A memory cartridge having a semiconductor memory for storing digital image data is provided with a D/A converter for converting digital image data read out of the memory into an analog video signal, and a display device for displaying an image represented by this video signal provided in a first embodiment of the present invention. In another embodiment, a memory cartridge having a semiconductor image memory for storing a plurality of frames of digital image data is provided with an image display device and a frame feed switch. Predetermined image data is read out of the image memory and the image represented by the data is displayed on the display device. Displayed images are shifted sequentially in response to imputs from the frame feed switch. Also disclosed is a digital still video camera which includes a memory cartridge having the display device that may be loaded. The camera has an opening which allows an image displayed on the display device to be seen from the outside when the cartridge is loaded in the camera. If the camera is arranged so that a picture just imaged by the camera is displayed on the display device, the user can check whether the desired picture has been properly taken. This arrangement also allows the display device to be utilized as a viewfinder.

Memory cartridge and digital electronic still video camera in which said

A magnetic record erase circuit which is capable of substantially erasing frequency signals such as video signals recorded in a rotary magnetic recording medium such as a magnetic disc or a magnetic drum. In the magnetic record erase circuit, when a plurality of frequency-multiplexed signals recorded in one or all of tracks provided on the rotary magnetic recording medium are to be erased, the frequency of an erase signal to be supplied to a magnetic head forming a part of recording means can be varied increasingly stepwise in a given range and at least in the lower frequency region of the given range the current value of the erase signal can be set higher than the optimum recording current value of the magnetic head.

Magnetic record erase circuit

A camera for shooting a movie picture and a still picture has a casing in which a pair of imaging optical systems for shooting a still picture and a movie picture, respectively are opened in a front surface of the casing. A functional section for shooting a still picture is disposed in the proximity of the imaging optical system for shooting a still picture, circuits and mechanisms necessary to shoot a movie picture are located in the rear side of the imaging optical system for shooting a movie picture, and a video tape recording mechanism and circuits related thereto are arranged at the back of the functional section for shooting a still picture. Consequently, a movie picture and a still picture can be shot at the same time. Since a film can be loaded in and removed from the camera through the upper surface of the casing, a statisfactory operability is attained. Furthermore, the casing is provided with a cap covering the upper surface of the casing and hence the casing has an improved strength and effectively prevents water and dust.

Dual film and video tape camera

A video camera includes a casing having a generally rectangular parallelepiped shape, a first imaging optical system for shooting a still image and a second imaging optical system for shooting a video picture. The first and second imaging optical systems are disposed in a front surface of the casing so as to be directed to an object scene. A still camera unit is also disposed in the casing in the proximity of the first imaging optical system for shooting the object scene to record a still picture thereof on a film. A video circuit is provided in the casing on the rear side of the second imaging optical system for shooting the object scene to form a video signal representing a movie picture thereof, and a video tape recording section is also provided in the casing on the rear side of the first imaging optical system for recording the video signal on a video tape. The casing includes a first opening to load a film in said still camera unit and a second opening to install a video tape cassette in the video tape recording section. The first and second openings are disposed in an upper surface of the casing.

Camera for shooting movie and still pictures

A two-dimensional solid-state image sensor device, comprising: a plurality of picture cells which are two-dimensionally arranged in column and row directions, and each of which comprises a static induction transistor having drain and source regions with one conductivity type which are disposed on opposite sides of a high resistance semiconductor channel region, and control and shielding gate regions with the other conductivity type which are adjacent to the channel region to control a current flowing between the drain and source regions, and a transparent electrode disposed via a capacitance on at least a portion of the control gate region, in a manner that light is incident through the transparent electrode to the control gate region in which the charge produced by the light excitation is stored to control the current; a plurality of selection lines, each of which connects the control gate regions in each column in common via the capacitances; and a plurality of signal readout lines, each of which connects the drain or source regions in each row in common. Each picture cell is selected in the column and row directions so that a signal is read out therefrom. The shielding gate regions are electrically connected in common in the column or row direction and electrically isolated in the remaining direction so that voltages are independently applied to the pixels.

