A first storage system compresses data relating to read and write by a primary site and stores the data in a first physical volume. A second storage system compresses data relating to read and write by a secondary site and stores the data in a second physical volume. When performing replication for transferring the data stored in the first physical volume of the first storage system to the second storage system and storing the data in the second physical volume, the first storage system and the second storage system determine, based on a compression scheme executable by the first storage system and a compression scheme executable by the second storage system, a compression scheme to be applied to transfer target data and transfer the transfer target data compressed by the determined compression scheme.

Data replication system and data replication method

A storage system for continuing I/O without affecting drive box addition to a host computer includes: a plurality of drive boxes for connecting to a computer device that transmits commands for data reads or writes; and a storage controller connected to the drive boxes. A first drive box provides a first storage region to the computer device. The storage controller manages correspondence between the first storage region and a physical storage region of the drives constituting the first storage region. The first drive box receives a command for the first storage region from the computer device and transfers the command to the storage controller. The storage controller generates a data transfer command including a data storage destination based on the address management table, and transfers the command to the first drive box. The first drive box then transfers the data transfer command to the second drive box.

Drive box, storage system and data transfer method

A possible performance bottleneck associated with insufficient network bands is mitigated to allow improvement of access performance of a storage system. A storage system includes a first node with a storage medium of storage and a plurality of second nodes each with a controller function for the storage, and is communicatively connected to a host providing an access request to the storage. One of the plurality of second nodes is determined to be a node to which a controller function executing access processing on the storage is assigned on the basis of a first amount of data transfer between the second node and the host and a second amount of data transfer between the second node and the first node.

Storage system and controller location method

A storage system includes at least one drive chassis connected to at least one host computer via a first network, and a storage controller connected to the drive chassis, in which the storage controller instructs the drive chassis to create a logical volume, and the drive chassis creates a logical volume according to an instruction from the storage controller, provides a storage area of the storage system to the host computer, and receives an IO command from the host computer to the storage area of the storage system.

Storage system and data transfer method

In a distributed computing system, a bottleneck for performance of a network is avoided and a high-performance scalable resource management function is achieved. The distributed computing system includes a plurality of components connected to each other via a network. Each of the components includes a plurality of compute nodes, a plurality of drive casings, and a plurality of storage devices. The network includes a plurality of network switches and is configured in layers. When a storage region is to be allocated to a compute node among the compute nodes, a managing unit selects, from the storage devices, a storage device related to the storage region to be allocated or selects, from the drives, a drive casing related to the storage region to be allocated, based on a network distance between two of the compute node, the storage device, and the drive casing.

Distributed computing system and resource allocation method

A storage system includes a controller and a nonvolatile memory drive, in which the controller transmits a write request that designates a volume identifier of a volume to be provided to a host, to the nonvolatile memory drive; the nonvolatile memory drive exclusively allocates a free block selected from a plurality of blocks to the volume identifier; write data of the write request is written to the free block; when the write data is update write data, an area that stores data to be updated is changed to an invalid data area; and after valid data of a block including the invalid data area is migrated to another block, all data of the block including the invalid data area is erased.

Storage system

An intermediate device is disposed between a host and a search target. Search requests of m-multiplicity (requests involving a data transfer amount that is unknown to the host) for at least one among n-processes (n is an integer equal to or more than 1) to be executed by the host are issued as requests from the host to the intermediate device. A temporary area associated with the search requests is allocated in the host. For each of the search requests, the intermediate device recognizes a hit data volume in accordance with the search request within a search scope. For each of the search, the hit data is written in an area of the temporary area that corresponds to a write destination address. The write destination address is updated for each of the search requests on the basis of the recognized hit data volume.

Search processing system and method for processing search requests involving data transfer amount unknown to host

A display device includes a frame frequency conversion circuit configured to convert a frame frequency of an input display data and a timing control circuit configured to control a first drive circuit and a second drive circuit based on a frame frequency after the conversion. The display device generates at least two display areas on the display panel. The at least two display areas display images at different frame frequencies. The display device further includes a switch unit configured to display an image at the frame frequency before the conversion at one of the at least two display areas and configured to display an image at the frame frequency after the conversion at another one of the at least two display areas. At least one of a boundary position and a size of the at least two display areas varies with time.

Display device

The present invention provides a technique for changing the number of taps in filter processing without the need for execution of branch processing. A filter processing device comprises: an arithmetic circuit that performs arithmetic processing for filtering operation; an internal register that retains data to be subjected to arithmetic processing in the arithmetic circuit and that receives the result of arithmetic processing from the arithmetic circuit as data to be written back thereto; and a data generator that generates data to be fed to the arithmetic circuit through use of the data retained in the internal register. Further, in the filter processing device, there is disposed a tap number control circuit that is capable of controlling the number of taps in filter processing according to a tap control signal applied thereto. In this configuration, no branch processing is required for controlling the number of taps by the use of the tap number control circuit.

Filter processing device and semiconductor device

A resistive element is connected in series to a cathode terminal of an LED light source at a last stage (or an anode terminal of an LED light source at a first stage) of an LED chain, and a resistance value of the resistive element is configured to be variable in resistance value in accordance with a variation of voltage drops of the LEDs connected in series so that a resistance value of a resistive element connected to an LED chain having a large voltage drop has a smaller resistance value then a resistance value of a resistive element connected to an LED chain having a small voltage drop. With this configuration, the power, which has been wasted otherwise as heat in the backlight driver IC, may be dispersed to the resistive elements.

Backlight device and display device

Provided is a display device capable of producing an image of excellent quality with reduced flicker and little reduction in luminance, the display device including: a backlight having light sources such as LED devices arranged two-dimensionally, each of which may be individually modulated in luminance; a moving velocity detection unit VD() for detecting a moving velocity of an object in a video (for example, moving velocity of a foreground); and a luminance variation control unit () for automatically controlling luminance variations of the LED devices for each frame, in accordance with the moving velocity.

The backlight device includes: a backlight including a plurality of light sources; and a backlight control part. The backlight includes a plurality of divided areas, and light sources disposed in each of the plurality of divided areas are chain-connected. The backlight control part includes at least one backlight control unit for controlling turning on and off of the backlight which includes the plurality of divided areas, with respect to the each divided area. The backlight control unit includes a selection unit for selecting one of divided areas, at least one backlight drive path. The selection unit selects the one of divided areas in a time division manner, and the light sources of the one of divided areas are driven by sharing the at least one backlight drive path in common.
