The present invention provides an absorbent body containing absorbent fibers in which fiber orientation is mainly adjusted, and fiber basis weight and shape are additionally adjusted. The absorbent bodyof the present invention is an absorbent body containing absorbent fibers, a plurality of low fiber basis weight regions formed continuously in the first direction with a fiber basis weight that is less than an average fiber basis weight of the absorbent body, and a plurality of high fiber basis weight regions, formed along and on both sides of the low fiber basis weight regions in relation to the second direction perpendicular to the first direction, with a fiber basis weight that is greater than the average fiber basis weight of the absorbent body. The content of longitudinally oriented fibers in the fibersmaking up the high fiber basis weight regions is greater than that of laterally oriented fibers, and the content of longitudinally oriented fibers in the fibersmaking up the low fiber basis weight regions is greater than that of laterally oriented fibers.

A disposable diaper includes a diaper body and a pair of side flaps each fixed to the diaper body at a fixing part and at least a joint part. The diaper body has transversely opposite side parts, each of which has opposite first and second end parts. The fixing parts and joint parts are located at the first end parts of the disposable diaper. Each fixing part is located inwardly of the respective joint part as seen in the width direction of the diaper body. Each side flap has an inner end part fixed to the diaper body and an outer end part to which a fastener is fixed.

In a disposable diaper includes a pair of side flaps respectively extending from an end portion in a lateral direction of the diaper main body and a fixing tape disposed in proximity of a farthest edge of the respective side flaps, the fixing tape is provided with a hook member, the fixing tape and the side flaps are to be engaged via the hook member, and an engaging region on the side flaps where the fixing tape is to be engaged includes portions having a different engaging force with the hook member. As a result, the fixing tape can be temporarily fixed with a modest engaging force, despite the hook member having a greater engaging force.

A disposable diaper that includes a pair of tape fasteners extending outward from transversely opposite side edge portions of a rear waist region and a target tape strip to which the tape fasteners are anchored and attached to a outer surface of a backsheet in a front waist region. Hook members are provided on surfaces of the respective tape fasteners facing the target tape strip. Portions of the respective hook members defined in the vicinity of their inner side edges and lying in the vicinity of the transversely opposite side edge portions of to rear waist region are set free from the respective tape fasteners.

A disposable diaper that includes a panel structure composed of a base sheet and a core attached thereto and a sheet member extending above the panel structure. The panel structure has a pair of first side slaps extending in a longitudinal direction and a pair of end flaps extending in a transverse direction. The sheet member includes a pair of side walls biased to rise above the panel structure and a top wall biased to be spaced upward from the panel structure. The side walls have side edge portions bonded to the vicinity of transversely opposite side edges of the core and first end portions bonded to the end flaps. The top wall has an opening defined between the side walls, second end portions bonded to the end flaps and second side flaps extending outside the top edges of the respective side walls in parallel to the first side flaps. Transversely opposite side edge portion of these flaps that overlap each other in the front and rear waist regions are bonded to each other.
