According to an aspect, a display device with a touch detection function includes: a display unit; a detecting unit; and a control unit that controls an operation timing of the display unit and the detecting unit. The control unit performs display processing and touch detection processing alternately a plurality of times in a display period of an image of one frame, the display processing being processing of performing control on the electric charge, the touch detection processing being processing of performing the touch detection. The control unit varies a length of a first period, a length of a second period, or both in display periods of images of two frames that are displayed consecutively, the first period being a period in which the display processing is performed once, the second period being a period in which the touch detection processing is performed once.

A display device with a touch detection function includes a substrate, pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix in a display region on a plane parallel to the substrate, a display function layer having a function to display the image in the display region, drive electrodes provided facing the pixel electrodes, touch detection electrodes that form electrostatic capacitance between there and the drive electrodes, a control unit that generates a control signal to switch between a display operation period for applying a display signal between the pixel and drive electrodes and a display stop period for stopping the display operation. The control unit generates first and second control signals respectively having a first frequency and a second frequency that is different from the first frequency, and has first and second operation modes respectively including a period controlled by the first control signal and a period controlled by the second control signal.

According to one embodiment, a pixel signal from a memory is supplied to an arbitrary pixel. A controller selectively switches a scanning frequency of common electrodes including a touch detection system, between a higher frequency and a lower frequency, and allocates banks in the memory, each bank having a capacity of a fixed number of items of the pixel data. The controller defines one unit including a group of lines of the pixel data, sets a line number of the one unit to the fixed number when the scanning frequency is the higher frequency, and sets the line number of the one unit to another line number which is greater than the fixed number when the scanning frequency is the lower frequency.

Display device and method of driving the same

A display signal processing device includes a reference gradation voltage generating circuit that generates ten reference gradation voltages, and a D/A converting circuit that converts a video signal to a pixel voltage by selectively using the ten reference gradation voltages obtained from the reference gradation voltage generating circuit. The reference gradation voltage generating circuit includes four variable voltage generating sections that generate output voltages, which are varied for gamma correction, and nine resistors that are connected to divide difference voltages obtained between output terminals of the four variable voltage generating sections into the ten reference gradation voltages.

There is provided a display method of a flat display unit arranged so as to prevent an abnormality of a screen which is otherwise caused by coupling by inhibiting homo-polar video signals from being sampled within a sample and hold circuit having two circuits. Positive and negative polar video signals are sampled always alternately in A and B circuits of the respective sample and hold circuits of a signal line driving section by keeping the polarity of a video signal voltage before non-displaying timing same with that of the non-displaying timing, by stopping to switch the two systems of the sample and hold circuits and to output a signal when the non-displaying timing.

Flat panel display unit and display method of the same

A tape carrier package (TCP) and method of fabricating a tape carrier package (TCP) are provided to reduce a width dimension in a slim tape carrier package (TCP) used in a flat-panel display apparatus, such as a liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus. While some margin in width is necessary for absorbing the spreading of potting resin that seals a driver integrated circuit (IC), the spreading is limited within a narrow area by providing a configuration that is formed of an insulating film on a flexible insulating board. An insulating-film-omission region for not arranging an insulating film is installed within a band of the insulating film for covering a group of wirings on the insulated film board and is arranged to surround the mounting region of the driver integrated circuit (IC). The insulating-film-omission region serves for storing the sealing resin, while an inner edge of the band of the insulating film serves as a levee for preventing the sealing resin from wetting and spreading.
