A projector according to the present disclosure includes: an illumination optical system; a separator; a first light valve; a second light valve; and a projection optical system. The illumination optical system generates illumination light. The separator separates the illumination light from the illumination optical system into first illumination light and second illumination light. The first light valve is illuminated with the first illumination light separated by the separator and generates first image light. The second light valve is illuminated with the second illumination light separated by the separator and generates second image light. The first image light generated by the first light valve and the second image light generated by the second light valve enter the projection optical system through the separator. The projection optical system projects the first image light that has entered the projection optical system toward a first display region and projects the second image light that has entered the projection optical system toward a second display region.

Projector

To provide an R-T-B based permanent magnet having a high residual magnetic flux density Br at room temperature and a high coercivity HcJ at high temperature. In the R-T-B based permanent magnet, R is a rare earth element, T is an iron group element, and B is boron, and the R-T-B based permanent magnet includes a light rare earth element and a heavy rare earth element as R. The R-T-B based permanent magnet further includes Al, Ga, and Zr. With respect to 100 mass % of the R-T-B based permanent magnet, a total content of R is 28.50 mass % to 30.25 mass % (not including 28.50 mass %), B content is 0.93 mass % to 0.98 mass %, Al content is 0.03 mass % to 0.19 mass %, Ga content is 0.03 mass % to 0.15 mass %, and Zr content is 0.30 mass % to 0.50 mass %.

R-T-B based permanent magnet and motor

An optical system includes: a first optical system including a polarization conversion element aligning a polarization direction of light including color light beams with a predetermined polarization direction, and generating illumination light including the color light beams; a first polarization rotation element disposed at a first pupil position inside the first optical system, including first and second divided regions, in which the first and second divided regions have different polarization characteristics with respect to a first color light beam outputted from the polarization conversion element; a polarizer disposed between the polarization conversion element and the first polarization rotation element, and reducing light in a polarization direction other than the predetermined polarization direction included in light outputted from the polarization conversion element; and light valves each illuminated by at least the first color light beam included in the illumination light generated by the first optical system.

Optical system with polarization elements and multiple light valves

Provided is a permanent magnet including a rare-earth element R (such as Nd), a transition metal element T (such as Fe), B, Zr, and Cu. The permanent magnet contains a plurality of main phase grains including Nd, T, and B, and grain boundary multiple junctions, the one grain boundary multiple junction is a grain boundary surrounded by three or more of the main phase grains, one of the grain boundary multiple junctions contains a ZrBcrystal and an R&#x2014;Cu-rich phase including R and Cu, Fe is contained in the ZrBcrystal, a total concentration of Nd and Pr in the one grain boundary multiple junction containing both the ZrBcrystal and the R&#x2014;Cu-rich phase is higher than a total concentration of Nd and Pr in the main phase grain, a concentration of Cu in the one grain boundary multiple junction containing both the ZrBcrystal and the R&#x2014;Cu-rich phase is higher than a concentration of Cu in the main phase grain, and a unit of the concentration of each of Nd, Pr, and Cu is atomic %.

R-T-B based permanent magnet

Provided is a permanent magnet including a rare-earth element R, a transition metal element T, B, Zr, and Cu. The permanent magnet contains main phase grains including Nd, T, and B, and grain boundary multiple junctions, the grain boundary multiple junction is a grain boundary surrounded by three or more of the main phase grains, one of the grain boundary multiple junctions contains a ZrBcrystal and an R&#x2014;Cu-rich phase, a concentration of B in the grain boundary multiple junction containing both the ZrBcrystal and the R&#x2014;Cu-rich phase is from 5 to 20 atomic %, a concentration of Cu in the grain boundary multiple junction containing both the ZrBcrystal and the R&#x2014;Cu-rich phase is from 5 to 25 atomic %, and a surface layer part of the main phase grain includes at least one kind of heavy rare-earth element among Tb and Dy.

A projection display unit includes: an illumination optical system including one or more light sources; a reflective liquid crystal device that generates image light by modulating light from the illumination optical system, based on an input image signal; a polarizing beam splitter disposed on an optical path between the illumination optical system and the reflective liquid crystal device; a polarization compensation device disposed on an optical path between the polarizing beam splitter and the reflective liquid crystal device, and the polarization compensation device that provides a phase difference to light incident thereon to change a polarization state of the light; and a projection optical system that projects image light generated by the reflective liquid crystal device and then being incident thereon through an optical path, the optical path passing through the polarization compensation device and the polarizing beam splitter. The polarization compensation device has a first surface and a second surface that faces each other along an optical axis, and provides a phase difference between absolute values at light incidence from the first surface and at light incidence from the second surface, the absolute values being opposite in polarity to each other and being substantially equal to each other.

