the radar apparatus detects an intensity peak indicating a frequency that maximizes the road surface reflection intensity. Based on the detected intensity peak, the radar apparatus determines at least whether or not the radar apparatus is in an axis deviation state that is taken as a state where a reference axis of the radar apparatus has an inclination of not less than a prescribed angle in a vehicle height direction relative to a horizontal axis prescribed to a vehicle.

Radar apparatus, method for inspecting axis deviation thereof, and computer-readable recording medium with program recorded thereon

In a radar apparatus, whether or not a second target candidate associated with second target information satisfying a first condition in relation to a first target candidate is present is determined. When determined that the second target candidate is present, the first target information corresponding to the first target candidate is compared with the second target information corresponding to the second target candidate. The 'first condition' is that distances and relative speeds match. As a result of the comparison, when a difference between the power at a frequency peak corresponding to the subject target candidate and the power at a frequency peak corresponding to the comparison target candidate is greater than a prescribed threshold, the subject target candidate is determined to be a false image. Meanwhile, when determined that the difference is the prescribed threshold or less, the subject target candidate is determined to be a real image.

A target detection apparatus counts the number of reflection points, taking a reflection point of interest as being a target reflection point, for each detected reflection point, the reflection points being present in a target area that is set with reference to the target reflection point and each having a difference in speed from the target reflection point, the difference being not more than a preset identical speed determination threshold, and extracts a parallel-running pair that is a pair of the reflection points that meet preset parallel-running conditions. The target detection apparatus determines that the two reflection points configuring the parallel-running pair originate from an identical target, when a count value is not less than a preset size determination threshold, the count value being of at least either of the two reflection points configuring the extracted parallel-running pair and generates target information reflecting the determination results.

Target detection apparatus and vehicle control system

The cruise control apparatus includes a headway control means for making a first determination as to whether or not at least one recognized front vehicle running ahead of an own vehicle is a preceding vehicle present in an own-vehicle lane in which the own vehicle is running, performing a headway control to cause the own vehicle to run following the preceding vehicle when the first determination is affirmative, and a vehicle type recognizing means for recognizing a type of the recognized front vehicle. The headway control means is configured to change a way to perform the headway control depending on the type (vehicle size, for example) of the recognized front vehicle.

Cruise control apparatus

A vehicle-mounted radar apparatus for transmitting radar waves in a forward traveling direction of a vehicle mounting the apparatus thereon (radar-mounting vehicle) and receiving the radar waves reflected from an object to acquire information about the object. In the apparatus, a target detection unit transmits and receives the radar waves to detect positions of targets. A representative target selection unit selects a representative target from the targets detected by the target detection unit. A same-object target selection unit selects targets belonging to the same object as the representative target. An object position determination unit calculates a value of a predefined function of lateral positions of two or more targets of all the targets selected by the same-object target selection unit as a lateral position, along a vehicle-width direction of the radar-mounting vehicle, of the specific reflecting object.

Vehicle-mounted radar apparatus

A vehicle-mounted radar apparatus for transmitting radar waves toward the outside of a vehicle mounting the apparatus thereon and receiving the radar waves reflected from an object to thereby acquire information about the object. In the apparatus, a target detection unit transmits and receives the radar waves to detect positions of targets. An object position determination unit determines a position of the object reflecting the radar waves on the basis of the positions of the targets. A representative target selection unit selects a representative target from the targets. A same-object target selection unit selects targets belonging to the same object as the representative target. A large-vehicle determination unit determines whether or not the object is a large vehicle on the basis of a number of targets selected by the same-object target selection unit and reflection wave received powers for the respective targets.

A vehicle-mounted radar apparatus for transmitting radar waves toward the outside of a vehicle mounting the apparatus thereon and receiving the radar waves reflected from an object to thereby acquire information about the object. In the apparatus, a target detection unit transmits and receives the radar waves to detect positions of targets. An object position determination unit determines a position of the object reflecting the radar waves on the basis of the positions of the targets. A representative target selection unit selects a representative target from the targets detected by the target detection unit. A same-object target selection unit selects targets belonging to the same object as the representative target. A large-vehicle determination unit determines whether or not an extent of the targets selected by the same-object target selection unit is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value for large-vehicle determination.

Vechicle-mounted radar apparatus

In an environment inspection mode of a calibration system, a radar device executes a signal analysis process to calculate an eigenvalue ratio of each comparison eigenvalue. The eigenvalue ratio has a small value when a pair of eigenvalues corresponding to arrival radar waves has a strong correlation. On the other hand, the eigenvalue ratio has a large value when the eigenvalue ratio is calculated between an eigenvalue and thermal noise. When there is no eigenvalue which is not more than a reference threshold value, the radar device indicates a notice that the current environment is suitable for the calibration of the radar device. On the other hand, when there is presence of at least one eigenvalue of not more than the reference threshold value, the radar device indicates a notice that the current environment is unsuitable for the calibration of the radar device.

Radar device, calibration system and calibration method

In a radar device, an azimuth estimating module estimates, when there are a plurality of arrival echo and an angular range between the arrival azimuth of one of adjacent arrival echoes in the plurality of arrival echoes and the arrival azimuth of the other thereof is equal to or smaller than a predetermined azimuth resolution of a plurality of receiving antennas, a virtual azimuth and virtual power for each of first frequency components and second frequency components. The virtual azimuth is within the angular range between the arrival azimuth of one of adjacent arrival echoes in the plurality of arrival echoes and the arrival azimuth of the other thereof, and the virtual power is received power of a virtual arrival echo from the virtual azimuth.

Radar device for detecting azimuth of target

A direction detection apparatus transmits radar waves, with resultant reflected waves being received as incident waves by elements of an array antenna. Normally the direction of a target object is calculated based on analyzing respective received signals from the antenna elements, in calculations utilizing an estimated total number of incident wave directions. In an antenna direction adjustment mode, an actual number of target objects, and hence actual number of incident wave directions, is utilized in place of the estimated value, thereby enabling direction detection information to be obtained which does not fluctuate with time, thus facilitating the adjustment.
