A printing machine in which a perforation pressure drum is disposed downstream of a paper feeding section, and a longitudinal perforation blade and a lateral perforation blade may be brought into contact with the perforation drum. A delivery drum is in contact with the perforation drum, and a numbering pressure drum is in contact with the delivery drum. A numbering box may be brought into contact with the numbering pressure drum. With such an arrangement, it is possible to enhance printing position precision and operational property.

Offset printing machine

An image position adjusting device for controlling an imaging area in a longitudinal direction of a printing sheet. This position control is made by rotating one of the impression and blanket cylinders with respect to the other. A first intermediate gear is mounted on a shaft extending between the side frames of the printing machine, and a second intermediate gear is engaged with the first intermediate gear and a stationary gear of one of the impression and blanket cylinders. The second intermediate gear is swingable while meshingly moving along the first intermediate gear for rotating the gear of the impression or blanket cylinder. During movement of the second intermediate gear, it is always held between the first intermediate gear and the stationary gear.

A sheet feeder in a sheet-fed printing press includes a detector 1 disposed adjacent to a feed portion of a paper feed or transfer cylinder 2 for detecting an improperly fed sheet of paper, and a gripper opening mechanism 6 actuatable for engaging a cam follower 13 to open a gripper 14 to release the improperly fed sheet of paper from the cylinder. A sheet discharge mechanism 16 has a sheet discharge roller 17 movable toward the cylinder for gripping therebetween the released sheet, and a stripper 18 movable toward the cylinder for stripping the improperly fed sheet and discharging it along a paper guide. An actuator 4.5 is connected to the detector for actuating the gripper opening mechanism and moving the sheet discharge roller and the stripper in response to the detection by the detector of the improperly fed sheet of paper.

Sheet feeder for use in sheet-fed printing press

A device for connecting and disconnecting a dampening system B and an inking system A in an offset printing machine. The offset printing machine includes a plate cylinder 7, and the inking system includes an ink applicator roller 10 movable toward and away from the plate cylinder. The ink applicator roller is in rotational contact with an ink delivery roller 19. The ink delivery roller is in rotational contact with an intermediate roller 15 which is movable toward and away from a roller 16 of the dampening system. The ink delivery roller and the intermediate roller are both rotatably supported by a pair of brackets 27,27 pivotally supported to an inking frame 25,25. The ink delivery roller and the intermediate roller are also slidable with respect to the brackets. In accordance with the movement of the ink applicator roller, the ink delivery roller is slidably moved, yet connection and disconnection between the inking and dampening systems is attainable.

A mechanism for continuously supplying a dampening medium in an offset printing machine is disclosed. The mechanism includes a dampening medium applicator roller in rotational contact with a master plate on a master cylinder, a dampening medium transfer roller in rotational contact with the applicator roller, a dampening medium distributor roller in rotational contact with the transfer roller, a dipping roller in rotational contact with the distributor roller, and a metering roller in contact with the dipping roller. The applicator roller and the transfer roller have their outer peripheral surfaces provided with elastic material layers.

In a multi-color printing machine, any positional error of a image is corrected by a longitudinal image displacement correcting mechanism and/or a diagonal image adjusting mechanism. In the former mechanism, the phase of a paper-feed cylinder relative to an impression cylinder is changed by utilizing the principle of a helical gear. In the latter mechanism, the paper-feed cylinder is tilted or twisted relative to the impression cylinder.

An offset printing press having an operating lever mechanism which is capable of controlling sequential printing operations by manipulating a single operating lever. The offset printing press includes an inking roller system and a dampening roller system. The inking roller system is supported to a first pair of frames, while the dampening roller system is supported to a second pair of frames pivotable relative to the first pair of frames. The operation lever provides pivotal motion of the second pair of frames for selectively applying water to a plate cylinder from the dampening roller system. Further, rollers in the dampening roller system are movable toward and away from each other.

Operating lever mechanism for offset printing press

A mechanism for adjusting an image position on a printing cylinder in a rotary press adjusts the position by sliding or moving the printing cylinder transversely relative to a rubber cylinder. The mechanism includes a transverse adjusting mechanism and a vertical adjusting mechanism which each have bevel gears. A handle is fixed to a central shaft of the printing cylinder at one side of the cylinder and outside the housing of the rotary press, so that an operator can adjust the image position without having to go to a second side of the machine frame. In the image adjusting operation, the printing cylinder slides along its axis to adjust the transverse position of the image and the printing cylinder gear slides along its axis to control the vertical position of the image.

In a multi-color printing machine, a skew or slant of a picture to be printed is corrected by cocking, namely, swinging a paper-feed cylinder relative to a base impression cylinder by a unique but simple cocking mechanisms. The cocking mechanism includes a shaft holder which holds one end portion of the shaft of the paper-feed cylinder and which is pivotable about an eccentric position disposed on an imaginary line extending between central axes of the paper-feed cylinder and the base impression cylinder. The shaft holder is connected at another end thereof to an operating shaft via screw means which converts rotation of the operating shaft into the pivotal movement of the shaft holder.

A picture adjusting device in a sheet-feed press having a rotating sheet-feed cylinder feeding paper to a rotating impression cylinder. The sheet-feed cylinder has a movable bearing on at least one end of its shaft so that the sheet-feed cylinder is tiltable with respect to impression cylinder, thereby allowing adjustment of the positioning of the picture on the page.

The eccentric rubber blanket cylinder shaft rotatably mounts the rubber blanket cylinder eccentrically about a third axis eccentric to the axis of rotation of the shaft. A plate cylinder setting cam and an impression cylinder setting cam are fixedly secured to the impression cylinder rotate therewith and are angularly offset. A plate cylinder setting mechanism includes a first toggle mechanism coupled to the eccentric metal part and a plate cylinder setting mechanism striking bar operatively positioned with respect to the plate cylinder setting cam and coupled to the first toggle mechanism cause the rubber blanket cylinder to be brought into and out of engagement with the plate cylinder. An impression cylinder setting mechanism includes a second toggle mechanism coupled to the eccentric rubber blanket cylinder shaft and an impression cylinder setting mechanism striking bar operatively positioned with respect to the impression cylinder setting cam and responsive thereto is coupled to the second toggle mechanism.
