An object of the present invention is to provide a coated paper that includes a coating layer containing poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) with few coating defects. As a solution, the present invention provides a coated paper including a coating layer containing poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) and an adhesive, on at least one side of a paper substrate. A solid content weight ratio of the poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) to the adhesive in the coating layer is 99.9/0.1 to 60.0/40.0.

An inkjet recording medium having an ink receiving layer containing an inorganic pigment, starch, and copolymer latex on at least one surface of a base, characterized in that the inorganic pigment contains engineered calcium carbonate and kaolin, an amount of the engineered calcium carbonate is from 50% by weight or more to less than 80% by weight and an amount of the kaolin is from 10% by weight or more to less than 50% by weight with respect to a total amount of the inorganic pigment, and from 1 parts by weight or more to 10 parts by weight or less of an organic pigment having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 20&#xb0; C. or more is contained in the ink receiving layer with respect to 100 parts by weight of the inorganic pigment.

An inkjet recording method for printing an inkjet recording medium comprising an ink-receiving layer containing inorganic pigment, starch and copolymer latex on a surface of a base with inkjet ink as aqueous pigment ink, a content of the inorganic pigment being 10 g/mor more to 35 g/mor less in the ink-receiving layer, and a content of calcium carbonate being from 80% by weight or more to 100% by weight or less, the inkjet ink containing one or more selected from self dispersed pigment and pigment containing water-insoluble polymer particles, from 10% by weight or more to 48% by weight or less of a water-soluble organic solvent A having a boiling point of 230&#xb0; C. or less, from 0% by weight or more to 5.0% by weight or less of a water-soluble organic solvent B having a boiling point of 280&#xb0; C. or more, from 42% by weight or more to 70% by weight or less of water.

Inkjet recording method and inkjet recording medium

An inkjet recording medium, comprising an ink-receiving layer containing a pigment, a binder and an inkjet ink-fixing agent comprising a cationic compound disposed on at least one surface of a base paper, wherein 50% or more by weight of calcium carbonate is contained in terms of a solid content based on a total amount of the pigment contained in the ink-receiving layer; 75 to 90 parts by weight of the pigment, 1 to 10 parts by weight of the binder and 5 to 20 parts by weight of the inkjet ink-fixing agent are contained based on 100 parts by weight of the ink-receiving layer; the drop water absorbency of the ink-receiving layer (according to the drop water absorbency defined in Japan Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, J. TAPPI, No. 32-2:2000 except that a drop water amount is 0.001 ml) is 200 seconds or less; and a Stockigt sizing degree according to JIS-P-8122 for the inkjet recording medium is 5 seconds or less.

There is provided a filled paper containing a coated filler obtained by coating a filler with a acrylamide copolymer (composite PAM) comprising (A) an anionic polysaccharide and (B) a cationic and/or an amphoteric acrylamide copolymer. The composite PAM is obtained, for example, by mixing the component (A) and the component (B). Since the filler is treated with a combination of the components (A) and (B) different from each other in charge properties and structure, suitable coagulation effect can be attained and the coated filler has excellent affinity for pulp slurry. Therefore, even in the case of a highly filled paper, a large paper strengthening effect can be attained by using a small amount of the chemical agent.

Filled paper and method of manufacturing the same

The present invention provides a process for preparing a coated printing paper, comprising the steps of making a base paper from a stuff containing a hardwood-derived mechanical pulp (LMP) and applying a coating solution containing a pigment and an adhesive by an on-machine coater to provide a coating layer, wherein said steps are continuously performed on machine. According to the present invention, coated printing papers having high quality can be efficiently prepared with high runnability.

Processes for preparing coated printing papers using hardwood mechanical pulps

The present invention provides a low-density neutral paper offering excellent opacity, opacity after printing and other advantageous printability properties despite high bulk, by containing, as a filler, precipitated calcium carbonate-silica composite having an average particle size of 30 &#x3bc;m or less and produced by neutralizing a mixture of precipitated calcium carbonate and alkaline silicate to pH 7 to 9, wherein the ratio of precipitated calcium carbonate to silica (precipitated calcium carbonate/silica) is 30/70 to 70/30 in solid content by weight and the surface of precipitated calcium carbonate particles is covered with silica. In particular, the present invention provides a low-density printing paper, or an electrophotographic transfer paper offering excellent stiffness and copier suitability, by means of adjusting the filler content in paper to a range of 1 to 25 solid content percent by weight, or provides a neutral newsprinting paper by means of adjusting the filler content in paper to a range of 0.1 to 25 solid content percent by weight.
