Disclosed is a vehicle-like sound generation method wherein an acquisition unit (A) refers to map information contained in a memory unit () based on the current position of a vehicle (MV) detected by a position detection unit (), acquires lane information including the number of lanes on the road the vehicle (MV) is currently driving on, and sends the acquired lane information to a determination unit (). Then, the determination unit () determines the range of the vehicle-like sound output towards the exterior of the vehicle based on the lane information sent by the acquisition unit (A). Next, a control unit () calculates the volume setting for the vehicle-like sound output from the left and right speakers of a sound output unit () based on the determined range. Thus, output of the vehicle-like sound can be controlled while taking into account the probability that persons to be notified are present in surroundings which change due to the type of road currently being driven on.

The feed mechanism has a lead screw , a pickup assembly , an engagement piece , and a restrictor piece , a compressed coil spring , and a bearing portion . The engagement piece has a thread portion engaged with a screw groove of the lead screw . The engagement piece moves along the lead screw and can come close to and off from the lead screw . The pickup assembly moves together with the engagement piece . The restrictor piece prevents the engagement piece from disengaging from the lead screw , except when the screw groove moves apart from the thread portion . The compressed coil spring urges the engagement piece toward the lead screw . The bearing portion rotatively supports the lead screw and allows the lead screw to move apart from the engagement piece when the engagement piece has reached an end thereof.

Recording medium read device

A clamping device consists of a disk table for setting thereon a disk-like recording medium bearing recorded information, and a clamper which cooperates with the disk table to hold the recording medium therebetween. At least one of the disk table and the damper is formed of polypropylene at where to contact with the recording medium. If a special disk, which has a high-temperature softening film on its label surface, is clamped under high temperature conditions for a long time, and the film softens and thereafter re-solidifies as the temperature lowers, a smooth release of the recording medium is attained.
