When a judging unit judges that there is no mobile-apparatus transmission data, a first generating unit decreases a reference value for generating a transmission-power control command, by a value equivalent to an amount of an outer-loop adjustment. A second generating unit compares generated reference value and a line quality that is measured by a measuring unit, when the former is larger than the latter, generates a transmission-power control command for reducing a transmission power of the mobile apparatus, and when the former is smaller than the latter, generates a transmission-power control command for increasing the transmission power of the mobile apparatus.

Base station and mobile apparatus

An image data transmission system includes mobile transceivers having memories storing image data that is organized in sequential blocks. The mobile transceivers sequentially pass by a stationary transceiver and pause proximate the stationary transceiver. While pausing, a mobile transceiver transmits a block of the image data to the stationary transceiver, which receives and stores the transmitted data. Data transmission is interrupted by movement of the formerly pausing mobile transceiver. The stationary transceiver transmits a pointer signal to a paused mobile transceiver indicating which blocks of image data have been stored in the stationary transceiver so that the mobile transceivers transmit the blocks sequentially until all blocks have been received and stored by the stationary transceiver. The apparatus may be employed in a mass transit system, such as a subway or commuter train, in which the mobile transceivers are mounted in train cars and the stationary transceiver is located at a station. The image data may be used to illuminate electronic displays in the station each time all of the blocks of data have been transmitted to and stored in the stationary transceiver. Thus, the vehicles containing the mobile transceivers function as a transmission line and can provide continually updated data for news and advertisement displays.

Image data transmission system and method

A static video telephone for sending an image captured by an image capture-system and receiving a video signal transmitted over a telephone line. A video signal formed for transmission has a frame format including a phase shift correction data signal in addition to a frame synchronization signal, an amplitude calibration signal, an ID (information data) signal, and image data signal. The video telephone includes a frequency shift correction data generating circuit which is activated when frequency shifts are detected in the received signal and produces frequency-shift correction data. The frequency-shift correction data is then delivered to a subsequent demodulation timing generating circuit which scales phase errors in the received signal to produce phase error correction data. Both frequency-shift correction data and phase error correction data are combined together to produce a demodulation timing signal. With this signal, the received signal is demodulated.

Method and apparatus for static video telephone transmission/receiving

A still picture video telephone transmission system for transmitting and receiving, via a telephone line, a still picture taken by a camera; a picture signal is transmitted and received by a transmitting circuit and a receiving circuit, to which improvements are made so as to display a still picture clearly without distortion. For this purpose, the transmitting circuit sends picture element signals together with image correcting signals such as a picture element displacement detecting signal, a phase inversion detecting signal, and settling data. The receiving circuit detects the image correcting signals in the picture element signal, and makes the necessary corrections so as to enable the still picture to be displayed in good shape.

Still image video telephone transmission system

The present invention provides a QAM modulation scheme compatible with a single channel demodulator. The inphase (I) channel is provided with luminance information encoded on a series of sine wave symbols. The quadrature (Q) channel is used for color difference values with a sine or cosine symbol being used for each color difference value. Alternate ones of these color difference symbols are inverted so that, on the average, their effect on the I channel zero-crossings simply cancels out. Thus, when sent to a single channel demodulator which expects a black and white picture, the quadrature channel will be filtered out; leaving luminance information which will be decoded as a black and white picture. The color information does not disturb the zero crossings of the luminance signal on an averaged basis, allowing the carrier recovery phase lock loop to maintain synchronization for demodulation purposes. When received by a QAM demodulator, the color difference values are recovered on the Q channel, to give a color picture. In one embodiment, the cosine symbols on the channel are offset with a positive or negative DC value, depending on whether the symbol is inverted, to shift the Q channel zero-crossings so they are aligned with the I channel zero-crossings.
