The particle therapy system includes a particle beam generator for generating a particle beam; an irradiation nozzle arranged in a treatment room and irradiating a target with the particle beam; a particle beam transport system communicating the particle beam generator with the irradiation nozzle; an X-ray imaging device arranged in the treatment room and imaging the position of the target through irradiation with X-rays; a dosimeter arranged at a position passed by the particle beam in the irradiation nozzle; and a control apparatus performing control to exclude the measurement result of the X-rays from the measurement result obtained using the dosimeter when the X-rays are emitted during treatment.

Particle therapy system

The present invention provides a particle therapy system including an irradiation compensating device made up of an energy absorber, a first collimator, and a second collimator for use in a short-range region. The irradiation compensating device is characterized by a mechanism for attaching and detaching the first energy absorber, first collimator, and second collimator. The first collimator is located upstream where the beam diameter is small with a view to suppressing the width of the compensating device, thereby contributing to making the compensating device small and lightweight. The second collimator is located downstream to improve penumbrae.

A display device () includes a display () used to display an image, and a handle () attached to a recess () formed in a rear face () of the display (). The handle having a Z-shape in a side view connects between a first holder () and a second holder () via a connecting part (). The second holder () is projected outside the display device so as to achieve an easy-to-hold ability when the first mounting face () of the first holder () is fixed to the recess () of the display device (). The first holder () is kept inside the thickness of the display device () when the second mounting face () of the second holder () is fixed to the recess ().

Handle and display device equipped with handle

The charged particle beam irradiation system includes a charged particle beam generating unit, scanning electromagnets, a beam irradiation apparatus, beam radiation dose measuring instrument(s), and a beam position measuring instrument for obtaining one or both of the position and the width of the beam scanned by the scanning electromagnets. The beam position measuring instrument obtains one or both of the position and the width of the beam for each irradiation spot and determines whether the obtained result is within an allowable range and obtains one or both of the position and the width of the charged particle beam for each split during irradiation to the spot with the charged particle beam regarding a split of which a dose is managed by dividing a part of or all of irradiation spots into irradiation sections and determines whether the obtained result is within an allowable range.

Charged particle beam irradiation system

A radiation measuring device having a plurality of sensors configured to generate charges in response to the radiation includes a signal processing device. The signal processing device uses an signal generated by a proton beam irradiation device upon changing of beam energy and causes accumulation values of charges output from the sensors to be separately stored in a main control device for each value of the energy. The main control device calculates depth dose profiles for values of the beam energy from the accumulation values stored in the main control device and representing the charges. The main control device calculates a range of the beam for each of the values of the beam energy from the depth dose profiles, corrects the depth dose profiles for the values of the beam energy using a correction coefficient that depends on the range and sums the corrected depth dose profiles.

Disclosed is a storage device using non-volatile semiconductor memory that achieves high performance and long life for the device. When managing the non-volatile semiconductor memory (), physical blocks are classified into three types: scratch blocks (), data blocks (), and erased blocks (). Data writing from a host device () is performed on the scratch blocks. When the number of empty pages within a scratch block becomes less than a predetermined number or no longer exists, the block is treated thereafter as a data block, and one of the erased blocks is newly assigned as a scratch block. If there are insufficient erased blocks, a block with relatively less valid data is selected from among the data blocks. After copying all valid data included in the block to a scratch block, the block is erased, and thus an erased block is acquired.

Storage device and memory controller

A beam extraction process (interruption and restart) is appropriately performed when a failure occurs during irradiation of a spot group. A charged particle irradiation system includes a synchrotronand a scanning irradiation unitthat scans an ion beam extracted from the synchrotron over a subject. The extraction of the ion beam from the synchrotron is stopped on the basis of a beam extraction stop command. Scanning magnetsA andB are controlled to change a point (spot) to be irradiated with the ion beam, while the extraction of the ion beam is stopped. The extraction of the ion beam from the synchrotron is restarted after the change of the spot to be irradiated. When a relatively minor failure in which continuous irradiation would be possible occurs during irradiation of a certain spot with the beam, the extraction of the beam is not immediately stopped.

Charged particle irradiation system and method for controlling the same

A charged particle beam irradiation system and a charged particle beam extraction method which can prevent erroneous irradiation of a charged particle beam in the direction of advance of the charged particle beam. The system and method are featured in stopping supply of an ion beam to one or more of a plurality of angle zones in each of which a target dose is attained, the angle zones being formed by dividing an RMW in a rotating direction thereof, and in allowing the supply of the ion beam to one or more other angle zones in each of which a target dose is not yet attained. The invention can easily adjust beam doses at various positions in an affected part of the patient body in the direction of advance of the ion beam, and can greatly reduce the probability of erroneous irradiation that the beam dose becomes excessive or deficient at the various positions within the affected part of the patient body in the direction of advance of the ion beam.