Projection display unit and direct-view display unit

A display apparatus of the present disclosure includes: a light source section that outputs a light beam of a plurality of predetermined colors; an image data processing section that generates a sub-frame image of a single color by dividing a unit frame into a plurality of sub-frames, on the basis of an input image signal, and generates a sub-frame image of a mixed color based on the image signals of at least two colors; a display device that modulates the light beam based on the sub-frame images generated by the image data processing section; and a light source control section that causes the light source section to output the light beam of the color corresponding to the sub-frame image of the single color, in a selected period, and causes the light source section to output the light beams of the at least two colors sequentially.

Display apparatus

A first illumination device includes a light source that emits light having directivity, and a uniform illumination optical system including a first fly-eye lens that includes a plurality of lenses two-dimensionally arranged and allows light based on emitted light from the light source to pass through the first fly-eye lens. An illumination target region has a planar shape having a side extending along a direction substantially parallel to a long-axis direction or a short-axis direction of an intensity distribution shape of emitted light from the light source, and a periodic direction of an array of the lenses in the first fly-eye lens is inclined with respect to the long-axis direction or the short-axis direction.

Illumination device and display unit

An illumination device includes a light source section, an optical element, and a driver. The light source section includes a laser light source. The optical element includes a periodic structure, and is disposed in an optical path of light emitted from the light source section. The driver vibrates the optical element to cause a vibration direction to be inclined to a periodic direction of the periodic structure of the optical element.

A projection display apparatus includes a light valve that modulates illuminating light on the basis of image data to output the modulated light, an illuminating unit including a light source, and a plurality of optical members for illumination that generate the illuminating light on the basis of light from the light source to guide the illuminating light to the light valve, a projection lens that projects the modulated light from the light valve on a projection surface, and allows detection light to enter from a direction opposite to a travelling direction of the modulated light, and an imaging device that is disposed at a location optically conjugated with the light valve, and allows the detection light to enter through the projection lens. The plurality of optical members for illumination have optical property of reducing a noise component that affects the detection light and arises inside the illuminating unit.

Projection display apparatus

Provided are an illumination device and a display apparatus capable of reducing generation of an interference pattern, while achieving downsizing and enhancing light use efficiency. An illumination device includes: a light source section that includes a laser light source; an optical device disposed on a light path through which laser light from the laser light source travels; an optical member that outputs illumination light; and a driving section that displaces a relative position between the optical device and the optical member to vary at least one of an incidence position and an incidence angle, in an incidence surface of the optical member, of the laser light.

Illumination device and display apparatus

An illuminating unit of the disclosure includes a light source, a plurality of optical members for illumination that guide light from the light source to a predetermined optical path, and a polarization split element that transfers, to a predetermined illuminating position, a first polarized component included in the light guided to the predetermined optical path. One or more of the plurality of optical members for illumination have optical properties, for the light at a predetermined wavelength band outputted from the light source, of guiding the first polarized component to the predetermined optical path, and guiding a second polarized component that is different from the first polarized component toward a direction deviated from the predetermined optical path.

A projection display apparatus of the disclosure includes: a light valve () that modulates illuminating light (L) on the basis of image data to output the modulated light; an illuminating unit () including a light source, and a plurality of optical members for illumination that generate the illuminating light (L) on the basis of light from the light source to guide the illuminating light (L) to the light valve (); a projection lens () that projects the modulated light from the light valve () on a projection surface (A), and allows detection light to enter from a direction opposite to a travelling direction of the modulated light; and an imaging device () that is disposed at a location optically conjugated with the light valve (), and allows the detection light to enter through the projection lens. An illumination unit including one or more light sources each including a solid-state light-emitting device; and an optical member configured to allow light incident from the solid-state light-emitting device to pass therethrough and exit therefrom, and at least one of the chips in the one or more light sources is configured of a laser diode. The optical member includes an integrator including a first fly-eye lens on which light from the solid-state light-emitting device is incident. A major-axis direction of a luminance distribution shape of light incident on an incident plane of the first fly-eye lens is different from arrangement directions of the cells in the first fly-eye lens.
