When installing a new system application in the terminal device which can read from and store in the IC card, the application is installed by communicating with a host machine through a connector for the IC card attached to the terminal device, without an exclusive interface mechanism for installing the application.

Premium point services offered by different retailers require each user to possess a plurality of cards for dealing with different applications. An electronic pocketbook system made of a display device and an IC card is provided to store diverse kinds of application information such as amount information and point information into a single IC card. Portions of the application information to be displayed are stored in a predetermined format into a predetermined area inside the IC card. This allows the same program of the display device to display various kinds of application information successively using a common program, and without having to an application specific program.

A processing apparatus for processing information contained in an IC card. When an application is newly registered in the IC card, registration of a corresponding service application program in the processing apparatus is required. Further, on this occasion, the number of times of purchase corresponding to a personal ID stored in a product purchaser's IC card is stored on the number of-times of purchase list of the memory unit , and a personal ID is registered on the personal ID list of a memory unit . When the number of times of purchase exceeds the reference number of times of purchase, when collecting e-money from the product purchaser's ID card whose personal ID is registered on the personal ID list, the microcomputer applies a discounted price as a price for the purchased product.

An IC card system includes an IC card, an IC card read/write unit for reading/writing the IC card, a communication unit intervening for connection to a communication line network, a controller for controlling the IC card read/write unit and communication unit, and a server system connected to the communication line network. The IC card is written with at least specified access destination information for accessing the server system, the controller automatically accesses the server system through the communication unit in accordance with the access destination information in the IC card, and the server system offers information to an information offering destination determined automatically by information to be offered which is processed by the server system, an information offering destination already written in the IC card inserted in the IC card read/write unit or an information offering destination designated by a user after the insertion of the IC card.

IC card processing system and processing method

The machine data acquisition system comprises an IC card accepting device which accepts the IC card, a machine data acquisition device which acquires data on the internal status of the connected machine, and a card writer which writes data acquired by the machine data acquisition device into the storage in the IC card.