Charged particle beam irradiation system and charged particle beam extraction method

A charged particle beam extraction system and method capable of shortening the irradiation time and increasing the number of patients treatable per unit time. The charged particle beam extraction system comprises a synchrotron for cyclically performing patterned operation including four steps of introducing, accelerating, extracting and decelerating an ion beam, an on/off switch for opening or closing connection between an RF knockout electrode and an RF power supply for applying RF power to the RF knockout electrode, and a timing controller for controlling on/off-timing of the on/off switch such that when extraction of the ion beam is stopped at least once during the extraction step of the synchrotron, an amount of the ion beam extracted from the synchrotron in one cycle is held substantially at a setting value.

A particle beam irradiation apparatus includes a synchrotron, two scanning electromagnets, a beam delivery apparatus for outputting an ion beam extracted from the synchrotron, and an accelerator and transport system controller, and a scanning controller. These controllers stop the output of the ion beam from the beam delivery apparatus; in a state where the output of the ion beam is stopped, change the irradiation position of the ion beam by controlling the scanning electromagnets; and after this change, control the scanning electromagnets to start the output of the ion beam from the beam delivery apparatus and to perform irradiations of the ion beam to at least one irradiation position a plurality of times based on treatment planning information.

Particle beam irradiation apparatus, treatment planning unit, and particle beam irradiation method

Particle beam irradiation equipment and a method of adjusting irradiation nozzle, which can ensure a long range and high dose uniformity at any field size are provided. The particle beam irradiation equipment comprises charged particle beam generation equipment and an irradiation nozzle for irradiating a charged particle beam extracted from the charged particle beam generation equipment to an irradiation target. The irradiation nozzle comprises a first scatterer device including a first scatterer for spreading out the charged particle beam into a Gaussian-like distribution, and multiple stages of second scatterer devices including second scatterers for producing a uniform intensity distribution of the charged particle beam having been spread out into a Gaussian-like distribution by the first scatterer. For forming irradiation fields having sizes different from each other, the second scatterer devices are disposed downstream of the first scatterer device in the direction of travel of the charged particle beam at the spacing depending on the difference in the field size.

Particle beam irradiation equipment and particle beam irradiation method

A particle therapy system capable of confirming energy of an accelerated charged particle beam before the charged particle beam is irradiated to an irradiation target. A beam position monitor is disposed in a synchrotron, and a cavity voltage monitor is associated with an RF cavity for acceleration. An ion beam orbiting within the synchrotron is accelerated with application of an RF voltage applied to the RF cavity and is extracted from the synchrotron with application of an RF voltage applied to an RF knockout electrode. Based on a cavity voltage signal detected by the cavity voltage monitor, a frequency counter measures the frequency of the RF voltage applied to the RF cavity. Based on a voltage detected by the beam position monitor, a beam signal processing unit measures the position of a beam orbit. Based on the frequency of the RF voltage and the position of the beam orbit, the energy judgment processing unit determines whether energy of the ion beam after the end of the acceleration is normal or abnormal.

Particle therapy system and method

A particle beam irradiation apparatus includes a synchrotron, two scanning electromagnets, an beam delivery apparatus for outputting an ion beam extracted from the synchrotron, and an accelerator and transport system controller, and a scanning controller. These controllers stop the output of the ion beam from the beam delivery apparatus; in a state where the output of the ion beam is stopped, change the irradiation position of the ion beam by controlling the scanning electromagnets; and after this change, control the scanning electromagnets to start the output of the ion beam from the beam delivery apparatus and to perform irradiations of the ion beam to at least one irradiation position a plurality of times based on treatment planning information.

The invention is intended to confirm whether the SOBP (spread-out Bragg peak) width is a desired value in real time during beam irradiation, and to improve safety in treatment. Ion beam delivery equipment comprises a beam generator including a synchrotron, an RMW (range modulation wheel) device for forming an SOBP width of an ion beam extracted from the beam generator, a beam delivery nozzle including a reference dose monitor and a main dose monitor which are installed respectively upstream and downstream of the RMW device in the direction of travel of the ion beam, and an SOBP width computing unit for computing the SOBP width of the ion beam, which is formed by the RMW device, based on values detected by both the reference dose monitor and the main dose monitor.
