A display-integrated tablet device capable of improving luminance of an image displayed while carrying out coordinate detection plural times during a one-image-plane display period. X-coordinate detection is carried out in a manner to take, in an X-coordinate detection section, a voltage obtained by feeding each of second gate electrodes with a pulse generated in a pen-pulse generation circuit. Y-coordinate detection is carried out by inputting a voltage obtained by outputting of a pulse for scanning Y-electrodes (lines) from a stylus pen to a Y-coordinate peak detection circuit. After coordinate detection is thus executed, only Y-electrodes in a predetermined range about a Y-coordinate previously detected are scanned in a Y-coordinate detection period provided after each of block display periods defined by dividing an image display period.

Display-integrated tablet device

A field emission type fluorescent display device capable of exhibiting high luminescence under a low voltage while minimizing leakage luminescence and color mixing, to thereby improve display quality. An anode and a field emission cathode are arranged opposite to each other and the cathode is divided into a plurality of unit regions in a matrix-like configuration, which are matrix-driven, resulting in a display being selectively carried out. The unit regions each are divided into a plurality of subregions and the cathode and anode are divided into a plurality of strip-like electrodes perpendicular to each other, respectively. The strip-like electrode each correspond to each of subregions and are commonly connected to each other at every second interval. Also, a focusing electrode may be arranged between the gate and the anode so as to surround the unit regions.

Field emission display (FED) with matrix driving, electron beam focusing

An image display device including a field emission element capable of preventing diffusion of electrons to be impinged on a display section. An anode substrate is provided thereon with a phosphor-deposited display section and a cathode substrate is provided thereon with field emission elements including cathode conductors, emitter electrodes and gate electrodes. The cathode conductors and gate electrodes are formed into a stripe-like shape and arranged so as to intersect each other to form a matrix. A stripe-like diffusion prevention electrode is arranged between each adjacent two of the gate electrodes. The emitter electrodes selected by the gate electrodes and cathode conductors emit electrons. The diffusion prevention electrodes on both sides of each of the gate electrodes selected are applied thereto a voltage lower than a voltage of the gate electrodes, so that the electrons may be impinged on the display section required without diffusion, to thereby permit picture cells required to emit light.

Image display device and drive device therefor

An electron gun and a CRT capable of accomplishing a reduction in spot diameter of electron beams, an increase in drive speed and control of luminance while being simplified in structure. Field emission cathodes acting as the electron source for the electron gun are arranged in the form of or divided into plurality of the small regions S for matrix driving, to thereby control luminance of the CRT depending on the number of small regions S selected. Thus, luminance control over any desired number of gradations which exhibits satisfactory resistance to noise and linearity can be realized while simplifying the structure, resulting in the field emission cathodes being highly conveniently applied to the electron gun of the CRT, leading to an improvement in functionality of the CRT.

Field emission display (FED) with matrix driving electron beam focusing

To decrease the number of a cathode power source for operating a portion between the cathode and the gate, a structure is employed in which three gate lines for red, green and blue filters are provided, the filter being arranged such that the red optical filter has a lowest radiant efficiency, the blue optical filter has a secondly low radiant efficiency and the green optical filter has a highest radiant efficiency. In inverse proportion to the radiant efficiencies, the numbers of emitters in field-emission arrays formed in the three gate lines are determined.

Field-emission device with multiple emitter tips

Odd-order patch-like gate electrodes are, by gate lead lines, connected to a first electrode, even-order patch-like gate electrodes are, by gate lead lines, connected to a second gate electrode. The first and second gate electrodes are selectively and alternately operated. By making the potential of gate electrodes, which are not being selected, to be a low level, the patch-like gate electrodes, which are being operated, can be surrounded by low-level conductors. Thus, electrons emitted from the patch-like gate electrodes can be converged.

Field emission print head

A drive circuit for an image display device capable of permitting anode lead-out wires to be led out without using a three-dimensional wiring structure and an image free of color bleeding to be displayed. Two-divided first and second anode electrodes are arranged opposite to stripe-like gate electrodes and are alternately driven. During driving of the first anode electrodes, cathode electrodes are scanned and only gate electrodes opposite to the anode electrodes are fed with image data. Then, the second anode electrodes are driven and scanning is likewise carried out. Thus, an image for one frame is displayed. Electrodes arranged on both sides of each of the anode electrodes and gate electrodes in a manner to be adjacent thereto have a potential kept at a ground level.

Drive circuit for image display device

A field emission type display device capable of providing display with gradation and permitting the whole display device to be integrated with a display drive circuit section. Memory sections are arranged in correspondence to image cell sections, resulting in static display being accomplished. Also, Light emission of an anode is carried out depending on data held in the memory section, so that a luminous period is increased and adequate luminance is provided at a drive voltage substantially lower than that required for dynamic display. An FEC element is incorporated in each of the memory sections in correspondence to incorporation of an FEC element in each of the image cell sections, so that the image cell sections and memory sections may be concurrently manufactured during manufacturing of the FEC elements, to thereby significantly simplify manufacturing of display device.

Field emission type display device

A display-integrated tablet device is disclosed and is capable of increasing an actual display period to improve luminance of an image displayed. An actual image display period in a one-image-plane display period is divided into a plurality of block display periods and a detection period is provided before or after each of the block display periods. During the detection period, a pulse for detection is generated from a stylus pen and a voltage obtained at each of electrodes is input to each of X- and Y-coordinate detection sections and held in those sections for coordinate detection. The device includes scan-side switch sections for respectively connecting X- and Y-scan drivers to X- and Y-electrodes, and detection-side switch sections for respectively connecting X- and Y-coordinate detection sections to the X- and Y-electrodes, so that the scan-side switches sections and detection-side switch sections are turned on and turned off during an actual display period, and turned off and turned on during a detection mode period, respectively.
