To provide a conductive adhesive composition for an electrochemical element electrode and used in forming a conductive adhesive layer that is highly uniform and is interposed between a collector and an electrode composition layer, being able to contribute to increased adhesion between the two. The conductive adhesive composition for an electrochemical element electrode is characterized by containing: conductive carbon; a particulate copolymer (A) containing a dibasic acid monomer unit; a particulate copolymer (B) containing an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid amide derivative unit; and a dispersing agent.

Disclosed is a sealing material composition for a secondary battery, which is capable of providing a safe sealing layer that exhibits excellent adhesion in the sealing portion, while preventing leakage of the electrolyte solution. Specifically disclosed is a sealing material composition for a secondary battery, which is characterized by containing a diene rubber, a thermoplastic elastomer, carbon and an organic liquid material. The sealing material composition for a secondary battery is also characterized in that the number of coarse particles contained in 3 mL of the composition is 10 or less, said coarse particles having a maximum diameter of 10 &#x3bc;m or more.

A binder for battery comprising composite polymer particles in which two or more polymers having different chemical structures form a heterogeneous phase structure. Preferably, said two or more polymers include two polymers having a glass transition temperature (Tg) different from each other by 5&#xb0; C. or more. When a slurry prepared by mixing the binder with a liquid material and an active material is used for the production of an electrode for a secondary battery, especially, a lithium secondary battery, the resulting battery exhibits an improved performance because the slurry imparts a well-balanced binding power and a binding durability.

A polymer dispersion composition obtained by dispersing an electrode active material and a polymer having a gel content of 50% or more in an organic dispersion medium of which boiling point at 760 mmHg is 80&deg; C. or above. The composition is successfully usable as, for instance, a binder composition for batteries, and the battery produced therefrom is high in initial capacity and small in the drop of capacity.

A conductive rubber film having a volume resistivity in the direction perpendicular to the film surface of 0.1-5 .OMEGA.cm is obtained by blending 100 parts by weight of a rubber component comprising rubber with an iodine value of 30 or less (e.g. hydrogenated acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer rubber) with 5 to 100 parts by weight of conductive carbon having a specific surface area of 20 to 2000 m.sup.2 /g, and forming the blend into a film of 0.01-0.2 mm thick by casting by the use of a solvent (e.g. methyl isobutyl ketone). The film is made into collectors and an electric double layer capacitor using an aqueous electrolyte is produced by using the collectors. This capacitor has a low internal resistance, namely, it can be obtained as a high-output capacitor.