Two-dimensional solid-state image sensor device

A two-dimensional solid-state image sensor device comprising a plurality of picture cells two-dimensionally arranged in column and row directions. Each cell has a static induction transistor having drain and source regions disposed on opposite sides of a high resistance semiconductor channel region, and a gate region adjacent to the channel region to control a current flowing between the drain and source regions, and a transparent electrode disposed via a capacitance on at least a portion of the gate region, in a manner that light is incident through the transparent electrode to the gate region in which the charge produced by the light excitation is stored to control the current. Selection lines connected to the gate regions in each column in common via the capacitances are sequentially selected. A readout pulse voltage is applied to the selected selection line during one horizontal scanning period and a refresh pulse voltage larger than the readout pulse voltage is applied to the selected selection line during one horizontal blanking period subsequent to the horizontal scanning period. Each picture cell is selected in the column and row directions so that a signal is read out therefrom.

A two-dimensional solid-state image sensor device comprising a plurality of picture cells two-dimensionally arranged in column and row directions. Each cell has a static induction transistor having drain and source regions disposed on opposite sides of a high resistance semiconductor channel region, and control and shielding gate regions adjacent to the channel region to control a current flowing between the drain and source regions, and a transparent electrode disposed via a capacitance on at least a portion of the control gate region, in a manner that light is incident through the transparent electrode to the control gate region in which the charge produced by the light excitation is stored to control the current. Selection lines and signal readout lines are connected to the control gate regions in each column in common via the capacitances and to the drain or source regions in each row in common, respectively. Each picture cell is selected in the column and row directions so that a signal is read out therefrom.

From each of a plurality of picture element cells having a non-destructive readout characteristic, arranged two-dimensionally and connected to the same signal output line, an image signal is read out without mutual interference of the picture elements. To this end, a blanking period is provided between the readout periods of the respective picture element cells connected to the same signal output line and, in this blanking period, the signal output line is cleared (refreshed).

Image signal readout methd for solid-state image sensor

An image storage device in which stored information read out from each non-destructive readout picture element cell of a photoelectric converter is applied at a first scanning speed to a visual display unit to produce a visible image and the information is also supplied at a lower second scanning speed to a recorder. Switching or branching means is provided for applying the information from the photoelectric converter to the visual display unit and the recorder.

Image storage device

A multicolor solid image pickup element having bonding pat portions is prepared by an on-wafer method utilizing a silver halide photographic emulsion. A solvent permeating preventing layer is formed on a solid image pickup element base plate having an array of image elements. A silver halide emulsion layer is then formed in the layer, and the emulsion layer is removed at the portions corresponding to the bonding pat portions of the base plate. A micro color filter composed of two or more color separation filter elements is then formed in the emulsion layer by applying thereto a repeating pattern exposure, followed by color development. Each of the color filter elements corresponds to each image element, and a protective layer is formed on the whole surface of the base plate. The protective layer and the solvent permeation preventing layer are then successively removed at the portions corresponding to the bonding pat portions.

Process of producing color solid image pickup element base plates

A multicolor solid image pickup element base plate having bonding pat portions is produced by an on-wafer method utilizing a silver halide photographic emulsion. A solvent permeation preventing layer is formed on a solid image pickup element base plate having an array of a number of image elements. A silver halide emulsion layer is formed on that layer. A micro color filter composed of two or more color separation filter elements is then formed on the emulsion layer. The filter is formed by repeatedly applying a pattern exposure and color development onto the emulsion layer. A protective layer is formed over the entire surface of the base plate. The protective layer, silver halide emulsion layer, and solvent permeation preventing layer are then successively removed. Blackened silver portions may be formed in the emulsion layer at portions corresponding to bonding pat portions prior to the formation of the protective layer by applying thereto a pattern exposure followed by black and white development.
